I am sure that many of us on here are familiar with Ebay.com and have used it many times either for Selling an item or for buying something, and personally have many stories we can share. I know sometimes the Shipping of an item is Outrageous, or you have overspent on an item to find it not to be worth what you spent. Or you buy something to find out it was not as you expected, or a Copy of an original. I am sure we all have some stories we can share, and I would Love to hear some Good Experiences or Bad experiences people have experienced here.

That's why you have to look at the rating of the person you buy from. If they have a lot of negative feedback I don't try to buy from them.

There are Scammers, and some of them that are get one Account blocked, etc. and then open another account with another name, etc. until caught there too. So you do have to be Careful. I do check Rating there, and make sure it is good. If it is, you know you can Trust them usually for payment right away, or for delivery of their item with no problems.

I've never been able to get the hang of selling on Ebay. I think I don't do a good job of describing the things I'm selling or something, I never seem to get many buyers. My biggest problem with buying has always been shipping costs. It seems to me that the calculations that Ebay uses to price the shipping are really padded.

Well, if you have ever Sold on Ebay very often, you would understand why there are the high Shipping Costs, and that is one thing you can research if their is an item you are really interested to find the best price, and shipping. It is a Fun adventure for sure.

Ebay is simply a site I go to on occasion ...certainly I would not consider any website my best friend..friends are too important for that. Nightmares come to me in my sleep..I hope that purchases made on ebay dont come back to haunt me at night..but if they do ..wow..I think of ebay simply as an auction site

Ah, it's both my best friend and my worst enemy. I've found some great stuff on there that I would never have gotten my hands on, but at the same time, I've had to spend LOTS of money just to get that stuff. So, it's kinda both for me.

I hear you there. You can find items on there you will never find elsewhere especially when it comes to items from when you were growing up. But at the same time you have to remember to Budget and not over do it as well.

I like ebay alot. I have never really had a bad experience. I just wish I had things I could sell on ebay to ake some money. When I buy things I have a habit of checking out the sellers feedbacks. Weather the it is positive or negative. That helps me decide weather or not I would like to buy things from that certain seller.

That is the Truth. I learned my lesson though some time back. Even if someone's is 100% that does not mean they will always follow thru. I was buying from someone all the time a couple of yrs. back when Beanie Babies were Big, as I resold them and made decent $$ from them, who could not keep up, and had to Refund me on the $$ she owed me. So you will have a Bad experience even from time to time with people with Great ratings on there.

I haven't had any bad exeperiences yet :) I like and hate it at the same time lol I go through phases where I buy heaps of things, then go for ages without even wanting to look at it. I usually only try to buy things that are located in Australia so that the postage doesn't start getting crazy.

I've had 3 items broken in the mail (I had insured them both) so I got my money back(or got a replacement) and I got to keep the items, which is actually kinda nice. I've had 1 item that got completely lost by the post office and was refunded. I've had 1 buyer for a $300 item back out of the transaction (because their 9 year old decided they didn't want my brand new video ipod) and I had to sell it for a little less. I'm well into the triple digits on transactions though and my feedback is still perfectly intact. I'm a huge ebay fan and started up a blog that features unusual auctions. I've posted info on 400 actions in less than 8 months (all hand selected by me other than a couple that were posted because of reader requests). If anyone is interested... http://thewatchlist.blogspot.com

I use Ebay quite a lot for researching prices and values. It's unwise to put a great deal of reliance on it for that because, like all auctions, there are times when the article isn't described correctly or when the right purchaser just doesn't happen along. I haven't yet sold anything on Ebay, though I have a friend who regularly does. I have only once bought something on Ebay and that was a piece of jewellery from what I considered a reputable small maker and dealer. The service I got from him was absolutely fantastic and I believe that that is probably true of 90% of the sellers on Ebay. That will probably vary with the type of article though. When buying, it is always wise to choose sellers with a good star rating and this is a well-known piece of advice, so if you become a seller, it will probably be hard to build up your rating at first. If the seller hasn't got a star rating yet, you can establish a correspondence with him/her and hopefully be able to judge his honesty better from that. If you want to become a seller or a buyer, it is vital to deal with customers and sellers promptly and respectfully at all times. Never lose your temper with someone, even if they deal badly with you by leaving a poor rating or none at all. Ebay is very aware of these problems and will do its best to uphold your rights as a buyer or seller. It is important, therefore, to know the rules and abide by them and to be quite clear about who is responsible for what. I have read too many stories of people who think they have a grudge against Ebay when their argument should really be with the seller or the buyer - or even with themselves for not knowing the rules!
