Ignorance

I don't understand some people. I know we're all different and have different beliefs and outlooks on life etc, but why do some assume that because my thoughts, for example, on something are different than theirs I'm automatically wrong and they're right? Now I will admit that I've been wrong before and chances are I will be again, but why can't some people even bother to check things out, do a little research etc before automatically assuming things? Is it that sheep like mentality some have - the flock goes this way so they'll follow regardless of what the facts state?

Ignorance is a great cover for lack of knowledge. People make assumptions and then refuse to retract their statements even when proven wrong. Thats just the way it goes I suppose. I tend to start controversial topics, and often end up in heated debates with other members. However when I am wrong, I am not afraid to admit it, and apologise. Some people are. I try not to generalise, stereotype or make assumptions, without knowing all the facts. I dont think a person can know everything they need to about someone from a discussion or post that that person makes. We all need to be a little more tolerant on here- thats what I am beginning to learn. Facts donta lways alter peoples beliefs, just follow teh great advice I just got given. Suck it up, move on, start skipping to the next discussion ( I think the member was shoovi- or something along thsoe lines)... Good luck mate

Very well said and great advice. I imagine to some extent there are a lot of people that just enjoy plaing Devils Advocate too, deliberately trying to provoke or enhance a topic by throwing opposing theories out there, which in my mind can often be a great thing. Though there is a big difference (at least in my opinion) between those that can get their points across in ways that are well-thought out not mean spirited and those that in essence say because I said this and you said the opposite you're a total idiot and don't deserve to be here etc. :-) But you're right - we all need to be a little more tolerant. Thanks for the response.

Its because of the way people are brought up.They are taught not to think out of the box.they are taught laws and facts which should not or cannot be questioned. And like wise they believe their views to be similar to that

I guess it gets to me when it comes to the point where they won't even listen to another point of view. Thanks for the response.

yes some people are eaasily offended and dont believe that anyones opinion is worth anything as it differs from their own if your opinion is different they call you a liar and claim that you have no brain to think with these sorts of people are not worth listening to just post your opinions and only reply to those that you wish to discuss the matter with and report the rest fo insulting you or being threatening it may make you happier when you know that they are loosing money for their insults

I think it's generally human nature. They can't see beyond what they think. I basically don't understand why in an argument or discussion, one person has to be right and the other is wrong. Probably both are right and they can find a middle path..or maybe agree to disagree.

If you look at the number 9 upside down, you'll see it as 6. How can you convince someone standing on the other side that it isn't 6? You'll need to be able to see something from another point of view or the argument on right and wrong is pointless. You'll have to respect another person's opinion in and accept it even if you don't agree because you probably can't see the issue the way that they do. I don't waste your anger on someone too close minded to see other possibilities as I can't force them to see what they don't want to. I give them the facts, the reasons & explanations behind my opinion and peacefully respect their views whether or not I agree. ^_^

Unfortunately, the society for folks 'that are always right', seems to get more rife as days go by. It is quite annoying...always ready to jump down your throat or are on full 'attack' alert. Forget checking facts, or allowing others to have an opinion of their own......theirs, is always right. Stubborness, ignorant, pig-headed!!!! Yes we all make mistakes and are wrong occassionally, but yikeseby.....no need to burn the next person for it....

You know if God didn't want us to think he wouldn't have given us a brain. I love to hear different view points here and that's what they are. I don't think there is any right or wrong in a lot of cases not all. But people need to keep a open mind. There are lot of different people here from all over and you are going to have different opinions not necessarily wrong opinions or right. Just different. I for one like to look at the different discussions and get a fresher outlook on things.
