Dumping trash on the side of the road! I have more pride than that!

I was driving home from my job tonight and noticed a very used chair sitting on the side of a road, just on the edge of a wooded area. Now this particular road has no houses on it, just woods. So it is not like they put it out for bulk trash or anything. I figure they received a new chair for Christmas and just dumped the old. They didn't want their front yard to look trashy. What kind of PIG does this? Our country is getting worse and worse. Travel any road and all you see is the trash people throw out of their vehicle as they drive. How hard is it to wait to get where you are going to throw it out? Years ago I lived in Europe and their roads were so much cleaner than ours. Don't we have any pride? Every year we have scouts clean our roads for extra money and you wouldn't believe how much trash they collect! Then within a week it is trashed again. The sad part is the person who trashed the chair is the person who tells me when I don't do something they approve of. They are the one who thinks their stuff doesn't stink and they don't want the chair in their yard because it will be a week or more before the bulk come and get it. So dropping it in the woods is ok. It is their right. Well it is not!!!!! Take some pride in your town and home! Show our children that it is wrong to trash up our towns, cities and our country!!! As they used to say, "Put litter in its place!"

In indiaevery thing has a value so unused chairs can be sold i get some money and the buyer makes a living ,even then if this type of system is not in place in other countries one needs to adhere to the laws and customs of the country, not go about dumping litter any and every where.

That is great to hear. If someone was handy with reupholstering they could take this chair and redue it then maybe sell it or give it to someone who has less. But I do not do that and do not have the money to pay someone to do it. also we dont know if it is damaged or not. Thanks so much for your post and Happy New year.

We never throw trash out of the car or take trash to the woods. My grandchildren evern pick it up when we are walking through a parking lot at the mall. These people probavly are too cheap to pay for trash pick up.

If more people were like you the world would be a better place. And maybe a little cleaner. But it shouldn't be up to the rest of us to clean up after them. Thanks for your response.

I must admit this chair was worn and tattered. I probably would cost a bit to have it redone. And we dont know what was done on it. But thanks for your comment.

Yeah that is just disgusting. I would never dump trash at the side of the road. If you desperately want to dump your trash somewhere, find the nearest dump and do so there.

We used to live on a fairly busy road and people would throw all kinds of trash in our yard. it was a nightmare to cut the grass down by the road because of all the bottles and junk thrown out. It's sickening. One night my wife and I were out on our deck and we saw a truck pull off on the shoulder. I thought they had broken down or something. next day there was an old beat-up recliner sitting where the truck had stopped. I just don't know what these people are thinking.

Obviously they dont use their brain very much. We live on a main road too and many times my husband has mowed over stuff that could potentially be dangerous. It didnt notice the item until he was right on it. Thanks for your comment.

That is sad because there are so many people with out furniture they could have called a service and they would have picked it up. There are alot of people that would do things like that just not to be bothered, it's sick.

So true. It makes my stomach hurt to see the trash that people throw. And they don't think twice about it! This same place has been a "dump" for bags of trash too! I would love to catch them. I would so turn them in. Thanks for your response.

I could never do that. the guilt consumes me when I throw trash on the ground in my own home. I'm teaching my kids to never litter. it's just a bad habit and it's not helping the environment.

You are right. Salvation Army or Goodwill would pick up the items and clean them up for more unfortunate familys to use. I just dont understand how people can do that. Unless they expect some one will want it an take it. But I have found that if you put furniture on the side of the road for pickup someone will stop and get it. I put a sewing machine out before Xmas and some one took it. All it needed was a little work. Thanks for commenting.

I hate mess, much more of people who doesnt care about the environment, I sure hope their garbage wont go back to them... Everything has its place ... I dont see how it will be difficult for some to look for a garbage can so they can throw it properly, or wait for the garbage man to pick up the garbage before dumping it somewhere else... thats just LAZY

Yes, you are right. And I think people are getting lazier and lazier. But the funny thing here is the trash men come every week. And bulk is picked up monthly. so there is no excuse for what they did. Thanks for posting.

It is so wrong to just throw things without properly disposing of the stuff. It's both disgusting and unsanitary. Everything has a proper place to be put in. Hey if you want to be a pig keep it in your own house. Not were people have to come across it.

We have an elderly couple in the town where I live who live on a huge estate and are probably among the wealthiest people in America. They take long walks in the area and stop to pick up every piece of litter they come across and put it in the township trash bins. They've shamed a lot of the rest of us into picking up random bits of litter.

That is so great and it is good for children to see. That is why the boy scouts once a year do a road clean up here. It also gives them funds for their troop. Thanks for posting.

it's bad nowadays with people throwing trash out or rubbish etc, outside my back garden people put their rubbish there just because they don't want it in there garden and it causes rats and mice makes me so angry but these people obviously just don't care as longs as they can't see it! i always put my rubbish in the bin/ waste because i don't want to live in a filthy place.

Unfortunatly this is down to laziness, nomatter where you go you will find someone dumping trash, It would be great if you could get fined for dumping trash.

It is illegal to dump trash. I think a $500 fine. But you have to catch them. I would love to catch them and i would for sure turn them in. What is funny is it took them more work to dump there than to just set it on the edge of their property for bulk pick up in a few weeks. I guess they didnt want to look at it daily. And bulk is free. Dont understand. thanks for posting

Yes, I couldn't agree with you more. There is so much junk and trash on the sides of the road, I don't understand why people just throw things out like that. Especially since there are so many trash cans everywhere for people to properly dispose of litter and junk. I see tons of stuff on the side of the road all the time, especially when I travel, I am amazed at the things people just toss out, furniture, clothes, shoes, food containers, anything and everything. WE as Americans should take more pride in our country and help keep it looking neat and clean.

Pride is something that is taught. The people trashing probably learned it from their parents. I have always taught my children to put their trash where it belongs. If you drive anywhere it always has trash and that is so sad. How hard is it to even stop at a gas station and throw it away. I dont know what the answer is but our country is getting trashier and trashier. Thanks for commenting.

I agree with you, it is so sad when people dump trash on the side of the road. Personally, we are lucky. We live in an appartment complex that has a dumpster outback. Our trash company will take just about anything you put in there. We have never put furinture in there before, but some of our neighbors have and they have taken it. Another good idea that many people don't think about, thus causing them to dump their unwanted goods, is the Salvation Army or something similar. Many of them donation places will take items that are in all types of conidtion. If you don't want it, they will usually just get rid of it themselves, in the correct way.

Yes about the Salvation Army. And they are readily available. There is also a delinquent boys home near by so they could have donated there. No one thinks. Thanks for responding.

I think the very same as yourself! I'm living in Ireland and it goes on over here all the time too. The amazing thing is people seem to know just right where to dump their lot, on land that seems to be as out of the way as possible. But that is usually someone elses land. Just because they would not like their gardens and homes to look trashy they will go and trash anywhere else espically if they can't see it. People try to get rid of their unwanted things all the time. I worked with someone that used to go and dump their old stuff and rubbish into the big skips and bins at work. They wanted to get rid of things and could not afford proper refuse bags and bins, but at least they did not litter the place. Litter is very prominant espically after christmas. We leave our rubish at a recycling refuse centre. Just after christmas it was still not open, gates closed, no notice of when it would reopen. We saw people get out of their cars and dump bags of rubbish and bottles all over the side of the main road at the entrance! Who is going to clean that up? It is about pride and people need to take some responsability for their actions. Your children will see this, if they get bad examples as parents today god only knows what tomorrow will be like!

You are so right. I guess people think they are better and some else should clean their messes. Well I dont know what is in the trash or where it comes from. I clean up my yard but that is it. We all need to take responsibility for our own actions. Thanks for posting.

I hate littering and I hate litterbugs. I hate it so much that I volunteered with my city council to pick it up on the side of the highway during the summer. Little did I know that I would be alongside with some juvenile delinquints. Lol, a new experience for me

I hate when someone put trash on the road..if they going to have trash in their car, they need a bag to put in it until they get home. When my hubby & I first hooked up (10 years ago) He had a habit of throwing trash out the window. When First seen him do that, WELL lets say he stopped!!! MOMMA rules. best believe
