My grandmother took care of us when our parents were at work.. Now, my mom is the one taking care of my babies because me and my bf have lour own works.. Its a very dedicated and fascinating work for them..it just shows how our moms loves us very much..By the way, I have two kis..9 and 3..so its really a tough job for them.

My mother watches my kids alot she is so sweet.

I watch my grandson for different reasons, but I have him a lot. I may start a day care home if I cannot secure full-time employment within the next month. I enjoy working with young children. They bring a special joy to life.

babystar, my mom was about the only babysitter my daughters ever had. It really helped to create an amazing bond between them. My mom (who passed away in Nov. 2004) loved her grandchildren so very much and they returned that love in equal amounts (or quite possibly more!). Mom used to say that being a grandparent was the most amazing thing... in fact, she said "If I had known it was going to be this much fun being a grandmother, I would have done that first!!" ;) All the best to you. You are doing a wonderful thing for your grandkids.

I watch my grandchildren while their parents are working and have for the past 10 years. Now that they are school age I still watch them before and after school. It's AWESOME :-)

I do not personally care for any of my grands, but I wanted to tell you about my mother. She is almost 75 years old. She adopted my sister's baby 27 years ago, so that was her grand daughter she raised, this same granddaughter had children, my mother adopted her 1st baby, that would be my mother's great grandchild, she also helped to raise for the first 5 years of the 2nd child's life. My mother thinks it is her mission on earth to raise other people's kids, while she and I differ on this, my mom is amazing to have done all that she did and still does. My kids are just beginning to have children, so who knows I may be babysitting for them in the future. You sound like a proud gramma :)

There r plenty of grandmothers in this wrold who take care for their grandkids. I know a lady whom son and daghter-in-law do job and she takes care of her grandbabies. I think that there is nothing bad in taking care of grandkids but Parents themselves try to look after their babies bcuz once, a Mom gives duty of her own babies in her youth and then she has to be alert all time and takes care of grandkids in her old age. Its difficult for many old women to handle naughty babies.
