Does a love of learning depend on your age?

I really didn't like going to school while I was in elementary, junior high, or high school. I couldn't wait to get out of school, and I didn't want to go to any more school for the rest of my life. When I was over 40 and my mother-in-law died, I decided to try going back to school to get out of the house for a while. To my amazement I really enjoyed school and learning. I'm wondering why I hated school in high school and loved it as a 40+ year old woman in college.

I don't think love of learning depends on your age. I also didn't like junior high, or high school for that matter. It wasn't until I got older that I really developed a love for learning. I still enjoy learning about all kinds of different things. I think a lot of us don't care for our school years because it's so boring. If teachers would find a way to spark the students interest, there'd probably be more kids that would find learning new things interesting.

I don't think you can equate love of learning with love of schoool. Many people are lifelong learners, and love learning, who didn't like school ,uch as a kid. And I'll bet people who love to learn stay younger longer.

I think it's more dependant on experience in life than age. At school it's more a chore, you 'have' to do it and you're never really allowed to explore what you like and and be praised for it or achieve anything. Later in life it's easy to back to certain aspects you've always been interested in, or learn something new. Striving to improve ourselves.
