Now that I'm a stay at home mom, we have a limited budget. I'm always looking for new ways to save money. A friend directed me to this website that I found both interesting and amusing. I am vegetarian and I even found some low cost recipes to try. It includes several interesting articles including how to feed your family on $45 a week. Check it out at: www.hillbillyhousewife.com

Great site, thanks for sharing it. I don't think her prices on the grocery list were very accurate though...I don't think there are any stores in my area that have groceries for that cheap. .25 for salt and .50 for pepper?? 1.50 for peanut butter? I wish! LOL

I agree completely about the prices. She definately is not living in Upstate NY!

maybe if you buy them in bulk? I normally get my spices and stuff that way (well the ones i don't grow myself). It's WAY cheaper.

I will check this site out! I love the name of it and I think just by that I will for sure like the site. I used to be able to feed my family for that, but I don't think that I could now ! I will have to see how she does it and maybe I can at least cut some costs on mine. It never hurts to try!!

Great site! Thanks for sharing that with us! I have twins and many of the ideas will come in very handy! I didn't see any dog items, but then I just took a brief look...it would be great to make my own dog food!

that has been one of my favorite sites for over a year! That site is fun and factual. I agree her prices are out of date majorly, but for the most part, shes spot on. I will say that we have tried a good portion of her recipes, if you need a recommendation, let me know!

Thanks so much for posting this website. What an interesting site for frugally minded people. I also am a stay at home mom. Unfortunately, I have a household of picky eaters lead by their ring leader and fellow picky eater father. Hopefully, I can use some of the tips anyhow. I know they all love Wendy's frosty's so those would be great if we make and they really like them. Thanks again.

That website is a very handy place! I have used their site to learn out how to use a breadmaker I had acquired. It has really helped me!

Thank you for the link, I'm a stay at home mom also and always looking for ways to save. Howeve the prices for food are way off base. I might be able to get small bottles of salt and pepper pack for $1.00 at a dollar store. LOL I will try the recipes, but where I live in Sac, CA no way are the prices even close. Good luck to you here at mylot!

Thanks for the website- I will have to look at it. I am a stay at home mom, too and we too have a limited budget. That is just something that you sacrifice for being able to spend the time with your kids and watch them grow up. I am always looking for all the ways I can to save more money!
