Do you donate to charity? If so, why? I only donate to non-profit organisations, so that the money/items go where it is needed. Do you donate your own clothes, i.e. to the opportunity shops?

I'd love to offer helpwhere it's needed. Yet I'm not in a situation in which I can offer a lot of money. I donate my clithes and help people on the spot if they need it. I even give food to the homeless from time to time, like buying them something to eat, when I ran into someone begging for money in front of the shop. And to tell you the truth, there are so many organisations eho profit from the means we attend to give away for the helpless. I'd rather help the person financally directly. I know of some cases, where you donate some money every month, not that much, for an individual child, somewhere in Africa, to pay for the school and some food. You get his portfolio, you are being informed about his progress,... I think this is a very honest way of help. When I get in the position in which I'll have more than enough means for myself and my family, I'm sure I'll help those in need of some.

The new useful things I give it to 2 schools once in 6 months. This include Pokemon activity books, colour pen sets, pencils, bread boxes etc. At least it benefits 500 needy students of the school.

Yes, I do, engineous...I always make sure to clean out my closet for old clothes every year. I will ask a friend to bring it to some poor rural areas or to the vitims of natural disaster. I also donate money to some orphanages. I feel that we should extend our hand to those needy and less fortunate people. Some of us were blessed with a good life, why not share a portion of those blessings to others.

When I was working I used to donate to the United Fund at the work place. Now that I am on a limited pension it is not as easy but when I can I will put some coins in the various charities like the cancer society, the red cross, and the volunteer firemen here in Portugal. I also give away clothes, knick knacks and other things that can be sold at a local kermesse where the money earned goes to orphanages and poor families.

I've donated to a few charities before. One thing about non-profit, they can actually use like 80% of the money you donate for something else. So I now only donate to organizations I've thoroughly researched (generally non-profits, but not always). I sometimes donate clothes and items as well. I don't care about getting a tax receipt, I just care that the organization is actually using the money they get for a cause, or giving the clothes directly to people who need them. I also volunteer with a couple different charities, so sometimes I am able to pick up some items as well.

I donate to the needy first hand, it's much better when you know who deserve it and you get it to them directly, i donate cloth and little money as I can afford it, not that i don't trust charities, if I had bigger sums to distribute I would donate it to charities.

Yes i do... I believe that we have to donate atleast one percent of our earnings to the poor and needy people... and five percent of our earnings have to be spent in God's service... By doing that we can get the blessing of God as well as wishes of the poor people to whom we have donated money.... and by doing this we can lead a blessed, happy and peaceful life....

I have been donating to St Judes Childrens Hospital for about ten years now..It's a fantastic hospital that treats children with cancer..No child is ever turned away from receiving care..insurance or not.. I also donate clothing and food to a local family shelter in my city.. Another great way people can donate is just giving thier time..I try to volunteer for atleast one event a month..I take my daughter along many times because I feel it's important for her to understand how important it is to be involved in helping your community... People don't give to get anything back, but most of the time you will find you feel really good when you've been able to help someone...

I don't directly pay money to charities but always give things to charity chops that are still in good condition that someone can use, usually places that help children or people with special needs. Also work for a homeless charity so hope I am doing more good by doing that than I ever could with material goods.

Nice, I think you must be able to match the specifications to give blood internationally or nationally. What blood type are you and how often do you give?

My days of having garage sales are over. There are a couple of charities that actually pick up your cast-offs at your home. These go into the charity stores where they sell them and the money goes to charity. So I am in affect giving to charity. As for money, I do give to our church every week. Money has been tight so I have had to say no a lot lately to those who phone but I did cave to one last week. I like the ones where organizations put on shows (magic shows, hypnotist shows) and your purchase of tickets is the donation. If you can't go to the show you can donate your ticket to a child who otherwise wouldn't be able to go. And of course, if someone is selling chocolate bars for charity I am not going to turn them down! LOL!
