I really must ask... what is the coolest thing you've ever knit? What is your favorite? For a while I was knitting teddy bears to give to friends, and it was a big hit. They were really cute too. Nothing I'd ever made came out as well as them. Those teddy bears were also my most favorite and first thing I'd ever knit.

Well I'm not too good with the knitting yet so my current project is the coolest to me: a scarf for my son that is done in a checkerboard pattern (knit 4 purl four for 16 stitches across, four rows down and then purl four knit four for 16 stitches across, four rows down).

That actually sounds pretty neat! You've got a one up on me, since I don't know how to purl. I can only do a normal knit. Out of curiosity, do you know of any good websites that can help someone learn how to do purl? I've tried looking, but I didn't come up with anything that could help - or that I could understand.

I don't know if it was the coolest thing ever but I knit my husband a hoodie for the knitting olympics last year and he really likes it and takes every chance he has to show it off. I'm just glad its still in wearable condition since he works in the construction trade and not all of his knits have had a similar fate. I have plans to some day knit the glorious Rogue sweater. The cables on that take my breath away.

Oh, wow! A knit hoodie sounds amazing! I would love to see one - do you have a picture? Is it only something an experianced knitter could really do? I would love to try and make one someday. Just for myself, first.

I think the coolest thing I ever knit was a baby afghan for my granddaughter, 13 years ago. I used all leftover yarn, and tied off each row to make a fringe. It was really colorful and quite pretty. I used different weights of yarn, even, and it turned out very well.

That sounds so creative! It is a great way to get rid of left over yarn, and you made something unique and special!

I love to knit hooded baby sweaters that have the zipper in the back. I make them for all of my friends and family that are expecting a baby. My grandbabies come first of course. It doesn't take long to whip one up.

Those sound pretty cute. Do you have any pictures of one? Is their a pattern somewhere online that you know of? That sounds like something I'd like to learn how to make!

Thanks for the link. I remember knitting teddy bears in the 8th grade. This looks similar to the same ones.

No problem! The pattern I used for the teddy bears can be found here: http://members.tripod.com/~JillMC/teddy.html I love the pattern since it's so simple and easy. Not to mention they come out so cute looking =) If you make one, you must tell me how it turns out!

I think the coolest thing I've ever knit was a newborn set for a friend's new baby. It was a hat, shirt, diaper-cover, and booties.
