Which do you prefer, carpet or a wood floor? And why?

I like a mixture. I like wood in the living room, dining room and hallways but I like carpet in the bedrooms. For some reason though, we have a huge area rug that covers most of the wood floor in the living room, but the wood is so pretty where it's visible and in the hallway. It makes me feel rich to have wood floors.

I agree. I have bare wood floors cause I love looking at it. :) It was just what I wanted and I love how rich it looks. Easy to sweep and clean too!

Sweep and clean? When do you find time to do that? :)

LOL...well lets see, in between making products, taking orders, caring for all the animals, taking my daughter to work, laundry, dishes, taxes for my 2 businesses, paying bills, phone calls, and other housework, I usually manage a quick dance around the carpet in den and a sweep of the floors. But, let me tell you, it does NOT happen everyday. Sleep? I don't remember what that is. :)

Personally I prefer a combination of the two both wood floors and carpeting.

I have allergies and pets. As a result, I require wood floors. They are so easy to keep dust free and no dander trapped in carpet. I love the look of solid oak floors and the feel of the air when wood floors are present. The air is fresher and smells cleaner. If I want the feel of carpet, I can add throw rugs.

Wood floors are pretty but I love to walk barefoot all the time :) Kinda the barefoot and pregnant approach LOL My picture here is when I was 9 months pregnant I just cut off my big ole belly. I want nice soft plush carpet to run my toes thru.

Definately a wood floor in the living areas, if I could afford it, but I'd stick to carpet in the bedrooms.

I prefer wood floors like I had in my home in NW Florida years ago. We have carpeting now (here in South FL); but when we retire and move further north in FL, we plan to have wood floors again. I really think they are easier to clean, at least they were for me. We'll be up in your area in mid-April at the Rainbow Rivers Club and plan to look around that whole area to see where we might like to retire later this year. We do love that part of Florida.

I don't like wooden floors because they are cold and you can get splinters from them, I much prefer carpets, although I do not like to have carpet in the kitchen or bathroom, it is not necessary. But definitely need a carpet in my bedroom especially in the winter!

I definately prefer a wood floor. We had carpeting for years and finally took the carpet up. I think it's easier to maintain and there is less dust in the house. Lloyd

I like wooden floor or vinyl type. I also like carpets on floors but not on my floor. Because carpets needs to be maintained. It is harder to clean, epecially if there are liquid spills. Or it's just that I am so lazy.
