Do your myLot friends COPY your discussions?

Ireland

I'm shocked and dismayed! I've noticed a couple of my myLot friends actually copying my discussions. It seems they asked to be my friends, then browsed my topics, and then copied the ones with the most responses. Has this happened to anyone else? I can't believe people could be so awful. I've responded by deleting them. What else is there to do? :(

I'm sorry to hear that this happen to You. It's so terrible when someone going to copy your creative discussion. It's also sad that You can only report these discussions and hope someone will read your report. I'm lucky for now nobody have been copy my discussion , since I have only two started and don't have so much friends.

The sad part about a situation like this, is that people post responses to the copied and pasted topics and then lose their points. Most of the members here are good honest people, but there is always one bad apple who will spoil the fun for others. I have had some frends requests, only to find out later that they just wanted to send spam and chain letteres requesting money. Until some solution is found, the only thing we can do is delete them and get on with enjoying the discussions with the honest people.

I've had a few of the spammers too Alexandria. The minute they send me an e-mail with a get rick idea they're history. So too are people who respond to nothing but "money" posts. I hate people who are consumed by their desire to earn money. There's more to life than money. It's nice to have but not the be all and end all of everything.

Sorry. "Get rick" was meant to be "Get rich".

Then you should use the ! mark next to their post and report them. It is wrong and not permitted. That is why that symbol is there to report things that are going on that aren't right.

Yes, I've done this too. Thank you. It's very unfair. One would think that their "friends" wouldn't do this.

I agree with coolcatzz and also think you should rate them with a negative. People like that don't deserve to be highly rated and should not be anyone's friend.

Well THAT's ballsy :( I'm sorry that people have to be that way, BittyBiddy. I've had a fair number of my myLot discussions copied and pasted, word for word, on another site. As it's against their clearly posted guidelines (for taking content from other sites and presenting it as your own), I've reported them with proof... but the posts are not being taken down... so what's the point of wasting my time? I've noticed that topics started by others here have been used the same way. I guess I, like you folks, am too honest. I take the time to make up original topics (or at least I try to make them original!). Plus, if I have already answered a discussion here, I won't answer it again elsewhere. I just enjoy online community and am not in it for a money grab.

thinkingoutloud, I've noticed my posts being used on another site too, word for word. I reported too and there was nothing done so I just don't look any more. I get too angry.

I have found one that has similar that were made after I made mine. But then again, I've discovered that I've, unintentionally started discussions on the same topics. I didn't mean too, and I didn't notice they had made them until later. If it's a repeat case that this person does it over and over again, I would report it.

This would cause me to cut them off my friendslist, ofcourse they can still browse your topica but atleast they will not be your friends.. Just report them coz they are not following mylot rules and policy! Also be careful with who you befriend=)

I thought I was being careful.:( I usually don't accept any "junk" discussion starters. It just goes to show that even if someone has decent discussions they COULD all be copied.

Nope I have not noticed this yet, but thanks for the warning, I will be on the lookout. Maybe you should list the names of the friends so that we could ignore them when they request to be friends, or even just delete them from our frinds lists. Report them!

Well volschenkh, if I see it happening again I'll send all my friends a pm with the name of this person. I have deleted them from my friends list so I hope that it won't happen again.

He can't be thinking I copies his discussion when mine was started first and he so obviously copied it. I'm wise to these guys.

Report to the admin. Such lousy people need to be banned immediately. I had one guy banned who had got onto my friend lsit and then was happily copying my topics.

It happened to me once that I'm aware of, and I reported it lickety split. Haven't seen him since, so either I'm practicing good avoidance or the mods booted him. I sympathize.

woah!!! talk about being back-stabbed... this is the exact reason why i dont accept any friend requests from people i dont know from mylot... i only accept requests from my close pals who are already in mylot! were these backstabbers your close pals? either ways, they ought not to have done what they did... so all u did was delete them? couldnt u have found some way of having revenge that could conform to hte mylot guidelines? like for instance, you could have reported them against mylot! and u could have gone to the discussions they had strted and rated them negative.... tht would have reduced atleast their earnings by a significant amount,,, well u can still do these things... well good luck and see to it that no one else makes such a big fool of you again!

I see the same topics coming up every now and again but I think it's just because everything has been said. I haven't seen anything so blatant as actually copying a friend's discussion. Most of my discussions don't get much response but if something like that did happen to me, I don't think I'd be shocked and dismayed. I think I'd be infuriated.
