Do some people just NOT have mirrors in their house?

Have you ever seen a person that is absolutely disgusting in their attire? I'm talking things like the low rise jeans that shows half their crack and makes even the skinniest of girls look like they have a huge booty. Large people, overweight, that wear skin tight clothes and belly shirts with guts hanging over. Girls that wear skin tight tops to show off their boobs but instead look like they're having major fall out issues. What is with it? Do they not have a mirror? Do they not have friends that go with them when they buy clothes that say "no,doesn't look good"? Or what?

Its not that they have no mirrors, Its because they have the confidence to look in the mirror and say "I love myself and I don't give a stuff what anyone thinks"

I agree with you, I don't care what anyone thinks. That's their attitude.

I'm not being mean and judging others but I'm talking when it's really atrocious and shouldn't be done. I don't care if it's their style and it's not mine or something.. no biggie but when it's something just disgusting to look at.. ugh! LOL I guess maybe it's because I'm a bigger girl and I am very picky about how I look in clothes, as far as anything "hanging out" LOL I'm not too concerned if someone "likes" my look but I don't want to flash flesh that just shouldn't be seen out in public!

On the contrary, hockeygal4ever, you are making a judgement of others based on your perceptions and experiences. And while you may not intentionally being mean, someone who fits your perceptions might find your use of words to be a bit demeaning. My $0.02 at the moment.

Who is really to say what is disgusting, or doesn't look good? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder isn't it? I do agree thought hat some people should wear certain clothes and some clothes shouldn't be worn by anyone. That's just my opinion though and that's all it is.

Laughs out loud when I raised this issue about guys showing their underwear by having their trousers down to their knees I was told that it was fashion! Fashion I thought, no? how can it be fashionable to show all and sundry what underwear you are wearing? And girls wearing tops up to their midriffs showing off their navels and such and skirts which barely cover anything. I think I'm getting too old but if this is fasion then I'm glad I'm fully out of it!

I'm still glad the trousers-down-to-your-knees fashion never actually reached Europe. I saw the beginning of that in the USA, and I seriously couldn't help but laugh. How can they not notice it looks like you just pooped in your pants? Plus, who wants to see ugly guys' underwear? It has NOTHING appealing to the eye.

Hey Hockeygal, here's a bit of inferential logic to consider - the boobie cleavage is considered by anthropologists to be a proxy for the butt cleavage, which is the proximate target of the reproductive exercise for most gorillas and other primates... the theory being that simulating the natural stimulus in a socially acceptable manner will induce an equivalent response to that which would otherwise follow from the more direct display... SO - these kiddies who are showing their posterior portions have bravely and selflessly enlarged the envelope of social acceptability to include the original debaucherous stimulus that, to this point in our culture, has been suppressed in favor of the boobie boomers... Something of a pioneering lot, you might say...

I believe the reason for this has so much to do with how sociey in general feels everyone should look and they make these clothes knowing that the people will buy them hoping to look that good . I won't wear any of the styles unless I feel comfortable in them but see a lot of my friends trying to stay in touch with the styles for different reasons .

I think it has less to do with the mirror and more with the fact that some people enjoy wearing gravity-defying clothing (even when it doesn't.) If only there was something we can do, but I guess the best option is to avert your eyes. Or point and stare.

I always wonder - do they not have mothers? My daughter is 26 and I am brutally honest with her on how she looks and she's exactly the same with me. When I ask her "does my butt look big in this?" or "how do I look?" she really tells me the truth!

Thank you! My girls and I are the same way. I'm not rude but I am honest! We ALL have a "vow" to each other to be honest!!!! Sometimes I overkill the "fatness" thing and my girls will go "mom, get a size smaller, you are floating in that" LOL

Oh there is nothing worse then seeing a woman my age trying to dress like she's a teenager. I'm PROUD to be where I am... matured enough to present myself in my own manner that fits me. Why on earth would I want to fit in with a teenage crowd?! LOL But you do see it. Kind of sad too.

I think its due to all the hype about fashion. Fashion is an act of corporations literally playing with the public as one would play with one's food by dreaming up stupid-looking clothes, claiming they're 'in', 'stylish' or 'cool' then selling these clothes for stupid amounts of money. Anyone with sense would wear just what's casual and comfortable. People will wear cloting that just does not suit the figure, and they will think they are hip, but in reality they look rediculous!!!

That is true, the fashion world has a way of taking the incredulous and making the average person desire it. Perhaps the change of no more waif models will help the situation, because the average person is far from 'waif' by most standards.

Wow-- I say people should be able to wear whatever they feel comfortbale in. I have seen alot of heavier women wearing skimpy clothes- Sure it doesn't look good to me.. It actually makes me want to say to them- WHat the heck are you thinking?? But then I think to myself-- Wow-- think of the self-esteem that person has to be able to go out in public like that- They must think pretty high of themselves and if they are comfortable with it-- then thats all the matters. Soceity has made woman feel like we need to be a size 0.. So I say go for it ladies-- Dress how you feel comfortable. Now I'm certainly not comfortable like that-- I'm most comfortable in jeans and a t. And I'm not overweight- (well ok 10 lbs. lol)

I had a cousin who was over 400 pounds. Yes, 400. She would go to the beach in a 2 piece swim suit! Now I'm sorry, NOBODY wants to SEE that! LOL I just think there are limits. Later in life she went and had the gastric bypass done because she hated herself so much. Sad part was, even after a huge weight loss she still has tons of mental issues. It's not really a matter of having self-esteem, honestly. She is the perfect example of it. At 400 pounds she wore halters, half tops, 2 piece swimsuits, you name it. She also slept with any male counterpart that would have her and believe it or not there were a LOT. It's disgusting. All of her actions actually pointed to the fact that she DIDN'T like herself. So many times it's actually the opposite of what they're trying to come across as.

i think people should wear what they feel comfortable in. although on the other hand i feel thats why there are so many sizes in clothes, is so that individuals can by their "own" size. but i say if it makes the person happy go for it

Exactly... often my first thought for a girl that is wearing a pair of pants or top that is just way too small is.. ya know.. they make that a size up honey! Sad part is, they COULD still be "in fashion" and buy it to fit usually!

yes, i agree with you. there are not 2 or 3 persons who are like this but i think there are loads of them walking down the street or in the office. infact i have a colleague who always shows half her butt off in the office. its disgusting. i don't know why she realise that it looks really bad. people laugh at her. i've often noticed that fat people wear skin-tight clothes just to show that they are not fat and they can manage to get inside a tight pair of jeans.instead they end up looking like stuffed sausages!

Oh don't even get me started on "office attire". Women in mini skirts up around their belly buttons, shirts so tight they look like they're going to pop. And they are clueless that this is NOT "office attire".

I personally find it unattractive when I see people wearing clothes that clearly do not suit them and I cringe when I see girls leaning over and their butts hanging out and I have to look away. BUT... Fashion is an individual thing and what looks weird or unappealing to me looks good to others. There are more important things to worry about than what others are wearing. Instead I prefer to worry about what I want to wear that makes me comfortable. I used to hate it at college when girls would get gang up and tease other girls about their dress sense. Many of them looked pretty stupid to me but I never made comments either way as I firmly believe it's individual choice. Those catty girls spent more time criticsing others' fashion sense and not enough time on their studies and most of them had to repeat their courses to pass long after the rest of us had passed and moved on. If my friend wore something that did not look good on her I would try to tell her diplomatically that it wasn't her best look but if she insisted on wearing I would have to respect her decision to attract attention (even if it was the wrong kind of attention).

I have always been someone to be honest with my friends and family too when it comes to fashion. I have a sister that does exactly what I'm talking about... wears things unbecoming to her. She asks me my opinion ever time, KNOWING that her sense of fashion and mine are definitely NOT the same. I always tell her, no... it's too tight or no, it shows your roll, etc. and she says "Well I like it". I just laugh and tell her, well then that's all that matters since YOU are buying it!

I don't know if I'd say disgusting because it's a strong word. I'll rephrase it and say they leave "much to be desired" lol. I think some people do it for fashion statements thinking it's going to get them more looks. And their friends probably don't want to hurt their feelings or under the same concept lol. I just try to ignore it and be thankful that God blessed me with a keen sense of fashion.

LOL.. okay... disgusting is the word for some that are truly.. well just disgusting looking. I agree. But that's really the ones I meant. The ones that just "don't look that good" in them, well it is obvious they're just trying to fit in I think. Face it, most of the younger girls haven't ever really, truly had a moment when they've had to worry about their body "fitting" into something yet. I've seen bigger girls wear "hip huggers" that look nice, and covered and truly accent a slightly longer waist to make them look nice. So it's not a matter of the style itself as much as the style that looks best on you.

the problem here is every one wants to dress well and they don't know whether the way they dress suits them or not. With out knowing how to dress, they do it simply because they might have seen the same dressing looks beautiful for some others and they want to imitate the same to get appreciated...But sadly it turns out to be the other way around...What do you say?

I agree, it's usually those that dress to "fit in" and don't dress to accent what they have and looks nice on them.

They may not look good. But boy what I'd give to have that kind of confidence. It takes a very confident person to wolk down the street and not give a hoot what other people think.

I'm not so sure they have confidence. If they're forced to "look like everyone else" by wearing what the others wear, even if it doesn't look good on them... how confident are they really? Most that I've seen tend to be followers. I say this out of having 3 teens and seeing in the group who wears what and why. There is one bigger girl I just adore. She wears "fashionable" clothes and looks nice, but she wears them in HER size. There's another bigger girl that looks like trailer trash because everything she wears is 3x too small, rolls hanging over, thinks it's sexy because her thong is sticking out (I cannot eve IMAGINE what that thong looks like underneath!) and basically acts like she doesn't care. Sad part is, if she didn't care, she would wear things that she wasn't always pulling down and adjusting. That alone is a sign that they aren't comfortable.

Unfortunately, this is called fashion. People who don't reveal half of their anatomy in their everyday clothes are considered incredibly fashion "inept" according to my kids. My personal opinion of the fad isn't so polite.

The sad part is, even the fashion "experts" say it's not appealing on most people unless you are truly rail thin! I guess I just prefer to keep most of my body to myself, I dunno!

Some follow the trend regardless of body type. I mean, some just want to wear what's IN, even if it means having to wear that skinny jeans. For me, it has always been comfort. What I feel comfortable wearing. So if they want to wear such clothes and they feel comfortable and confident wearing it, well and good. :-)

Haha I see those alot, I think it's the new "style" around now... I don't really mind it, but sometimes the clothes are just... way beyond too tight. I also notice guys wear loose baggy jeans that's literally falling off their waists. And those... Do-rag things. O_o
