MyLot Users

How many members of MyLot are using it at any one time. With more than 70,000 members then there could be times when the server comes close to capacity and the system could slow down. However to reassure members then even with 70,000 people then there may not be all that many at the one time. First of all MyLot is open to people from just about every country in the world, ie users will use it for 24 hours a day, I would also imagine that the majority of people will not stay longer than 3 hours, (I know some could be on as long as 10, but others will only be here for half an hour). So divide 70,000 by 8, that leaves 8750. Now not everyone is active. I have 3 referrals, none of them active, and I have heard of a lot of others writing about that happening to them, so if we assume that only half the members of MyLot are active members then that leaves 4375 members. Not every member is active every day, they have tv to watch, relatives to visit, games to play, other computer work to do, so I would assume that only half the members would be active in any one day, then that leaves 2188. Some members who were active will be temporarily absent for various reasons, hospital visits, holidays, studying and other reasons as well, so assume 20% are temporarily absent that leaves 1750. My estimate is that even with 70000 members then it is likely that less than 2000 of them will be active at any one time. It would be interesting if MyLot could actually put a counter of members using MyLot at any one time.

I have seen counters on a few sites , it is quite interesting to See how many are on at one given time , My friend has a website for parents and carers of children with autism , and when you log on you can actually see the names of the others logged on at the same time , xx

While MyLot is a good site, there is always room for improvements, and hopefully it will become one of the best sites to use in the future.

Wow, Eskimo you really did your homework on this one. I've noticed that at times there are problems that seem to be with Mylot and I have to post two or three times to get anything up. I just always assumed that it was a busy time. A counter would be nice. That way I could tell when it was generally the least busy and try to use it then....Thanks for the info.

My, you have certainly done your homework. You are most likely correct because I was on another website to-day and there are 17000 registered members but only 51 were active on the site, so that was less than 25% of the members. I agree with you that a counter would be a good idea. My daughter has one on her site and I always check to see how many members are active on it.

Your match about Mylot at one time is very right and it is interesting. It would be good to know how many members are online for any point of time, for that Mylot can put an option like some other websites do.

Very interesting, as you know, this answers the question I posed regarding the amount of members influencing our myLot problems. Thank you putting it in such clear detail

I think it would be very interesting to know how many people are online at any one time or what is the average frequency of resposes. Do you know what I mean? If I post a response to a discussion how long will it be before the next response to any discussion is posted. I would say there must be at least 1 or two postings a second but how will we really know.

Only way you can tell is by continually refreshing the new discussion page, and see how long it takes for the first discussion to drop off the first page, it also shows the time the discussion started or the last response was posted, I've seen the first post on the page dissapear in less than 10 seconds, just now it is between 1 and 2 minutes.

responses go much faster than new discussions, so there are a lot of people on MyLot at the moment
