Is Cinderella 3 worth watching or should they leave the classics alone?

My youngest daughter is a Cinderella fanatic. She watches the original Cinderella movie every afternoon. Someone gave me a copy of Cinderella 2 and I inwardly cringed. Usually when someone tries to make a sequel to a classic it is a really bad film. We watched it and were pleasantly surprised at how good it really was. Now they have come out with Cinderella 3. Are there any Cinderella fans out there who have seen this? Did you think it was worth watching or should they have stopped with part 2?

My daughter - who also LOVES Cinderella - REALLY, REALLY likes Cinderella 3. Since buying it a little over a week ago, I'd say we have watched it at least 10 times. Granted she is younger and just enjoys Cinderella, but this movie is "faster paced" (more action) than the original, so I think it's easier for someone younger to be more interested. I did not see Cinderella 2. *I* personally like Cinderella 3. It's fits with Disney's "bad witch" type character like in Sleeping Beauty and Snow White. For a sequel, this is one of the few that I DO enjoy.

Yay! That is what I was hoping to hear. I hate spending $20.00 on a movie and having it be a huge disappointment. Thanks for the advice.

My daughter, who is 8, is just dying to see this. She really liked both of the others and she thinks 3 will be terrific. I am glad I came across this discussion because I think it really helps us all do away with beign scared that this movie will be awful. I like the idea of it being more fast paced. I think my daughter will be happy when she sees it. thanks for sharing.

I feel that making sequels actually stops the flow of "magic" that was felt from the original classics like disney movies. I like the idea of imaginations wandering and making their own endings after the first ending. I have not seen the second or third. I guess because I don't want to. If your daughter really wants to watch I guess she will probably still like it since she finds everything about Cinderella magical. That's good for her. I hope she enjoys it. ^^

I tend to agree with you in most cases. However, after buying this movie for my daughters they can't stop talking about how great it is.

what? theres part 3.. actually i dont like sequel of classic movies.. i like to leave it jsut like that. sometimes sequel movies ruin the essense of the first one. well, yeah it maybe ok to check it out but i dont think that it will be that good.

Part 2 was pretty good as far as I am concerned, but I know what you mean about sequels sometimes ruining the essense of the first one.

I loved the classic disney movies when I was growing up.. Heck I still love them. I haven't seen number 2 or 3 but I think I might Netflix number 3. Some of the sequels to the Disney movies have been a disappoitment but it doesn't hurt to give it a try. If you're not sure your family would like it, I'd rent it instead of paying 20 bucks for it.

Seconds and thirds are never as good, but I will watch them anyway. They are still entertaining. I think we compare them to the originals and they never add up, but they are not all bad. I will defiantely be buying the movie. I have a little princess at home that would be so upset if she didnt get to see it, and I might too.

Well, the classics will most likely always be the best. However, We have Cinderella 2 and rented Cinderella 3 (my daughter is 5) last week. I really liked it! LOL I am 26! It was almost more like a regular movie, just animated. My daughter loved it as well. WE have so many (mostly Disney) movies I can't count them all, but we love them all, new and Old!

I am about to find out how good the movie is. My daughter asked her Daddy for it last week he said not today, so she moved right to Grandma. Grandma called and we are going over tomorrow for a Cinderella marathon, Fun Fun Fun LOL! I like the previews I have seen so far, and I am glad to hear that people on here have seen and like it.

A Cinderella marathon? I'll bet Grandma will be on cloud nine. Isn't it funny your daughter knew Grandma would not only buy her the movie, but would turn it into an event. It sounds like fun to me. =)

What was part 2 about? I'm a bit confused. Part 3 reminds me of "Happil N'ever After" which I saw last week. A mess up on a classic story. Why do they keep making seconds for ANY of the movies? I've seen them for fox & the hound, lady and the tramp, 101 dalmations, pochintus, mulan, etc. I dont know if its worth it. It might be cool but at the same time. I think a classic is a classic may they leave the others alone and make new ones instead! Did anyone ever see the ORIGINAL of "The Land Before Time"? Why did they keep making more and more? The original was cool, the second one was okay. But they kept making them. I think they have made like 8 or more sequals now. I dont get why people feel the need to harp on stuff now necessariy. Why DO they do that? Ugh! I just dont get it!

Part 2 was about Cinderella planning a special party without any help from the prince. She had a horrible advisor to help her and finally decided to do things her own way. I don't know if we have the original Land Before Time. I know we have several of those movies and the kids love them.

They better make an awesome story to complement one of the greatest classic stories of all times. Otherwise they will spoil all of it.

I think they should stop making sequels to the classic disney films like cinderella, the second was bad and i can't imagine the third will be any better, it's the same with the little mermaid there's going to be a third one of that.

I feel the same way sometimes. I liked the second Cinderella though. I hate it when they turn the cartoon movie into a weekly TV cartoon like they did with Lilo & Stitch.

I kind of think they should leave the classics alone - you know, just come out with a new release of the same video every generation. It's a nice idea, and something that people would then be able to share with their kids. Now they're just running out of the ability to make up new stories, so they're making sequels instead. It's frustrating.

I never thought about it like that. Interesting & you may be right. I guess I looked at it like they were trying to make a buck off of something that was already a success.

I tend to hate 'remakes' or prequels, sequels of traditional stories .. you'd think they could come up with new stories rather than revisiting old ones .. I suppose they do it to save money but still pump new DVD/videos out for folks to buy, if they are using the same characters no doubt they can reuse a lot of the pictures from older parts of the series .. One of the worst 'remakes' I have seen is the Jungle Book remake .. dreadful .. just dreadful .. I like kiddies movies .. very relaxing and pure fun .. hey even adults need some 'back to being a child' time

My sister took the kids for a day trip once and left my hubby and I to ourselves. We were relaxing on the couch and he was flipping through the channels for something to watch. He found a cartoon show we both liked and left it there. We had been watching it for a few minutes before we looked at each other and burst out laughing. How pathetic is it for a couple of people our age to watch cartoons by choice? lol I have not seen the Jungle Book remake. I will remember not to buy that one for sure.

I didn't actually like part 2 at all. The stories were nice but I don't think they fitted in with my idea of what the characters in Cinderella were like. I don't know anything about this new film except that it is just out for a limited period, so to me it just seems like a way for them to make even more money.

I know what you mean. There are some sequels that are pretty good (or even better than the first movie) like Shrek 2 or Toy Story 2. There are some others that are so bad I just want to yell at them for messing with a classic.

Jungle Book 2 was another of those movies where they spoiled the original story by trying to remake it .. at least with Cinderella they are writing a new part to the original not just rehashing the old story ..

my daughter loves cinderella. she watches it all the time. i haven't seen cinderella 2 because like you i hate sequals. they are never as good. anyway i did however buy her cinderella 3 because she really wanted it. we watched it together and i really enjoyed it. i thought the ending was really sweet and it made me teer up, i'm a huge sap. i think it was worth watching. i liked the music at the beginning that cinderella sings and i love the way she looks when she is all rogh around the edges in this one.

was able to watch some sequels of classic disney like lion kin, little mermaid, etc. what i can say is that the sequel does look lame compared to the previous movie. i hope they did better with the cinderella stuff.

Cinderella III: A Twist in Time - Cinderella III: A Twist in Time, voices Jennifer Hale, Susanne Blakeslee and Tress MacNeille
I haven't seen any of the Cinderella animated movie so far, it's the first time I came to know about it. By reading the story of Cinderella III: A Twist in Time in imdb, it turns out they have twisted the actual story, maybe I will try and get holed of the 3 parts of Cinderella and see how it is ...
