Why do people post here and not respond to their posts? Is it just to make money?

I'm sorry but I find it rather rude to make a post and start a discussion if you are just doing it to accumilate money for making posts. If people are just posting for that reason that is wrong.I really enjoy the people here that I have encountered and appreciate their feedback on issuses.I don't care if people are asking one line questions, that is not not a problem....maybe they can convey their question in one line. I am tired of watching people post junk & not even show the respect to the responders. That is very disrespectful to the responders.

I felt the same way and did a similar discussion a few weeks ago and through that found that in the mylot guidelines it actually says DON'T reply back to your discussions as you aren't paid. So I still respond to most, because I don't care about the money I want people to know that their response was read and the were rated. I think it's very rude to start a discussion and to see questions being asked and they are never answered. A discussion is when people converse back and forth. Just my 2 cents worth. :)

I've just been noticing this alot here & think it's rude.I guess I was venting in a way, but I think some people here just start bs post and don't even care about the time it takes others to respond...I guess you and I are different. (guess you can't go wrong doing the right thing, huh?) :)

I hope not. I'm taking the DON'T as we aren't paying you, if you choose to do so then it's okay. I don't know if that's the case or not. I did stop just saying "thank you for responding" as I felt that I met get in trouble for posting the same response, someone pointed that out to me also. Didn't want to be marked negatively because I was being polite. :)

I think that rule is to discourage people who are just here for the money. You are absolutely right - a discussion goes two ways. I have questions I have asked in replies that are unanswered. It is frustrating.

Yes, it's all about the money and that is how this likes to keep it. Too many are getting hand slaped for saying too much or things in a way a 5 year old can not understand. So it's safer just to focus on the money and move on. Sad really.

Ya know that's what I really like about you (seriously) you don't bs around with your answers...if it's black it's black, if it's white it's white...that's cool...I appreciate your point of view & have very much enjoyed the topics you've started also. :)

I'm a relatively new member and still learning the ropes. I just learned this morning that a poster can choose the best response to their post. I have put that I wsant to be ntified if my posts are responded to, however I get a tremendous amout of email and have several emails and may miss it for a few days. I will respond to it when I see it. Like u, I believe that post (cannot think of word) is worthy (?) respectful (?) of a response. I have not started a post subject yet, I have only repsonded.

My sentiments exactly. I always go back to check to see if a poster has put a comment after my response and not alone am I wasting time in checking, but I also feel I have wated time in responding. I am not here top make a couple of cents for posting responses, I would rather just enjoy taking part in discussions. Sometimes however, I feel like I talking to myself. I have also noticed that some of the posters are so busy moving on to new topics that they haven't bothered to rate a best discussion in any of their previous ones. I have now given up responding to people who do not rate their respondants.

I have not noticed much of this here. I have some discussions that I have started and I have responded to the posts they make to me on alot of them. Some of the posts I do not reply back to them by posting to the discussion, but I will respond to them with a private message or something like that. Some of them have even given me their email address to respond to them also. I still have some responses to reply to also but there is only so much time in a day for me to get all of the things done that I have to do here at home and online. Is someone just posting and never responding? Is that what you are saying?

responding in a private message is a good idea... I will use that also... thank you :) (yes I am referrring to the ones that just post and don't respond at all)

Sadly, most of the people here only post because of the money. If you search, there are many people who joined myLot like 1 week ago and have over 1000 posts !! Thats pathetic ! I hope myLot does something to get over these kind of people, making myLot a better place. Fortunatelly, myLot already does something to prevent this kind of user: it gives people $0.01 for every post. I really think this kind of people should go to other community. There are lots of community that pays like $0.05 per post, so why spam myLot? myLot isn´t about money, it´s about friendship and discussions.

I believe I read somewhere that we only get paid for the first response.

Well then it is up to us to ignore those discussions. If they get few replies then they might leave.

I thought it said in the community guidelines that you're not really supposed to respond to every post.

I am so confused!;) If you look at the button this is a comment. The guidelines say don't thank everyone that responds or comments on your discussion. This will not increase your earnings.

There is no requirement to respond to your responders...I am talking about the people who just post and don't reply after that. :)

It happens to me too. The solution is just reply a good response with no moer comment expectations. I think this is because of ignorence and lack of thorough intrest in the discussion or nothing really intended discussions.

I think you're right.I think alot of people are just replying to reply...just for the points or what have you and not caring any about the subject of the topic.

I agree 100%. I hate that especially since I go back and check to see if anyone has said anything. Wastes time. Ethically I think it is wrong to do so to earn money I may not reply to every respnse I get to my discussions but I do read them AND I reply to many.

I reply to as many (if not all) as I can and I also rate every response because it's the right thing to do :)

One some level, I can appreciate that different people are on myLot for different reasons. On the whole, I'm with you, though-- if you start a discussion, then you are really that discussion's "host" on some level... and part of the fun (at least for me) is going back and responding to people's comments. I may not respond to EVERYone, but certainly to anyone who wrtoe something that made me think a bit about my original post. As you say, discussion is a "dialogue," back and forth between people. I guess all I can really add is that we fortunately have a choice as to whom we add to our friends lists... and I choose to add the people who consistently add quality content.

I can see where you are coming from because there are times when I go to check my discussions I started and not one person has written back. Having said that, I myself can not write back to every one sometimes. There are times i am too busy and can not write back or quite simply what they wrote was not worth even writing back to. Some people write back nonsence, just agreeing with me.

There's nothing wrong with getting paid for your time...everyone should. I'm talking about the people that just post and post and post without showing appreciation to their responders. I think it's a two way street. :)

I do see allot of responds that are useful though. I did come here when I heard you can make money, but I also see many posts in which I can share my own experience. Plus, it is known that when you actually put time and effort into it you make more, or so I read, so that probably persuades people to actually read, think, and give advice that is needed. I see some stupid responses like "Deal with it" and crap and thats just stupid, but if this site pays honestly, they won't get anything for that, so that might show them not to. I think a small pay is a good incentive to persuade others to be helpful, we do need much more support in our communities now adays, however we get it.

I can see if they have 100 responses, But some have less than 10 and still has not commented on any of the responses. I will usually just skip over them. I go back over all my discussions and look at them first when I login. Now my responses are a different story. I have so many, it is too hard to keep up. Although I do take time to go back to some. If it is something they REALLY want to know they can pm me to ask. I do good to respond to all my friends' discussions as I spend a lot of time reading the replies.

I try to comment back to the responses on my discussions but sometimes there are way too many to do that to every one. I do want the posters to know that I read their responses because I don't want them to think that I didn't care what they had to say. There was one discussion though that I got 95 responses and most of them you could tell they were just responding for the points. I did respond to most of them but not every one because for one thing it was a lot and also they were just answers like "no I don't have any animals." The discussion was "How many animals do you have?" And instead of people who didn't have any animals not responding they responded with "I don't have any." So to those ones I didn't comment to. But I do check my discussions everyday to see if anyone new responded and I comment right away. I get them in my email to let me know I have a response and that way I can do it right away or once i get a chance. I know the rules say not to say thank you so when I comment back I say something back to them that answers their response and then I say "Thanks for responding." That way at least they know they didn't respond for nothing. I also rate every one of them with a positive unless they respond with something really stupid and those ones I don't rate at all. :)

Its b'coz many people mainly join this website for the sake of money and this greediness for acheiving 10$ will rush then to write some waste stuff and wait for response ---thus having less respect to respondends

It simply shows that different people have different thinking. Further, we can say "meanings" are in people. The way they think may not exactly be the same as we think. Rude they may be for us, but in one way or another their responses or issues may be useful to other people.
