haller!!! I have tried using tampons when I feel like to swim but the fact that I am not comfortable putting it inside.. Oh my.. it really hurts and painful. I hate it for all of my life... It really doesnt work and fit for me. It is scary and painful.. Anyone who does not used to it, will feel the same way I do, so dont dare to use it anymore. It might get you traumatize after all.

Oh please! There is no pain involved. How can cotton bring you pain? Really now, stop lying.

If tampons hurt you when you put them in, its probably because you're not doing it right. You're probably inserting them wrong..not far enough inside...or not in the right position. They shouldnt hurt ..or maybe you need a smaller size.

Tampons are much much better than sanitary napkins. You don't feel like you are wearing a diaper and you don't have to worry about odor or leakage. Once you insert them, you don't even know they are there!

Oh really! I haven't tried it because I'm a little scared that it might get stuck inside me. Thanks for sharing!

Well they can't get stuck or lost because there is a string attached to them.

traditional sanitary napkins for me. Tampons in the long run can give you problems. and I know of some women that use them all the time and they always talk about having some kind of infection and I am glad to say that I have never had anything like that so napkins all the way.

I've used tampons for 32 years and have never gotten an infection because of them. So, if someone you know has, maybe they are just prone to that sort of thing.

I use the sanitary napkins also . I have hemmoraged three times so far and have been told it would be very dangerous for me to try the tampons and since I have never used them I don't know what I am missing anyways .

I prefer using sanitary napkins. Tampons for me is just for emergency use when im on the beach and never on anything else. And yes, i agree its riskier. Its more comfortable though to some but im used to napkins alot better.

I use neither. I use a mooncup, which is a re-usable menstrual cup. it's comfier than tampons and very much more comfortable than pads. it's cleaner, more environmentally friendly, cheaper in the long run, better for your health (no risk of TSS), less likely to leak and can reduce painful periods. I love my mooncup

nope, definitely less risky. it's made of medical grade silicone, so doesn't harbour bacteria. it's very clean and safe. I'm also very heavy and have never had a leak with it.

I've never heard of a mooncup. I think I'll stick to tampons because I find them quite comfortable.

In my younger days I always swore that I would never wear a tampon, I feared that it would hurt and didn't understand much back then. Man, am I ever glad that I changed my mind! Tampons are soo much more comfortable and I find that they don't leak as easily. Pads actually felt like diapers and got extremely uncomfortable in the summer time. A period is bad enough without having to feel even more uncomfortable and I find that tampons give me a cleaner feel.

Oh really? So you didn't regret trying it? Does it hurt? I'm not sure if I'll be able to try it. Thanks again!

I use traditional sanitary napkins. Haven't really tried using tampons, and no planning to use it. I think sanitary pads is much cheaper compared to tampons. And the thing is that you only stick it in your undies and not insert it into the deepest caves.. :) so you dont have to worry if you inserted it correctly or not.

I prefer sanitary napkins too. Yeah, tampons are scary and I'm not gonna shove something inside me for a few hours. Wouldn't it be uncomfortable? And I've read that it's not healthy too. Will get some toxic shock disease or something. Anyway, Asians rarely use tampons because they are smaller sized. That's what I think.

Tampons, hands down! I used pads the first time I started and broke out in a rash! I've never used them since and that was over 30 years ago. I find pads disgusting. They smell and I can't stand the idea of something in my underwear. And, I would feel dirty all day and feel like I'd need a shower constantly. Yuck! I've never had trouble with tampons and they are comfortable and I don't have to be concerned about someone smelling it. I'm sorry to be so crude but that's basically how I feel about it. I never understood why a modern day woman would want to wear pads but I know other women who do. I think it's basically a choice but I prefer feeling clean and not have to worry about rashes.

Yeah...I guess it really depends on where are we comfortable right? I grow up using pads and I don't think I can handle switching to tampons. I just felt like it's too risky like what if it got stuck inside me. I don't know that's why I'd rather not take risk anymore. I'm contented in using pads...I'll wear a diaper monthly, lol. I searched for mooncup and that one is scarier than tampons, hehe! Thanks!

I prefer using tampons. There's nothing scary about them, after you've used them the first time. I used to use sanitary napkins till I was about 15 (my period started when I was 10!). However I was on the swim team and various other sports teams, and my coaches would tell me that I couldn't be missing competitions just because I had my period. So one fine day, just before a big dance show I got my period, and I had to rush out and buy some tampons. My best mate described how I should put it on - and I've been using it every since. I find them a lot more comfortable, and I don't have to change them as often as a sanitary pad.

I'm a tampon girl more often than not - you put it in & you don't have to worry :) There's no smell like you get with a pad - you don't have to worry about it moving & there being a leakage problem - you cant feel it's there either! I noticed someone mentioned that they were concerned about a tampon being lost in there - it wont happen since they are made with nice long strings that can put your mind at ease! Everyone is different though, i guess it just depends on what you're most comfortable with!

napkins unless i really have to-like wearing something you can't hide a pad under. i don't fully trust tampons-my mom went into shock from them once and it was scary to see.

I've always used sanitary napkins. I heard tampons are great for swimming but I've never really tried.
