At my granddaughter's birthday party my daughter announced to me that she had her first tattoo. It was a purple butterfly with MOM in the design. It was really beautiful. My youngest daughter said she is having the same tattoo done later this week. It was very beautiful and I was touched by them honoring me with a tattoo.

You must have made a wonderful impact on your children. That is proof that they love and respect you. These are wonderful kids you have there. So you love butterflies? I have never really ask you why you have the user name you do. Can you say or is it personal?

I have always loved butterflies. The name stems from a favorite song....The Elusive Butterfly of Love by Bob Lind.

Butterflies are very beautiful though I never see them around my home or neighborhood. When I am at my parents house, especially in the summer, we see lots of different butterflies flying around and they are gorgeous. I too had wondered about your username but now I know. :-)

I´ve also always wondered what the actual meaning of your username was. Butterfly is clear, I imagined that you love them. Just couldn´t work out the "elusive". Thank you for explaining this.

This is beautiful! It's so nice that they are expressing their love and admiration for you. Maybe this will become a "family tradition" to be passed down to their daughters (when they are old enough to make the decision themselves!). My tattoo is purple butterflies with pastel flowers; I just love it!

I had my first tattoo last year of a butterfly with a part of my star sign included and the toning is pink. It looks so nice and not over the top as I have never in the past been a huge fan of tattoos and why did I have one at my ripe "old age" (mid-life crisis I call it) lol But what a beautiful thought that your daughter has chosen a symbol of you included in her tattoo and now your other one feels the same! You are very lucky and I would say so are they!

I have been thinking about getting one for my 50th birthday. Geez, 50! Oh well. I would like to get a butterfly. I then had a brainstorm that I would like to get little hearts too with each of my kids names in them. But that would be a big owie. Maybe just the butterfly and they can get me a mother's ring.

Well, maybe I should start off with a smaller one and if I can handle that, go on from there. Hubby thinks it is a shame of money. But, hey, you only turn 50 once.

That is very touching! I think I would freak out if my daughter got a tattoo - no matter what it was though. I'm not a fan of them. Anyways - it's is very cool that your daughters have thought of you and wanted to do something special for you.

Well I am not a fan of tattoo's at all. I think the generation of young people will regret this fad soon in their young lives. However... the fact that they are expressing their emotions and thoughts through them says something for the fact that they give it some thought at all. I am sure your daughter loves you alot to take the time and pain to reflect it in a tattoo. COngrats,!

I a more against the piercings that the kids tend to overdo. The ones where they put huge objects in their earlobes or lips are crazy.

What a testimony to your parenting! Those girls love you deeply and wanted to honor you! I was pleased to read a few posts back about the meaning of the 'elusive' part of your user name. I have learned so much here tonight!

That is pretty neat, Butter...your daughters really love you and I'm glad it made you happy. I think butterflies are my favorite of God's creations; we have so many of them in the spring, here, and they're all multicolored; our favorite is the veregated blue one's we have... I tell CJ that they are the babies from last year and that they just got bigger. He loves them as well and chases after them; they even chase after him...lol So, I guess you could say we have a family of butterflies that love to come back home..!

Oh that sounds really pretty and the idea behind it is so touching . I have one that is a heart with wings and a banner going through it with mom in the middle of it . The mom for my stands the fact that I am a mom and nothing makes me more proud then this as my children mean the world to me . I would feel honoured though if my children this this for me also .

I remember when I came home on leave from the Army in '88. Ihad just gotten my 1st of 2 tats. It was summer and I came back from the beach with some friends. I had my swimsuit on and my mom saw my 1st tatoo of a unicorn on my shoulder. She totally freaked out and was upset w/ me for almost a week. My dad on the other hand thought it was no big deal. I didn't do it to upset anyone, I just did it because it was smething I wanted that was a little symbolic for me. I don' think it would bother me in the least to have my daughter come home w/ a tasetful tatoo and it's nice to hear that someone lse feels the same.

That is a really sweet thing for your daughters to do. Usually you hear about guys getting tatoos with mom on them, this is the first I have ever heard about a daughter doing it. You must be doing something right.
