Boredom? Are We Becoming Jaded?

Boredom - Jaded?

I dont know how you feel but I get so tired of seeing the same discussion topics over and over again. I remember how exciting everything felt when I was a newbie and there were so many interesting and "tongue in cheek" discussions. I must be getting jaded as boredom seems to be setting in! Any ideas how we can spice things up? Photo: Boredom

I think mylot should readjust their thinking. Once you've responded to a topic you don't get any further credit for posting on that thread again. In fact, the guidelines specifically tell you if you start a post, don't respond to every reply. To me this discourages intelligent, back and forth discusssions. I think many members start a thread and never go back to it because they've earned all the points (money) they will for it. It forces one to choose between keeping a discussion alive or going for the money. And of course, there is my number one gripe. Newbies come on and post the same five posts -- What does that star mean? How much money am I making? How can I make more? How many friends should I have? and -- ta da -- What do you like on your pizza? I wish myLot would make them read the guidelines and pass a quiz before they are allowed to post. Or at the very least, make them read and respond to x number of posts (say 50 or a 100) before they can start a new discussion. By the time I got to 100 posts, I had made all the rookie mistakes listed above and boy was I embarrassed. And maybe myLot, or maybe we could do it ourselves, could give some kind of prize or acknowledgement for the best topic each week, month, day, whatever. You're right, this site is becoming boring. I often spend hours at night and never find a really good discussion. One of my referrals has already left and the other it threatening to. Hope someone out there has some good ideas.

Ha ha that is funny because I noticed the same topics and you are right about some of the people here are only interested in making the money and once they get their one point they dont go back to the discussion

I totally agree, it does seem like it's lost it's fun appeal. I have to go looking for things to respond to. I don't know what we could do to liven it up, but I hope someone thinks of something soon..lol Well it's about that time of the month when all the new members will want to know what happened to my points, my money..same old, same old. That ought ot be real exciting, NOT. I'll keep my fingers crossed that someone has an idea..lol

Yeah, I've started navigating by people I know will post good discussions. There are still a few, and I try to make my own discussions at least interesting to someone. I still routinely check out new discussions, but if bored I go straight to either my friends or in some cases their friends. Saves time.

Hi there, i can't blame you. seeing the same topics evryday since you joined mylot. hmnn,, how to spice things up? well maybe let's just make friends from here. i mean since we are not into similar countries, lets broaden our mind into checking cultures of each other. :) hehe i dont know if i make sense, but since i can feel that still i am a newbie here, so far i still enjoyed the discussions.

I think right now I am green; because I am so jaded, lol. I am appalled at the way myLot is letting spam over run the boards, and plagerism rule. I just want to reply to some discussions that have intelligence and meaning, yet, I can't seem to locate any. I know there are alot of newbies on board, but still, even when you try to help them, they break the rules. How can we spice it up? How about the Stones playing, "Satisfaction", lol. Seriously, I have been racking my brain all day trying to figure that one out.

Well I really don't know, I search till I find and I guess that is why I am not to bored, but I have to admit there is times when I get fed up with it. I love the Site though I just wish that all the good Friends would come back that seem to disappear.

I understand where you are coming from. I am trying to get a little more original, and for me that seems to be looking at what I like, or am experiencing offline, then sharing it here with my online friends. Sometimes it is thinking outside of the box, like a friend of mine who had some unresponded discussions. I had to think in a different way to make a response. Let's stretch our brains. I have seen a few good humored discussions today.

I think a lot of myLot members have become inactive. When I first joined, I couldn't keep up with the amount of topics posted by my friends. Now I sometimes have to look through the new discussions looking for some to respond to. I suppose the well is running dry and we are running out of topics to post.

ITA with you White....I honestly believe that if it weren't for my friends and their new discussions every day, popping into my email,I'd probably never even bother visiting mylot as much as I do.....we really need to get something else going here

Yes, i agree...sometimes there are the same questions over and over...i sometimes am probably guilty of that, but i have only been a member for a month and these questions are ones that i have thought of or something in someone elses post has sparked a question or thot...

If you are jaded, so am I. When I first started, I was hunting down those discussions without responses to reply to. Nowadays, I still try a bit but most of the questions are simply... "unanswerable" for a multitude of reasons. Many topics have been repeated too and for every unique answer I make, I have almost type the same to another similar question elsewhere, many times. So I try to start discussions that I have not seen. If I repeat something that has been asked, why, it just means I have not come across it knowingly myself. If I see a question asked already, I won't be repeating it personally. :P

Some of these discussions ARE really boring. Have you gone to "discussions with no responses?" It's a boring feast in their. The discussions are so stupid and pointless. If you have been ofended I really don't care. Don't write boring discussions and I won't target you.

I find it hard to think of interesting topics at the best of times. Of more concern to me are superficial topics. I started a disccussion about one week ago, on shark attacks, and did receive one response. Either it was boring to people or repetitive!
