For myself I usually go for the storyline. Now and then I might be drawn to a movie due to who is playing in it but if the storyline doesn't look good I don't care who is in the movie because I won't watch it. I've seen many good movies who didn't have well known stars in them, or at least well known at the time, and I've loved them. I've seen some with big name stars that I like and the movie isn't that great. So for the most part I pick by storyline but if I'm debating on it the star can shift the balance.

I go by the storyline. Actors sometimes star in turkeys, so do you want to watch a turkey because Brad Pitt is starring in it?

I go for the story first, then the actors that will portray in the story. Movies like documentary films are some of the movies that I prefer to watch, especially if the story is about is about awareness. For commercial movies, the very first thing that I look at is also the story, of what's it all about. The actor's credentials come next through right through it, better to be more familiar at their filmographies..

I go by the story line and at times by the director who has given good films in past.Sometimes just for my favorite star no matter how crap the movie is(which i always regret to having gone to seen that)...

It can be both or either of the two depending on the movie itself. Sometimes, the lead actors and actresses are great factors why I tend to watch the movie even if it's not really a good one. There are also times when I would read the synopsis of the story before I'm gonna go and watch the film. I'm more into the storyline and the story itself. :)

99% the story. Most of my favourite movies, I don't even remember who was in them, because I don't care. The only time it influences my decision is when an actor is typecast. e.g. If I see a trailer for a comedy, and Will Ferrell is in it, I assume it will be funnier than average, but still, it's not because of Will Ferrell, I'm just more certain of the story. I usually don't pay attention to quality of acting or who it is. Spending those big bucks on big name actors doesn't add any extra revenue from my wallet.

I actually prefer to look at both. I would prefer to have a story and would like to see some established performer in the movie. Having said this if I like the story and director, then I can go and watch the movie solely for that irrespective of the performers. Cheers! Ram

I do a little of both. I will read the description of the movie and if I'm still not too sure, I see who is starring in the movie. Sometimes actors & actresses can pull a so so movie into something a lot better.

It just depends on what kind of a movie it is but most of the time I go by the cast.

I do a bit of both, but I also read reviews a lot. I have a few favorite critics, Roger Ebert being one of them. His website is http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/

I usually pick my movies by who is in them. It is getting harder these days as there are so many new actors. I really like the old stars, such as Clint Eastwood. He can park his boots under my bed any time!!! I remember him from his Rawhide days. If I don't recognize any of the actors, then the movie would have to have a great storyline.

I prefer both to be present. I do think i most often go by the actors when deciding what film to see. Or I go with a Norwegian movie, regardless of the actor or storyline. My partner has decided he just loves norwegian movies of any kind.

It depends.. when I was younger, when I used to have crushes on Hollywood actors, I'd go watch their movies even if the ratings or reviews about the movie were not that good. Although, in general, what attracts me to a movie is its storyline..
