I had a box where I keep my letters even when they are a long time ago. It brings back memories of old.

Like you, I also have a box where I keep all my letters and cards from my friends and families and everone in between. I still have the letters of my elementary classmates. Sometimes I do read some of them just to reminisce the memories. Right now there are few letters that people are giving me since there are emails and text messages.

I had a Japanese penpal in my high school years. I receive letters from a nun - Directress of vocation - guiding me in my desire to enter the religious life. I have letters from my youngest sister - she also love to write long letters.

I used to keep everything, but I had a purging session a few years ago where I thought it might be therapeutic and symbolic to letting go of the past, and burned most of them. I ended up keeping the letters from my first love though. Now we're back together and I have more to add to the collection. :)

I actually have a box (a large box) full of letters, pictures and drawings that my (now ex) other lover had sent me over the yrs while he was in prison etc....I've no intention of ever getting rid of them either considering they are such a huge part of my past ya know....I also have letters my husband had written to me and a couple from my kids too (those are just little notes etc)....

I kept a lot of old letters, but when I got married my wife threw them out. When she remarried, her new husband made her throw out all her pictures of me. Now she's alone with no one; but me, well I've got lots of new photos of my wife of the past ten years, my kids, and grandkids.

I never used to keep all my letters until a few years ago when I realized how scarce they were becoming. With email available pretty much everywhere and long distance phone rates so reasonable people are no longer writing letters. I love to get a real letter in the mail - something that I can reread without witting at a computer. THough I don't have a box for them, there is a special file in my cabinet that holds a lot of written memories.

Yeah, some people may think that its weird, but I have every single letter I have ever received from a person. Sometimes, I like to read through them again or see what they said. Even if I have lost touch with the person I still hang on to th letters. I have about 2 or 3 boxes of letters now from all the writing I have done.
