we all know the internet has opened the doors wide open to the world of dating but there are down sides too...have you or your partner been invovled in an online affair that seemed to consume your life???? how did it work out? Cheryl

Well, I suppose... in a manner of speaking. Four of the last five people I have dated/had a relationship with were people I "met" online, first. For me, it has mostly worked out pretty well. I'm an introvert, and I prefer to get to know people "from the inside out." On occasion, the long distance has been an issue-- makes it challenging to take something from "virtual" to "real" space. On the whole, I'd say the encounters I have had that were "all consuming" were more like quick infatuations, while the ones that "became something" were more like friendships that slowly built.

My husband and I met online. We started out just friends, and in fact very rarely talked for about a year. We were both dating someone else. We went out on our first date 10 months after we first met in real life. We went out on three dates that week and he went to North Dakota, where he is stationed in the AF. Four months later he came home and we got engaged. Five more months went by and we were married. I guess in some ways our relationship was all consuming. But it worked out fine. We've been married almost two years now, and have a beautiful baby boy.

well, i've never been on any online relationships, but i have friends who have, and there have always been mixed reactions. some relationships could end in marriage, but many internet relationships are practically just 'virtual', so they usually just end up in heartbreaks.
