I just found this interesting site that gives gift ideas for each anniversary, such as, the traditional 1st anniversary gift is paper and the modern is a clock, the 2nd is cotton or straw for traditional, and China as the modern. My husband and I will celebrate 10 years in November, according to the list I saw, the traditional gift is diamond jewelry. I guess I should starts dropping hints now, so my husband can start saving! The site I found is www.anniversaryideas.co.uk check it out and plan for your next gift. Which wedding anniversary will you be celebrating next?

My husband and I will be celebrating our 3rd year anniversary this coming December 2007.. and I'm not sure what gift represents year 3.. Last December, during our 2nd year anniversary, he gave me a box of pizza from Pizza Hut as a gift.. He did so because he heard me craving for one a few days before our anniversary.. I was 4 months pregnant that time..

No problem, I really thought it was sweet that your husband got you a pizza. It's those small thoughtful gifts which actually mean the most. God Bless you and your family too.

Yeah.. He really is the sweetest thing.. Just this evening after work, he brought me home some sushi which I really really like.. And I asked why he bought me some when I didnt really ask for it this morning.. He just said that because it's Friday and I know you like it.. (n_n)

Well we just got married so this will be our first anniversary even though its not until next January. I have no clue what to get him though cause he isn't gonna want paper or stuff like that. He'll want like Steeler tickets!

Congratulations! Diamonds are always good...hehe. We'll be celebrating our first anniversary, but we've just been married for about two and a half months, so we've got quite a ways to go. lol

Our sixth anniversary is in a couple of weeks - that's iron and sugar, or wood for the contemporary gift. And hey, I just got a brand new dining room table and chairs (that he'll likely call my "anniversary gift") so I guess that's fitting. Hmm, I'm sure something iron would fit into our decor too...and maybe I can talk him into an ice cream run that evening to top the whole thing off!

That's too cute. I'm glad that you found that site useful (I'm assuming that you saw it, since you know what the suggested gifts are). Happy anniversary, and congratulations on 6 years and many more.

#7 is happening in a couple of days. We have not followed the gift lists at all. In fact this year I think we are just having some friends watch the kids and going to dinner.

I've never followed those lists either, I just thought I'd share it because some of them seem funny. I mean just the list showing aluminum, tin, iron, sugar, straw, it just sounds funny.

We will be celebrating our 27th anniversary in July. Through all those years I don't think we ever followed the list on giving gifts. We just bought what the other one wanted. I guess we always thought it would be more appreciated. I'm sure your thinking that diamond jewelry would be apprectiated. Good Luck.

Not really, we have never exchanged gifts, we usually go to a movie (he only goes to the movies one time a year, on our anniversary). We think it's more important just to be together, and it's exciting that we've been together this long. I just thought that with diamond jewelry being what's suggested, I'd suggest it, even though I wouldn't expect it or appreciate it more than anything else (nor could we afford it). I think those lists are fun to look at, who actually follows them anyway?

i will be celebrating my 2nd year anniversary but still quite a few months away... it is at the end of the year... we never exchange gifts as we already have everything that we need and we think that it is just a waste of money... so, we just go out for dinner and enjoy our time together...

We are coming up to our 2nd anniversary, so I found your discussion interesting. I think I would prefer china to straw or cotton. I could think of a number of gifts my husband could give me in China. But a China gift for him.... Hmmm.... I would have to give rthat some thought.

Hubby & I have now been together for 20 years. This May we will have our 19th anniversary. Wow! How'd that happen? That is a long time. [I mean that in a good way] It's hard to believe we've been together that long. I can clearly recall the first time I saw him. It sure doesn't seem like it has been that long ago.

It will be our 9th anniversary in October, don't usually give gifts but have a special dinner instead. Although for our 5th anniversary, my husband booked a surprise trip to where we got married for a holiday, it was just as romantic as the first time!! perhaps I can convince him to go again for our 10th.!

Our 5th is this August. We thought about doing the traditional gifts, but they really don't fit us as a couple so we decided not to. A couple who are friends of ours decided instead to use the periodic table of elements for their wedding anniversaries. I love hearing the creative things they come up with! "Helium" is a hot-air balloon ride, etc.

This year will be #8 for us. The most special of the years we have had so far, was #6--I had my ultrasound of our youngest child that day and we found out we were having a girl. Before the ultrasound, we lunch at a Chinese resteraunt (one of my fave foods)

Me and hubby will be celebrating our 10th as well, in May. We've never followed any type of tradition when it comes to our anniversary. We either have a quiet dinner at home or we go out to dinner, minus the kids.

I always dreaming have a big concert for my wedding anniversary. I like reggae so much. So, I'll invite many reggae bands and of course my friends with the dreadlock hair to join and happy together. I hope I'll have a rich and friendly husband....
