He's a wonderful actor. One of the best out there, I'd say. Up there with Hoffman. That notwithstanding, have any of Dicaprio's characters lived to see the end of a movie? *spoilers, i reckon* He dies in Blood Diamond, he dies in Titanic, he dies in The Departed... *spoilers end* Are there movies where he lives?

I find he is ok in Titanic. I also caught him in "The Beach"... still alright there. But what I don't understand is why he wants to grow up. No seriously. Initially when he first came into the movie scene, he still has that boyish charm. Now he wants to grow up and mature. He isn't even good looking now and I am not impressed by his acting skills despite rave reviews from the critics. I like him in neither blood diamond nor departed. Maybe it's just not my genre. :P You can see the movies he acted in here - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000138 .

what are you talking about? I like him now that he's acting grown up and coming out with great performances, actually i didn't like him much in titanic or romeo and juliet, and i think he does his best work when he stays away from romantics like that, he's extremely talented.

I agree with vega. Titanic and Romeo + Juliet were good, but his newer stuff is better.

I happen to love him as an actor. I remember when he was first starting out years ago on Family Ties.

"What's Eating Gilbert Grape", I think he lives in "The Aviator", "Catch me if You Can", I believe he lives in "The Beach" (although, he does get a bit crazy, lol). As far as I can remember, there are actually quite a few out there. He's chosen characters that are more short-lived more recently. Maybe he just enjoys portraying those characters more?
