How will you read Deathly Hallows?

Will you be getting book 7 right at midnight, and then stay up all night reading it? Or will you get it at midnight, read a couple of chapters, and then go to bed? Or will you be getting it later that day? Are you going to read it quickly, wanting to know what happens next right away? Or savor it for as long as you can, drawing it out for as long as possible?I'm getting the book at midnight, and if the last two books are any indication, I will be up all night reading the books. I've been thinking about reading this one slowly, drawing it out, since it's the last book, and I won't ever be able to do this again, but I know I won't be able to resist.

Like every year, I'll get it at midnight and read it until I'm done. I'm dreading it, though. I literally don't know what I'll do with myself when I have no more Harry Potter books to look forward to. It's been such a constant part of my life for such a long time, that it will be just plain weird to not have anymore new books. I know I should be, but I'm really not looking forward to the release. :(

I know exactly how you feel! While I'm excited that a new Harry Potter book is coming out, I don't want July 21 to come, because then it means it's over, and there's nothing more to look forward to. I've been reading these books for seven, and in one night it's going to be all over? So sad.

Although I am a big fan of HP and am awaiting it eagerly, I am not mad enough to join the pre-order circus. I will wait for the books to hit the store, then I would wait for my store to drop a 10-20% discount, which he does after around 1 month and then pick the book up. The book is priced very steeply here in India at just under a Rs. 1000 which works out to nearly $25, whereas most other books in India cost max upto Rs. 500. Cheers! Ram

yeah, the retail price here is $35, but Amazon.com has it for $19. And I'm sure Barnes and Noble has it at reduced price, too. The Deluxe edition is $65, but is reduced a lot, also. I don't think I'd be able to wait a month to read it though! You have guts! :)

I actually am quite good at being patient. The only problem comes from some of my close friends who derive perverse pleasure in telling me the suspense before I read the novel or watch a movie. I just make sure to ignore them during my wait period :) Cheers! Ram

We go to local bookstores as opposed to the huge chains. They always have the book in on the day it comes out, and usually there's a little bit off the price too which is pretty good. My partner found the last one on sale in a local bookstore. he has a loyalty card for that place and so he ended up getting the book for a couple of dollars cheaper than he would had he gone to Chapters and bought it there. I usually read the book the day I get it, and like you, I can't put them down. I read a lot when I go to bed because it takes a while for me to drop to sleep and so I have a feeling I'll be sat up most of the night if not all night reading lol. I'm actually quite intrigued because there are rumors going around now that Harry isn't going to die after all, and so I'm eager to see what happens. I know J.K Rowling has written 2 different endings which is unusual in itself, but I can't wait to see which one she used.

I did that for Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire. I started reading them, and ended up staying up until I finished them. While I was reading Prisoner of Azkaban, I actually almost missed my favorite band on Jay Leno, and while I was reading Goblet of Fire, my brother actually came into my room to tell me to turn off my light. lol. I haven't heard that she wrote 2 different endings. Where did you hear that? And there have been rumors about Harry dying and not dying since book 6 came out. I'm just going to wait until I read the book before I believe any of them.

Yup! I will probably read it with in 5 hours of getting my greedy little paws on it then cry for 6 hours that my favorite book series has come to an end. I love the imagination that goes into the books. I love the fan fiction, I love Harry Potter movies. I'm obsessed I'll admit it.

haha, I'm the same way. Definitely obsessed, and I know that as soon as I finish I'll cry for a couple of hours, sleep, and then start reading again, refusing to acknowledge that it's the end.

Well I have not orderd that book yet! I will be buying it few weeks later but till then I will not come any where on internet where it might disclose the secrets. So far I have read all the HP books in ebook format because I really cant purchase. But the final book I will surely purchase and then I will slowly reas it and enjoy it throughly!

Yeah, I would like to slow it down, too... The problem is, when I get a Harry Potter book, I can't put it down until I am finished. The last one, Half-Blood Prince, I received it on the day it arrived and I finished it a day and a half later, only stopping my reading cause of school and work. I want to draw it out since it's going to be the last one, but it all depends, you know. If I get started and I cannot stop, then it's all over in a day. But then again, I'll probably read it twice like I usually do, and then read it again before the movie comes out.

Yeah, I just can't put it down once I've started reading it. And I know that as soon as I finish, I'll turn right back to page one. Unless I hate it. But the chances of that are about nil. lol.

I've got mine on reserve at Borders, so I'll probably get it the day after it comes out. No fighting the crowds for me. As for drawing it out as long as possible, I would love to, but I'm just not capable when it comes to these books. I always find myself saying "Just one more chapter..." and then reading 12 more. Besides, I hate it when other people spoil the ending for me, as someone inevitably will if I try to draw it out. So I plan to finish it within a day or two. It'll be so sad, though! I haven't looked forward to a series of books this way in years.

I just don't think I'd be able to wait to get it! Half the reason why I go at midnight is the crowds! It just adds to the excitement for me! :)

I've let my sister who lives in London reserve it for me. The ones shipped here in the Philippines is the American Edition and I like the English Edition more so I'd probably have to wait another week for me to read it but last time, I was able to download an ebook of book 6 and was able to read it one the first week. I DID not put my pda down, I was able to read it for two days coz I have work in between. :)

I wish I could get the English versions, just to have them, and see what the difference is. I'm sure it must make a big difference, just in the words that are used.

Im not sure when i will get the book, but it should be within 1 day max of the release. I'll start reading in peace. When i started reading the Half-blood prince, i read everything slowly. I mean i didnt take breaks, but i didnt read it the way i read other books, for every line that had references to the past books, i sat n remembered that. Even re-reading some paragraphs to make sure. Its going to be the last and thats whats going to make it special. Its going to be Potter .. Hogwarts.. Voldemort.. Godrics Hollow .. etc till the last page.. The real world will cease to exist for me till i finish the book (and for some time even after that )

i will probably get it a few days after it comes out, read it on the way home from the store, and not do anything [eat, sleep, anything] until i'm done. just judging from past experience. =]

for a harry potter book like this.. i would slow it down too... depending on the pace of the story... for the past HP books have been reading it again and again and the excitement is still there.. so i'll slow it down a bit for this... :)

Well first of all I plan to order it through Amazon since it's going to be about half price there, and believe it or not you can pre-order for it now! Like you though, once i get my hands on the book, I might drag things out a bit and read slowly, since as you said, it's the vey last book in the series
