Please, oh please, make it stop

I'm not one to trash other members here at mylot so excuse me for this but has anyone else noticed, in the last half hour or so, the number of one line posts from the same member with oxymoron type questions "why is a tv called a set when there's only 1?"...that type of thing? I saw the first couple and thought they were pretty cute (a couple of them I hadn't even heard before), but then there were a couple more and at one point the entire new discussions page had about 8 of them on there. I am very close to jamming a pencil into my own neck....please talk me off the ledge and tell me how we are even supposed to respond to them.

Well pretty easy if they bothering you just dont answer them and eventually hopefully they will be pushed down the lines of old discussions. I know what you mean though I have seen the same ones and its alittle out of control.

Yes, it drives me insane. It only seems to be the newbies to this site. Maybe we should put a band on these sorts of idiotic questions and not answer them at all. Maybe they might get the idea. I'll get you started ........." PROTEST ON ONE LINERS"..."DON'T ANSWER THESE "...LOL.

Yeah it's irritating, the irony is that they make their posts in such a way that nobody can reply to them and they are making no money for their efforts - just wasting their time.

i think i know who you mean-it's been going on all week.i would say just report it. would be easier just to make one discussion of oxymorons instead of 8.

The moderator of this site should do something to this sorts of people. I suppose giving them warning, if the post still persist, banning them would be a good idea. Just my view sih.

Jacosen, welcome to myLot. Jacosen, did you realise that YOU are a moderator? You and every member of myLot are moderators. It is our responsibility to rate discussions and responses and to report any breaking of rules to myLot. Every discussion you read, you should rate a "+" if you think it is good quality. Every response you read you should rate a "+" if you think it is good quality, answers or refers to the discussion and is polite - even if you do not agree with it. You should report "!" anything you think contravenes the myLot guidelines, such as swearing, personal abuse or name calling, copy and paste violations or spam. When we all do our part, myLot will continue to be a happy place to discuss topics with friends.

It seems that my comment on this post has raised a lot of anger. I'm sorry about that, it wasn't intentional that I kick up so much fuss. If you check my profile, you'll realize that I dun go about throwing one lines in someone else's post to earn a cent. I'm a newbie in myLot, and thought that it works like a forum. I'm sorry...

I hear you about wanting to get on the ledge over it. Every once in a while I see a oneliner, that I have to respond to for what ever reason, but most of the time I don't even respond. I just rate it with an - and move on. We are not suppose to post oneliners here, and unless they are new, they should know better. Get yourself off the ledge and start giving those type of people a - rating. They will do one of two things. The first, is they will start writing better quality post, or they will get tired of their post being removed and leave mylot for good.

the only thing we can do is the usual, just ignore them. Eventually, with no responses, they do give up. The difficulty, of course is they seem to get a healthy number of responses, so they only way we can get rid of em is not to respond at all blessed be

Inked please dont jam your pencil into your neck....you could get lead poisoning and that would suck (nevermind the fact that if you hit your juggler you'd probably bleed out before the lead even has a chance or anything LOL) ;-) Ok seriously now.....Yea there have been a few times lately that there's been an entire page with JUST one liner questions that are really dumb and/or threads like what you mentioned (and usually its one poster)and I have to say its beyond annoying at times....I dont even bother with threads like that because #1 they're dumb and #2 I believe they are against the rules (not positive on that one though) I wish it would stop too....its also a reason I think that having a blocking feature for the members woudl be a great idea...

Hello inked4life.... The only way to stop them is to stop them, or at least their crap postings, is to report them. As long as they are left to post that crap they earn the same as people who post quality material.....I personally don't think that is fair. Why should crap earn the same as quality ???????? Tom

LOL I saw those posts, too. I am like you...the first couple make me smile, but then I got sick of them! Not sure how to respond...I just really ignored them and continued on. I don't understand people like that. Welll, I guess I do understand them...they are just trying to make money and get responses...but what they don't realize is that they really turn a lot of people off their discussions by doing this. If this person invited me as a friend, I would deny them based on their past discussions.

LOL! Step away from the ledge. Like other posters who do that will eventually go away. Think happy thoughts. Think of all the lead poisoning you can get from that pencil. It's not worth it. Rise above my friend. :)

either ignore their posts and don't waste time opening them or keep either reporting them or giving them minus ratings, they'll soon either stop or be banned.

Can't blame you for jamming a pencil into your head. I just stapled my eyelids shut. These are the kind of discussions that get rave reviews. While more serious talks get trashed and thrown off the site. How do you respond? With a big DAH, I guess. Unless you can cut your IQ level by 2/3 and get down to their level.

lol.there are so many of these discussions out there and if you were to poke a pencil into your neck for each one of them then you ll need to get a lot of pencils and have a really long neck.lol.just ignore them buddy.go through nice long discussions which will take your mind away from them.some discussions can really drive you crazy.maybe they are too complicated for our simple minds.

I don't know if I am thinking of the person you are thinking of, and I won't mention the name, but I have had a thought that there is one person who I would like to tip out of her little whicker chair if I see one more post. But they just keep a comin'. I assume, especially since they are just a word or two, that they will be deleted. I am always shocked how many responses they get!

thats what is most annoying to me is the number of responses. I try to come up with intelligent disussions to post and they get very few responses and the one liners get them all
