Do you stare at clouds?  email this discussion to a friend?

I was walking home this evening when the sky suddenly moved. Well, not "move" as in the sky roof came falling down, but "move" as in the clouds shifted to form a new fabric of fluff. It was beautiful. For a few moments, I was caught off-guarded and I literally stared. I looked at the clouds and tried to perceive pictures in them.

My imagination was given free rein, and I saw castles and palaces where immortals perhaps dwell. I saw heroes of mythical proportions frolicking like children. I saw a painting of abstract art that cannot be distilled into mere words. I got quite carried away and wished that I could just go on watching the clouds forever.

If I had to choose a moment for time to stop, I would probably choose that moment. Can you imagine that scene? When you look at something of such ethereal beauty that you need to consciously remember to breathe. In, out. In, out.

Has this happened to you before? Have you observed such beauty that you simply wished to soak in that moment forever and ever? It may not be clouds; it may be an object, an occasion, a thought, anything! Birth of a child? Bloom of a flower? Vision of utopia? Whatever!

Do share your thoughts. ;-)

If you ever go to the beach or anywhere that you can do what you want, take a moment to look at the clouds. It is very relaxing because of the shapes and our imagination. I have seen trees and flowers in the clouds. It is very relaxing to just look at the sky with a friend. And you are right, sometimes if you look up at the sky on a busy day it can be very relaxing and calming.

I love looking at clouds and analyzing them. Just one of God's gifts to us, and to help our imagination grow. I have seen everything pretty much when looking at the clouds. I have seen all sorts of objects, faces, animals, scenes, and sites that can't even be explained, but mean something to me indvidually. I especially love doing it with someone and pointing out what you see and what they see. I am a day dreamer, and looking at clouds takes me places within my own person heart and soul. It is almost like a personal relationship. I believe that we all need to do it, as it develops creativity and helps bring out the best in ones mind. So take time and enjoy the clouds.

Nice idea. Looking at clouds and analyzing them can actually help us be more imaginative! ^^

I have always loved that! I love looking up into the clouds and imagining the shapes. It is fun to be with someone while lying on the ground or sitting in a chair looking up. It is best while lying flat on the ground looking up for me. I saw one the other day that looked like a French Poodle! I've seen angels and other things in the sky. I love watching the change as the current of air blows them around. Good thread...lordwarwizard.

You sound to be a Pretty artistic mind ehh? I do watch the clouds to see how they are moving and some times i figure out some interesting shapes in the clouds. Some times i just forget where i am and stare at the moving clouds.

One more thing i stare at is in autumn season flowers falling from the tree. Thats really such a nice scenic experience which i wont miss.

I am going to end up walking into a tree someday as I stare up into the sky and marvel at the beauty above us...I have since childhood been fascinated by the clouds, sun, moon and the beautiful creations floating above me...I used to lay in my parent's backyard and watch for hours when I was very young..identifying shapes, playing our scenarios...it is moving art as I see it...One of my favorite things to do at the beach is to sit in the dunes and watch the clouds over the ocean...and the sunsets are awesome to behold..I have had those moments you speak of..the ones that you really want time to stop and record for you...One of the most moving ones happened in Alaska last year...my husband's brother passed away unexpectedly 10 days after his wife did...they were both under 50 years old..it was tragic...we went to Alaska to take care of his things. We followed his wishes and he was cremated. His fishing buddies took us out on a huge commercial fishing boat that he had worked on for years and we dumped his ashes at sea...they estimated the tides and told us that "he" would arrive back in the fishing village at about sunset...after all the ceremonial things were done my husband and I returned to his house and began again our task. Just before sunset we hopped in the car and drove to the beach that was his brother's favorite evening spot..we walked among the huge rocks and sat down to watch what was appearing to be a beautiful sunset...and we were not disappointed..the sky turned bright pink and gold and eventually a deep red...and in the middle of it all...as we sat and pondered his life we looked up to see the clouds in a perfect formation of 3 letters...they were his initials..and glowing brightly in the sky..we quickly took a picture..but it had faded a bit...we had both noticed it at the same time..it was an awesome moment...and we had captured it to a degree on film...we lingered for awhile and when darkness fell we returned to his house..the phone was ringing off the hook...friends of his had seen the same thing...they too had tried to photograph it...we were in awe that evening..and wanted time to truly stand still so we could not only drink in the beauty of the glorious sunset..but the moment of respect and acknowledgement that the brother was home again..it was sunset and the tides had returned him to his favorite beach...it is forever implanted in my memory and I wish it could have lasted for hours...Thanks for asking..and letting me share...:)

You are not supposed to walk and look at the clouds at the same time. Rather, *pause* and look. :P

And wow, your brother-in-law must have been a really great man.

I look at the clouds and stare at them all of the time in the summer. We like to go swimming in our swimming pool in the summer time and we will stand around the sides of the pool sometimes and try and guess what each cloud looks like. Some of them look like many different shapes. some look like shapes of animals or just the head of one. It is often quite amazing the shapes that the clouds take. Alot of them are very beautiful to look at and when one meets another one, a whole new shpe is formed. I get lost in amazement also when I look at the clouds. I love looking at the solar system also because of its bright beauty and it truly does amaze me.

Well truthfully no but I use to when I was a roofer. When the boss left me alone on the roof and I finished everything he wanted I would grab a seat and just sit in the sun staring at the sky and the clouds. It use to be so relaxing.

I think staring at the clouds is cool, when you are really chilling out and taking things easy. It's amazing to watch them as they morph and change shape, I also think it's quite creative to be able to make things out of the cloud formations, shapes, faces and things like that. Of course, living in the UK we have too much cloud, too much of the grey overcast days, best ones are the fluffy clouds in a blue sky

myLot reputation of 96/100. lordwarwizard (10625)   ranked 372 out of 32,962 in life  5 years ago

Yea. I love them especially when there is wind and they move... and slowly morph.

I star at clouds sometimes. You'll be amaze at the things that you see in the sky. When I was younger, i remember I saw a dragon in the cloud. I still remember it to this day, it was the strangest thing that I've seen. It looked so real, and it moved faster then the other clouds in the sky. I was so mesmerized by it, and I still wonder to myself what the heck it was that I say that day, because there was a ball of light that this dragon shaped cloud was following. This was during the day time, so when I saw it, I thought there was two suns in the sky. I think I saw a UFO that day....
