I just went out and bought my third bottle of Tea Tree oil. I find it indespensible to have around the house. I find it very effective for heat rash as well as bug bite and scrapes and abrasions. are there any other uses that might be new to me . I would appreciate hearing about it.
I copied this and will paste the following information for those who do not know about this marvelous product.
tree oil has been recognized as a potent antiseptic in Australia anecdotally for much longer than there has been scientific evidence. However, recent studies support a role for tea tree oil in skin care and treatment of various ailments.
Tea tree oil is a known antifungal agent, effective in vitro against multiple dermatophytes found on the skin.[1] In vivo, shampoo with 5% tea tree oil has been shown to be an effective treatment for dandruff due to Malassezia furfur, the most common cause of the condition.[2]
Effectiveness of topical tea tree oil preparations for Candidiasis is supported by their ability to kill Candida in vitro.[3]
In the treatment of moderate acne, topical application of 5% tea tree oil has shown an effect comparable to 5% benzoyl peroxide, albeit with slower onset of action.[4]
Tea tree oil is also effective for treating bug bites, boils and minor wounds. [5] It has also been known to help sooth sunburns, poison ivy, ear infections, and bee stings. [6]

Tea Tree Oil is a wonderful product and everybody should have a bottle in their medicine cabinet because it can be used for so many things. You have covered them very thoroughly Robin, and I cannot think of any more uses. It's just an all-round general antiseptic and worth it's weight in gold. And of course, it comes from my part of the world!

I love using tea tree oil. It's so effective for so many things, and it's non toxic to boot. I even use it to kill the ear mites that get into my cat's ears. They aren't too fond of the odor, and I have to fight a couple of them to finish the job, but they feel so much better later on.

Thank you for the information. I've heard about tea tree oil before but I've never gotten any. I've even heard that it's better than prescription anti fungal's for toe nails. With Summer coming, I need to get out and get a few bottles. The mosquito's here just love me, they come looking for me, so I need to try it. I'm sure my children will have a need for some too. Thanks again for sharing.
