With so many people developing their writing skills and wanting to become published authors, it's very hard to break into the market. You have to get your stuff out there.
The best way to do that is put your stuff where it can be seen and read.
You should have your own website. Whether it's a free site or a a site that you have to pay little for to display your work.
Associated Content is a good place to start too.
You can get your stuff read and get paid for doing it.
If you would like to join Associated content go here
http://www.associatedcontent.com/join.html?refer=15507
You can also check out my profile and visit my website. There's no obligation.
I make money on AC and I sell my books and other articles from my website.
Good luck.

Well, there are a lot of people telling me that they really make money. I already checked this website out, and I signed up, if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, I make money writing. I search for jobs, send out letters and resumes, get assignments, write, and get paid. I also send some writing out to literary publications that don't pay but provide reasonable exposure to help with future endeavors.

That sounds good!
I don't see it as my dream, but as a rewarded leasure. Although it's not easy when you're out of ideas, writing is a good hobby, isn't it?

The only money I make out of writing was when I was a teenager, I used to write small articles for magazines and get paid for them, it wasn't much but I enjoyed it more seeing my name in print and that other people would be reading my stuff in print. I used to write books and write poetry but I didn't know where to go at the time to get them properly published.

Well, I'm in your situation. I don't know where to get my poetry published. Would you please tell me?
I've visited lulu.com and there I can publish Brochures. I don't know what are brochures... Are there Poetry Brochures?

Yeah, her life changed completely. But I stopped trying to write books, I don't know where to take them... And anyway, I'm under eighteen, so I don't know if I can get them published.

Yes I do. I have been and still is a contributing writer to several print publications on parenting, finance and housekeeping aside from a local newspaper here in the Philippines for more than 5 years now. If you're still a teen, I suggest you write articles that your peers can also identify with, then pitch these to a magazine or website whose target audience are young people. That would be a good start.
Another word of advice, study the publication first, read articles printed in it so you'll get a feel of what the publishers want from the writers. Then get your creative juices flowing, write your best story and submit it to the editor. If you're really good, you just might be surprised at the things that will happen next. Good luck! :)

Well, I don't want to work as a writer, although it seems a relaxed thing.
I am looking for a website that pays me for my writings, an easy one. With "easy one" I mean a well organized website, like mylot. Simple and fast.
Anyway, I'd rather find a Portuguese site, since I'm not american (I make some mistakes in the grammar).
If you can help me finding one, I'd appreciate it.
Thank you.

I get paid the most for writing with Associated Content. Triond has published three of my articles, but they pay in pennies like Helium.
