The Mark of the Beast comes in my Taco Bell total!!! Do you add a taco?

Click to enlarge - This is a receipt from my local Taco Bell but I blacked out the personal information on the receipt so I can not be blamed for Taco Bell getting crank calls. ha ha

OK, let me first say that this is not the first time it has happened. Once upon a time, which means a very long time ago ha ha, I worked for Taco Bell. And for some reason, the total of $6.66 would appear often. Often as in...at least once a day. And here...many years later...it still happens. When I worked for Taco Bell, some people would hear the total and immediately tell me to add another taco or something. They were so uncomfortable with the number, they they had to add another item they had not planned on purchasing in order to change it. While others would not bat a long or short lash at it. As you can see, I did not add anything onto my order. But this got me thinking.... Would you add something on to the order to change the total? Why? (Note: For those that do not know what the mark of the best is....it is the mark the Anti-Christ will bear of three 6's.)

Wow, talk about talking superstition too far! The number 666 is just a number, get over it, it's no worse than 665 or 667. Just because it happens to relate to the 'so called devil' It's like 13, so what? If something came to £6.66 I wouldn't bat an eyelid and the person serving me has never batted an eyelid either. So what happens in USA then, because I know your addresses are quite highly numbered. Do people then refuse to live in a house with 666 in it? I would out of shere awkwardness, and pound to a penny properties with 666 as the address will be a bargain as no one else would want it so bring it on!

Actually, I know hotels will skip that number for a room. I don't think they give houses those numbers either. But my social security number is very very close to that number in it. But my brother...whom we had our social security numbers requested at the same time, is only a few number off from mine...so I wonder if they government also skips those numbers. ha ha I agree. It is just a number...but some people get very uncomfortable with it.

Great discussion! I am glad that you have a receipt to prove it, not that we wouldn't believe you! :D That is interesting, but all I really think is it is just a number. I would be one of those people that wouldn't do anything or freak out. I might not even notice it then or at all. I don't understand why someone would add anything else to their order. That total was there initial amount. And, I don't think that it actually means anything! Did anything happen on 6.6.06 last year? No, because it is just a number that someone from the past probably made up. I really don't know, so I am just going to leave it at that! :) Oh, and nice Seven Layer Crunch Wrap Supreme! I haven't tried one of those...but they look so good!! :D

I agree. It is a number. And I did not change my items. Besides, I was way too full to have eaten anything else! ha ha I think movies have also helped to boost the fear of the numbers. I don't know if you have seen the movie that Omen. I have seen bits and pieces of it...but it is not my type of movie. Crunch Wrap is that bomb!!!! LOL

Don't worry. I am sure that someone at some point in the future will get you a Crunch Wrap. ha ha You can not go Crunch Wrap-less all your life. That would be a complete depravity of life! ha ha

That is exactly what I thought. Movies are the ones that made people really scared, and probably actually realized it. The day might have passed by to others without even noticing it...but everyone made such a great big deal about it. Especially with the movie. And, no I have never seen the movie! I don't think that I would want to either! :) Maybe someday in the FUTURE I could try one!! LOL :D

It's only another number to me and I'm only adding another taco if I decide I need more than I'd originally ordered. LOL = ) The number 666 was explained by Sylvia Browne as a historical fact of being Nero's address (the youngest Emperor of the Roman Empire) ... it was something that was started long ago by Christians and has absolutely nothing to do with the devil, beast or evil but was merely a political rumor that he was the Anti-Christ ; )

I hadn't read anything from Sylvia Browne on that number. Of course, I have only read one of her books due to a friend pushing it on me. But it turned out to be very interesting. :) I might have to look that up now. :) Thanks!

I've read a lot of her books and find them all very interesting so far but this was something she said on Montel William's show and at her lectures... so I'm not sure if it's in a book or not??? Ask Gnostic. Maybe she's read some that I haven't ; )

I've read a couple of places that what's called '666' isn't really the numbers 666, it's actually letters that form a word that was used to refer to the devil (in Greek or Aramaic or whatever language). So the numbers 666 may actaully have no significance at all. Can't remember the places I read this, though.

Just read response #14 and it sounds familiar... early Christians referring to a Roman emperor as the devil or antiChrist or whatever. Think I heard it on one of those shows on the Discovery History channels or TLC. Maybe some fast food place could get the idea of pricing an item so that it would comeout to be $6.66 with tax, and superstitious customers would order an additional item to avoid the dreaded number.

I actually have had that exact total...and I'm one of those who didn't bat an eye about it...to me it's just a number...although some people might freak out about it..just like I don't freak out with Friday the 13th...uh..I did a discussion about that!! LOL

Yes, Friday the 13th are lucky. Nothing happened last year on June 6th. Actually, the day passed by and I forgot that was the day people were dreading. I am not one much to take stock in the fear of those numbers.

Wow, more people are thinking that it is just a number than what I thought. That is a good thing though...because it is just a number! And, Friday the 13th! That is a lucky day. I love proving that to everyone that believes that it is unlucky and bad! :) In the end, they do have a great day!

I don't like that number and i'd be one of the ones adding something to my order so the total would be different. I once was getting a car loan and the last 3 numbers of my payment each month would have been that, so I paid a little more of a downpayment so it wouldn't be like that.

Oh! That is where the tag for car loan came from. :) I was wondering why this discussion was tagged car loan...but now that makes sense. ha ha How much of a higher down payment did you have to make to make a difference?

I think I only added like $1 on it. The banker wasn't very happy with me, because they had to redo all the paperwork.

I can't recall that ever happening to me but I have had the total come out exactly even and that impressed me. I guess it doesn't take much.lol. I don't think I would add anything to my order if it came out $6.66. I would just say after I ate that the devil made me do it.lol.

I get this a lot too as a cashier at the Wal-Mart (yeah I moved back up front for reasons you know). And like you I get both of those reactions. But only sometimes they add something else because it's hard to do sometimes at Wal-Mart when you're already up at the register. It's easier to do at Taco Bell or somewhere like that. For me I don't care 'cause well like you I don't have such beliefs. But I guess you already knew my answer too LOL :)

Did you know there is a proper name for having a fear of the number '666' .. it's .. hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia You wouldn't want to try and say that too many times would you .. and poor old Ronald Reagan (one time actor and 40th President of America) was linked to 666 on the flimsiest of premises .. his given name, middle name (Wilson), and surname each have six letters, thus 6-6-6, or 666 !! And again in America you recently numbered a new highway as 'US Route 666' ... which was instantly nicknamed around the world as 'The Devils Highway' ... anyone been along it?? So folks will often look for links to '666' .. whether out of curiosity or fear I'm sure I don't know ..

that's funny, i never cared, it just didn't matter to me, and still doesn't. I'm a huge lover of taco bell, and there's a couple of times when i'm pretty sure my total's come to the same thing as that, but i guess i just didn't care. Though most of the time my total is almost 10 bucks, because for just me (I'm the only one who likes taco bell haha) i could probly eat the place out!!! But even other places, if that's my total, i just don't care i guess.

Tia, This is both funny and scary at the same time. No, I would not add to the order. I am not supersticious (I am too tired to spell) at all. I know that 666 is a bad number but unless you are are the devil or his followers, I dont think you have anything to worry about. I doubt very seriously if you are the devil or his followers. LOL

ha ha You know, if you ask some people, they might disagree with you about me not being a follower. ha ha Sometimes people see me with purple streaks and get the total wrong impression. LOL It is actually a little funny. But you are right, I am not a follower. :)

I hate to be the bearer of bads news, but it appears that you may be doomed. Okay, maybe not. Does anyone really put much stock in these ideas? It is merely a number, and nothing more.

There is no chance at all that I would change myorder becauseof the number. Now, if it was the numbers thathad to be punched into the hatch on Lost...tha's a different story! I might deduct a taco from that!

I would add something to the order if it were mine. I knoe some people don't believe it's the mark of the beast or the devil's numbers, but I do. I don't like those numbers no matter how they come. I won't even right them.

As a Christian I would have to say that I would add a taco ... if I was hungry for one, otherwise forget about it! 666 is the mark of the beast, but it when the Anti-Christ is revealed there will be many more factors involved besides your Taco Bell receipt! Since I'm also "Pre-Trib" I know that I won't be around for the tribulation when the Anti-Christ will have free reign, so to speak.

I'd order another taco, a bell granda, a few chalupas...BECAUSE I'M HUNGRY! Heck if you heard my stomach right now you'd think I was the beast. Who cares about a silly number so long as my wallet can cover it.

Thats what I have when I'm NOT hungry. To give you an idea of how much I can eat when hungry, I once went to a restaurant know for serving large portions. I placed my order & the waitress started to walk away. My wife had to stop her because she hadn't taken everyone elses order yet. The waitress thought I'd ordered for the whole table. She had to ask my wife If I was seriously going to eat that much. My wife told her "Yea, & probably order desert later!".

Nah. I'd smile slightly, thinking of a good friend of mine's jokes about the number and move on. It's just a number. (This is ignoring the fact that I don't like and would never order tacos lol)

I work in retail. I worked for a lego store for 2 yrs. I used to get either the change being $6.66 or a total sometimes too. I'd make a comment and MOST didnt care about it! But I would sheash. I recall my boss, the assistant manager said to me once "a strong christian wouldnt care about that" but still its kinda creepy! As creepy as if you were born on 6.6.06. I think it was last year I recall how ladies having babies were like having them have them early their babies just so they wouldnt have a baby born on 6.6.06 for fear the baby would be the antichrist or something. I wouldnt blame them! The mark of man is 777 just to let ya know. I think its a good number and that is right I think?? I'm guessing sorry :)

Yeah when i reach 666 on my number of posts here i had to add at least one more quickly so it wouldn't be that number. lol. Its amazing what people will go through not to be stuck with that number. Nobody wants to be marked by the devil.
