When you get food that is not what you ordered, or not up to your standards do |
|
you return it or ask for a refund? I know some people do this in a more expensive restraunts and places like that, but I am wondering if anyone does this when say they go through the drivethru for some fast food and you don't get what you ordered or it is sub-par in condition. Will you return it and ask for a different one, or maybe even ask for a full refund and leave without any food. Or are you like me and will just drive off and take it. lol There have been a couple of times that I actually threw the food away completely because it was so bad, but I didn't want the hassle of trying to go back and get my money back, so I just threw it away and got something else instead.:) Are you like me, or do you get a refund?

1. PsychoDude (1968) | 3 years ago | I go back to ask for the correct stuff, they messed up so they should also fix it. No matter whether it's fast food or not, it's still a restaurant.

2. easy888 (4305) | 3 years ago | Hello, uniquenorthern,if the food i get is not what i ordered,i may eat it anyway if i do not dislike the food i get,i do not want to go back to ask them to make me a new one. If the food i get is not up to standard, for example,if it is not fully cooked,i will ask them to make me another one.I think we have the right to ask for another one or get the refund.

3. KissThis (2636) | 3 years ago | I go back and make them correct my order. I don't have alot of money to waste because someone else fails to do their job correctly. I see no reason why I should have to pay for something twice when they should have gotten it right the first time. I even let the manager know how upset I am that I have to wait twice as long as I should have because the couldn't get the job right the first time. If this happens just once or twice I don't make that much of a big deal about it. Because I understand accidents happen. But there is one fast food restaurant here that I take my children to that always messes up my order. I would go to a different one but this is the one my children like and since I don't allow them to have fast food that often I think that they should get what they want.

4. castleghost (1113) | 3 years ago | I got sick of my food not being served to me correctly. They always added extra ingredients or left something off. So these days when I order my food I order everything plain. I figure they should be able to get that right. Its nice and simple. I have to admit that at times my order will still be messed up. If it isn't that bad I will go ahead and eat. But if it is just something that I can't tolerate then I will go up and complain. I don't think that it would be fair for me to have to purchase a second meal because they didn't get it right. Besides who is to say that they would be able to get it right the second time?

uniquenorthern (560) | 3 years ago | lol, I did the same thing for a while, but I got really tired of plain burgers. Plus like you they still tend to mess that up too, so I might as well go for the big kahuna and pick off whatever I actually didn't order.:)

5. stephcjh (22409) | 3 years ago | When I get food that I did not order or up to my standards, I will return it to the my server and tell them what is wrong with it. I will not ask for a refund unless my next order ends up the same way. I always give the resaurant a second chance but after that, I won't. I try not to be rude to them but they should serve the food correctly at least by the second time. I have also thrown away food to avoid the hassle of complaining about it. After so me times though, i will definitely ask for a refund.

uniquenorthern (560) | 3 years ago | Totally agreed with your comments. I am also polite when requesting a different dish because they messed up the first one in a restaurant, but there are some times that I just want my money back, as I have lost my appetite by then. lol

6. teapotmommommerced (5724) | 3 years ago | I will go in and ask to talk to the manager and get my money back, if I have the time. I usually have lost my appitite if the food is that bad if it is at a drive through. If it is at a sit down restaurant I will say something if it is a wrong order. If I just do not like it, lets say I have never had something and I am trying it out, I usually will not say anything. I eat around it or I order something else. If I complain it depends upon my mood and how hungry I am. I that does not make sensce but I am a women and I am fickel

7. Phlamingho (7334) | 3 years ago | That depends on the place. If I order one burger at McD and get another one I'll probably just eat it. But if I'm at a fine resturant and get the wrong dish then I would send it back. I wouldn't demand my money back unless something really bad happened.

8. makingpots (6662) | 3 years ago | I don't like to order food by drive through for the very reason you speak of. It is so often a wrong order because they care about speed more than anything. I use to just tell myself that is what I get for ordering junk food.
But lately I have a hang up with something and it is driving me nuts. I drive through Starbucks ALOT. I have a child in a car seat so it is easier to drive through. I order a drink that is made by topping it off with foam, when I get the drink there has been so much foam placed on the top and so little milk/latte that I might as well have payed for the drink a size smaller. I have tried ordering the rink without the foam and they tell me that "machiatto" means through the foam, so the drink is intended for the expresso shot to be added through the foam. Starbucks in tooooooooo expensive to not receive a full drink when you paid for it. I have become so annoyed lately about it that I actually go to the trouble to carry my son in and ask that they top of the drink with steamed milk. I really MUST kick this Starbucks habbit of mine.

9. easyliving (1541) | 3 years ago | I politely call over the waitress and tell her this is not what I ordered. If I get a hassel or rudeness of any kind I will then ask to speak to the management. If I still get an attitude I will then ask for a refund and not eat there ever again. On drive thrus, if I get home and it is not what I ordered I immediately call the restaurant and talk with the manager or person filling thre orders and tell them what happened. In most cases they will either make restitution or allowance toward next purchase.

uniquenorthern (560) | 3 years ago | Yes, very true. I sometimes just don't have the energy to go back and argue with some of these people. I find that in an actual sit down restaurant that I will say something though. As I am still sitting right there and don't have to drive back or call to complain. lol

10. xxidriveastick (692) | 3 years ago | If I'm paying for something, I'm gonna get what I want. So no matter what restaurant we're at, I'll return the food. If they give me a hard time about it, which a lot of fast food places tend to do, I just get a refund and usually write a nasty letter to their corporate offices.:) My husband's worse than me though.. if I ask for something without onions and they put onions on it, I don't mind picking them off because it's not worth my time to point out the mistake. But if my husband sees me do it, he gets them to fix it.
