As many Mylot members will be aware, 4 year old Madeleine McCann disapeared in Portugal over a fortnight ago, and is still missing. There are two websites set up to give support for Madeleine and her family. However there have been a number of other sites set up to cash in on the publicity surrounding Madeleine, these are exploiting Madeleine by using her name slightly mis-spelled so that these unscrupulous people can try and make massive earnings from people trying to support Madeleine but typing in the wrong URL. These disgusting people get paid if someone clicks through on adverts on the site. Indeed some of the sites are linked to inappropriate adult sites.
The two genuine sites are at http://www.findmadeleine.com/ and http://www.bringmadeleinehome.com/ any other similar sounding websites are false.
I would urge all Mylot Members to show support for Madeleine by going to the genuine sites, and leaving a message of support or download a banner to display, and help increase publicity to enable Madeleine to be found.

I´m stunned by the evilness of these individuals. I refuse to call them people. What they are doing is truly sickening. I hope the little girl´s parents are not aware of this.
Thanks for posting the genuine links here, Eskimo.
Anything that might contribute to finding this poor little girl is useful.

Eskimo,This is an awful thing these scammers are doing.
I just don't get it!!!
It amazes me at the low levels that some can sink!!
I wish they would find this little sweet child.
I cringe to think what kind of person or people would steal a child from her bed..a place she should be safe..
Thanks for this discussion. It is truly a service to us all.

Personally this is the problem when they have children disappear like this, and the problem with publicity and such as a whole. Many times when kids disappear there are sites that are set up where people think are really helping the kids who are missing and in turn it is a SCAM for someone else to profit off of. I would think many of these would be monitored more to prevent things like this as well. Look at the Anthony case here in the US just recently. Same thing.

Sad and shocking events like this little girl's kidnapping always seem to bring out the worst in people as well as the best. Hard to face the fact that even with the whole world searching, this little angel can't seem to be found. I always think that the reason we have so much crime like this in the USA is because we're a big country and it's easy for criminals to get away and hide. It looks like it's the same the world over.

No responses?!? NO RESPONSES!?!
This world is appauling.
Well thank you eskimo for alerting us to something very important.
I really do hope that everyone in the world is taking this as seriously as the British.
i think it is shocking that this little girl has went missing and not returned yet and think about her everyday.
Someone needs to try and bring down these con websites and what you are doing is helping.
Thank you

Oh No Eskimo , my friend! I have posted a discussion about Maddy with a different web site! It is one I got from a daily paper last week too! It was www.findmaddy.org/ oh my goodness I have been sending people to a con site on an important issue like this I don't believe it! I would never normally ask this but would you mind if I started another discussion apologising and with a link to yours on it? I really need to do something about this - I feel terrible about what I have done!

I've had a look at your site, and although its not an official one, it looks as if it may be alright, and gives links to the genuine one as well.
I think we should all stand firm and support Madeleine as much as we can, and I would not object to you giving out links which would help to go to the genuine sites.
