What is/was best comedy on television?  

My favorite comedy is Friends. I think it is absolutely hilarious. But I also really like the show Drake and Josh, even though it is more for younger kids, lol. But it is really funny. And I like the shows Threes Company and I Love Lucy.

I will have to start my list with The Simpsons..there is nothing as funny as that..I can also add King of Queens, Sanford & Son, and Frasier

Seinfeld is hard to beat. I've found a new one, or at least it's new to me, MONK. It is very funny and entertaining.

I also like Seinfeld, golfproo. It is one of my all time favorite television shows. Bob Newhart, too. The old show and the new one. I loved both of them.

I was a big fan of M*A*S*H when it was on, but don't find myself watching reruns like I do with Seinfeld and like I would do if Newhart was on.

There are some English comedies I really love ( I am Australian).
I love the "Frank Spencer" one, "Man about the House", "Dad's Army", to name a few.
They are very old. At the moment there is a rerun on some of these comedies & I am very much enjoying it.

but i have found myself to like Scrubs, friends, Green Wing, (in a weird way).

My favorite until now is still Friends when it comes to comedy. This is one show that would make me laugh really hard. Each of the character is alive with their own antics and that is the special thing about that show. I hope that they will continue with new episodes or season so that I could go on laughing my heart out.

I have to say there have been some great classic shows on tv here in the UK. The first one which comes to mind is the Two Ronnies. Also Morcambe and Wise, Little and Large and Cannon and Ball. None of these are currently on tv unless shown as repeats on the satellite channels.

Current good comedy shows are Little Britain, Catherine Tate, Alastair McGowan and Ronni Ancona. I guess Friends is also a good one although I am not sure if that comes under situation comedy instead.

Mine was definitely Friends. Nothing has ever compared since. I also loved Wings and Newsradio. All three were so clever and had great ensamble casts.
