Buying things we dont need or want  

I have never smoked in my life and will never do it. But still i buy lighters. I love those stylish lighters. Let it be as expensive as 400 bucks but still i buy it. But i never need it.

I have a lot of things like this. For the most part they seemed like a good idea at the time, but get no love later. A few things I always intended to use later.

Yes Ellie, you are right. Many things we buy even which are not of use to use. When we analyse we find that few things are lying as it is and going to be waste. This is because of improper planning before purchasing. When we go to market, first we should make a list prioritywise. This will avoid us to purchase unnecessary things which is just waste of money. I do take care of this. Make a list and buy. Even whenever I feel to buy any new thing which comes to my mind when I am at other work, I pen down it in a notebook. Whenever I visit market I buy. In market we find lot of attractive things to buy but we should avoid.

Its called impulse purchasing blame it on the marketing ply... you should be able to recognise it. Its called "SALE"!

I also blame eBay... LOL :P

yes,I always bought something that is not necessary actually before,but now I do not.because I do not have much money,I have to save money,so I buy things as few as I can.

I do it sometimes if I saw the product is on sale for future use. But buying it for the real prize and I don't really used it now. NO I will just wait for them to be sale. I don't have enough money to spend to satify me or for just collection. I have lot things to buy and is more important for me so I will buy it first.

People constantly look outside of themselves to fill up the emptiness inside. I am currently trying out not buying anything except what I really need - groceries, underwear and socks, books (I don't really need th ebooks, but htey are at least mentally stimulating). Last week I had to buy a backpack because I walk to work and needed something to put all my things into. i have been putting this off for months now.

The problem has never been what humans do to the earth, it is the quantities that we do it in and the same goes for shopping. I am really trying to live light.

It is part of consumerism. I believe the advertisements and TV commercials play a great deal in that. They create a sence of necessity and we get into their trap and finally buy things which are not so necessary for us. I think it happens in almost every households. We have recently purchased a DVD player, but has very little time to watch movies. It is kept idle here.

yaa, i also feel the same. but there arenot too many things that i bought i knew i wont use. may be tghere can be few clothes only.but still i regret also. i think i sud have considered well before i bought those.

Sometimes i also do the same, I bought a jacket which i think would be useful but only few wear of it, i don't want it anymore. I bought small meat grinder, i am thinking i will be using it often but later on, i prefer ready made ground meat, so it's useless. If i found a thing attractive or cute, i buy it, i am thinking that it will be useful but most of the time not, so it goes to collection area.
