I think it's very possible for him to. Will he win the Presidency? I don't know. From everything I've seen of him I have liked but I haven't really done much research on him which I prefer to do on any candidate. I don't like going just by what others say. I like to know the facts and judge for myself.

Yes, it is unwise to take the hype as fact without researching the man for yourself

I don't think so. It has nothing to do with his race. It has to do with his lack of experience. He is only a junior senator. Let him get more experience behind him and maybe he will be ready by 2012. I would need to know a lot more about him, his platform and his experience.

I am with you on all those points. I hope the superficial is not sufficient to get him elected till we have better data to judge his positions by.

I sincerely hope that we have advanced enough as a nation that his race should not be an issue. Unfortunately, I am worried that as a whole, we have not. THere are a lot of people out there who really can't get past it, and I think that is so sad. I have researched Mr. Obama ever since he announced that he may consider running, and so far I like what I see. I guess everyone who really likes him should start spreading the word now, so that when the time comes, he has a strong following.

I do not think color will keep a candidate from winning the presidency any more. I believe the issues and experience will play much larger roles in the matter. With only 2 years in national office to his credit, I expect Obama will have a better chance later elections.

Why not? It is not his looks or his polish that have convinced me! It is his deep intelligence, common sense, and willingness to look at all issues as if new and not written in indelible ink. He is the least polarized candidate I have seen in a long time. And I wouldn't even call him a democrat. He is a PEOPLE'S CANDIDATE, as I see John McCain as being also. Read something more about him before you are so quick to judge.

I think that the biggest plus that Obama has going for him is actually his lack of experience in the political world. While this is a good thing due to the fact that he is less likely to be jaded and just follow along with what the democratic party wants, it is also a disadvantage that will hurt his chances for earning the Democratic Nomination. Unfortunately, I believe that Hillary is more likely to gain the nomination.

I think you are right about Hillary, she has the most money and the biggest name recognition

It's entirely possible for him to win the nomination. Obama is far less polarizing than the Clinton alternative and would not be hindered by previous failed campaigns as would be the case with Kerry or Gore.
