Do you Multitask or Concentrate doing one particular thing only??

noise around us such as music or television shows take away our concentration to what we're doing. i am just like you elcbxn. especially when reading and responding to discussions. i can easily be destructed and i hate it.

ElicBxn,may be when you are doing crafts,you do not need to think or analyze by your brain,you only need to move with your hands,but when we are replying,we need to think and build up ideas,it is impossible for us to hear and understand what the TV or radio is on.

maryannemax,but some members said that they can concentrate better with music on,I m not sure about the reasons behind.

hi,maryannemax,evem when i have switched on my television,it will be like a background noise,at particular moment,i will either focus on typing and replying or i will focus on the television if it is the news or other programme that i am interested on.
I can focus on one thing only.

So will you multitask when you are mylotting,how can you manage multitask?? Or is it like a habit?

It just comes natrul to me and yes i can multitask when i am on my lot i cook, do laundry all kinds of things.

It will be a good thing for you,i mean doing the chores at the same time when you are mylotting,you may finish them quicker.:)

I think my mind will get messed up if i were to do so many things at the same time.i can only do things well only if i concentrate on them or i will stuff them up.

So that mean you can think of different things in your mind,for example,you are typing a reply in mylot,you can plan something else in your mind,can;t you?
How does being a paralegal help you handle multitask well then?

Spending the last 20 years as a paralegal we are taught that we need to multi-task many different responsibilities at the same time, I guess it carried over to my personal life, I can be involved in a television show or a movie and type at the same time, I read my typeing over, but I don't need to look at the keys on the keyboard to know what I am typing is correct.

Oh,yeah,i can imagine how fast you can type without looking at the keyboard..For me,i have to look at the keyboard every time or i will have a lot of typos.
I can imagine being a paralegal would be very hectic everyday,not only you could do multitask,you should be able to handle pressure pretty well,aren;t you?

Life was very crazy as a paralegal, everyday was a different day, these days I just live peacefully and pray that my daughter does not bring too much drama into my world.

As i remember, you had started a discussion about your daughter,she had graduated from the college and looking for a job at the time you started the discussion,how is she going now?

Yes, my little drama queen that she is, she is doing great, thanks for asking Easy, she got a part time job waitressing and getting unemployment to make up the rest of the income she is missing, she is still looking for her dream job (writing) and I am sure it will come with enough effort.

True,she has to be more patient when looking for jobs as they will not come to you at once when you need them.But may be she can get a chance later,life is full of hope.

Yes I am in a poker tournament right now. when I get an email for here it notifiys me of it and then I will respond to it and then when it is my turn on the poker table my tab will flash and I will hop over there and then jump back here. right now I have four things going on at the same time.

yeah and also see what is going on on television.I sometimes go to promosquad which is a music site that you can rate music on. I do this and mylot.

Wow,but can you really hear what is on the TV when you are replying in mylot?

True,sometimes when i am boiling water in the kitchen and then go back to my bedroom mylotting,i will forget about the water.

I've burned up many boiled eggs that way too! LOL.
