Paperbacks Or Hardcover: which do you prefer? |
| |
| I love to read and I get many books from various sources. Some are borrowed and some are given to me. Some I buy new and others I get used. I love hardcover books, especially when they are new. They aren't convenient to carry with me though. I can't just toss it in my bag when I have to go somewhere and want some reading material like a doctor's office. Also, paperbacks are not only convenient to carry, but they are much cheaper. They are also easier to store. Which do you prefer, hardcover or paperbacks and where do you get your books from most of the time? | | | | | |

| | I used to join books clubs because you could get five or six books for a dollar. However, the obligation of having to return cards to remind them not to send the monthly selection got to be too much of a hassle. Now I just get them from friends, bookstores, online or at garage sales. | | | |

| | That is what happened to me so I canceled all my clubs and I get them where ever I can... | | | |

| | I never liked the requirement of having to buy a certain amount of books over a certain time period (varied with every club). In my experience, the introductory offers had the best books and then the catalogues had no books that interested me! | | | |

| | i love love books. hardcover ones especially. i love collecting hardcover books that deal with cooking, home management, fashion, jewelry, crafts, wine, architecture. in short books that are about lifestyle. i also love to collect the classics in hardcover. hardcovers can be expensive so i wait a while until they are on sale. i find a lot of good deals at goodwill or the salvation army. books that would be $30 and above are marked for under $10. the latest one that i bought from good will is tolstoy. it was gorgeous. hardcover with gold design and lettering plus the pages were gold rimmed? it was such a good deal and under $5 too! have a nice day!

| | I used to belong to every imaginable book club going...but no more....I had to really cut down on my book buying habits...Now if there's a fiction book I want to read I'll go to the library--but then there are some books I just HAVE to have---for this I go to Amazon.com and find books at the fraction of the cost especially if they're used, and I usually do prefer hardcovers...I did a pre-order for instance of the last Harry Potter book at half price..now books are/were the ones I insist on hardcover! | | | | | | |

| | I do love hardcover books. I certainly won't give them away. They stay in my library. I love the feel of a hardcover book in my hands. But I like the convenience of paperbacks as I also like to take one with me everywhere because you never know when you will have time to kill. I know hardcovers are expensive. I was a member of a book club as well and eventually cancelled. They are "begging" me to come back but I haven't even read the books I got from them years ago when I first joined the club. Ridiculous but because I am trying to focus on my writing, reading hasn't been a priority, unless they are books on writing. If I can get hardcovers cheap at the basement sale at the library or the Salvation Army or other thrift stores, then I will take them. Of course, even thrift stores mark their hardcovers higher than their paperbacks. But that is business. | | | | | | |

| | I like hardback books but they cost too much. So I prefer paperback books. I buy most of mine from bookstores in the mail, or walmart, or ebay. I love to read. We are thinking of starting a book club at work and just sharing our books. That way we all don't spend a lot of money on books. I think it is a good ideal. | | | | | | |

| | I prefer hardcover. Paperbacks get ruined very easily, where as hard cover books iwll take spills and other things a lot better I dont go a lot of places but yes a paperback is easier to tranport stick in pockets in the car, roll to fit in the glove box or console etc. Paperbacks are cheaper up front, but if I end up replacing a book based on that, I should have bought the hard cover to begin with. | | I like both actually and sometimes I get them at various places. I got some at a Barnes and Noble sometime back when it comes to books. I think it just depends on the title and what I can afford at the time. I have no preference between the two. | | | | | | |

| | I prefer paperbacks. They are easier to carry around and dont take up alot of space in my tote bag. I am a avid reader so the price is so much better for me, since my family is on a budget. I normally buy my books from Halfprice books but I have a really good friend who will give me her books when she is done since we have the same taste in authors. | | | | | | |

| | I get mine from a trade in bookstore. I have many hardcovers but as I like to read in bed I prefer paperbacks as they are easier to hold when in bed. | | | | | | |
