Cyclists Get Off The Pavement |
| |
| One of my pet peeves is when I'm walking along on the PAVEMENT there is a cyclist coming towards me and they automatically expect me to get out of the way! Trouble is I'm an obstinate bu**er and I don't if they say anything I give them a mouthful about cycling on the pavement! I actually walk in the middle so they have to stop or slow down to pass me!I understand small children using pavements when they are supervised with parents, that is acceptable But grown adults? This is actually AGAINST the law, not that you'll find a policeman around, too busy racing to get back for the last digestive biscuit!Seriously tho' do cyclists on pavements annoy you? Do you say anything or do you happily move out of their way! | | Cyclists Get Off the Pavements | | | | |

| | I don't let things bug me too much. I just put one foot after the other and get past things that might annoy me. If my pain level is through the roof I just stay in my room away from everybody so not to be grouchy. It's really noone elses fauth that I am in pain so I don't have a right to take it out on them. | | I agree. If there are children on the pavement the cyclist should go on the street and go around them and the same way if someone is walking on the pavement they should also get on the street. It's not going to hurt them to get on the street but as for the children they should stay on the pavement. Not too long ago I was walking and here come those cyclist as it looks like it was going to run over us oh I get so mad but of course I had to get out of the way . Some grown ups just don't think of how others feel isn't that a shame? I don't like to say anything to them because I don't want to start some trouble but I am waiting for others to say something. | | | | | | |

| | I don't see too many cyclists on the sidewalks in my town- Most of them ride on the roads or streets- I would get out of the way though if I did see them- Especially if it was a child or young adult- It wouldn't annoy me- or so I say- It might be different if it happened alot- I can imagine you walking right down the middle of the sidewalk- I bet the cyclists say things back to you! | | | | | | |

| | I don't know, if it is the law I might nicely mention that to the person. I am not an advocate of being rude to people. On the other hand, I am handicapped and use an electric scooter. While I do make a real effort to stay to the right side of any space {in USA] I often find people will walk towards me, stop right in front of me and then act like I am suppose to move for them. I have had people bump into, I have stopped, and they will walk right into me. Then they act like I have no bussiness being in their way. LOLOLOL I think this is more of a problem with people being self centered and thinking the whole world should get out of their way. | | | | | | |

| | I am a cyclist, because I don't drive, but I like to think that I am a pretty considerate cyclist. However, having said that, do I sometimes cycle along the pavement, yes I do, particularly if it is along a busy road, am I careful and watchful for pedestrians, yes I am. As a cyclist something that really annoys me, are pedestrians who think they have a right to walk all over the cycle paths, in fact I cannot tell you the number of times that I have ended up cycling on the path because people were walking on the cycle track! then don't get me started about the people that like to smash glass all over the place, or worse still are the people that walk their dogs, either not having them on a lead or having them on a lead that is extended fully across the cycle track. I understand your point of view, but aside from the times where I see blatent idiots, for example cycling in the high street or dangerously, then I disagree with you. As a cyclist I find pedestrians are much more of a problem. | | | | | | |

| | You prove my point, there are polite, considerate people and their are self-centered people who expect others to give way to them all the time. Dogs-----people have no idea how intimidating their precious pet can be to other, especially to elderly and mobility impaired folks. | | | |

| | Yeah, it ticks me off when cyclists don't follow the rules. We all have laws to abide by and I see many of them where I'm from, not doing that. I live in Colorado and we have lots of cyclists who look like their pro or something. I almost hit one once, as I was making a right hand turn. I was in the correct lane and everything, had my signal on, but the cyclist chose not to stop and went right beside me on the right side. Then, had the audacity to yell at me!!!! I'm all for cyclists and I think it's great they are maintaining their health by staying in shape, but it would be great if they could abide by the road rules as everyone else is supposed to. | | | | | | |

| | Hi wolfie! Wow I am amazed, the cops in England eat doughnuts too? (a funny:) I can understand how you feel. We live in a rural area and of course no sidewalks, but we have problems with them being on our paved highways. They have every right to ride on the road, but out here we have a lot of two lane roads, and not much shoulder. They obviously can't go speeds that cars do, and most travelers are considerate as most cyclists are. But some do not move over and allow you to pass. I feel like it is very dangerous to them (and possibly motor vehicles). They think because they are in the boonies, there won't be a lot of traffic I guess, but they are mistaken. There are also a lot of semi trucks and large company van's. And not just a few now & then... but many! (cyclists) | | | | | | |
