Have you ever wanted one of your discussions to be deleted?

Recently I had a few discussions deleted. I had hoped they wouldn't be, but I knew that changes were pretty good that they would. I'm over it now. Life goes on.
But now, I posted a discussion recently and noticed a spelling error in the title. I tried to go back to the previous page and correct it before I completed it, then I started a new discussion on the same topic.
Now I have two discussions on the same topic and they both have a decent number of good replies.
I also noticed that the original discussiond doesn't have ONE but TWO mistakes. The worse part is that it is on something that I think is pretty meaningful.
I'm wishing it would go away, but at the same time, I don't want people to lose their points if and when it does get deleted.
This is really frustrating (and embarrassing) for me.
I see the title and the mistakes are just like a neon sign to me.

Yes! I have had several I wish I could go back and delete or delete later. I hate that isn't an option yet for us. Like ones that have been there for months and months and have no response.
Or ones where you forget a picture you wanted to post with it...etc Or like you had the spelling error in the title itself. Its so annoying and a bit embarrassing.

Yes it is. Some forums have the option of editing your discussions even after it's been posted. I kind of wish we could do that here. I'm sure they have reasons why we can't. But still, it would be nice.
I wouldn't want to delete a discussion ones people have replied to it because it would lose them some earnings, but fixing mistakes would be great.

What is it about this site that makes everyone feel so guilty about making mistakes? ;-) Miamilady, I am sure people will understand :-)

Thanks. I guess it's a fear of looking ignorant or foolish. Although sometimes I go off on things and I'm not concerned what people think.
I'm not a logical person! lol

The only occasion that I have actually wanted my discussion deleted is when I made stupid errors in that I had made a couple of spelling mistakes in the title. Unfortunately there is no 'edit' button which would be soooo useful! So you can at least go back and correct any typos etc. But other than that I've been happy with the discussions and not wanted them deleted.

I think it should be a lot easier to edit our discussions on MyLot. You should also be able to delete them! Mind you, that might mess with the payment system or something.. but edits, for sure! x

No not yet. I think that we should be allowed to edit or delete things though.

yes at least i have one in mind that i regret posting it without thinking some of my friends here in mylot might have interest on my posts. hehe.. it was about one of the instructors. he took a foul step towards me knowing it's absolutely prohibited. it was a bad move. at first i kept it secret because i couldn't imagine myself talked by people with all that non sense. now, it'sa revealed and i have nothing to do but try to deal it every time somebody would ask me about it. at first, when it was spread then, it really is tormenting. i hate to think of myself being in that kind of situation.

It used to bother me also when I noticed spelling mistakes in my discussions. Now I don't worry about it unless it would change the meaning of my discussion. I think most people realize that everyone is typing as fast a possible to answer as many discussions as they can. Spelling mistakes are bound to happen. I don't worry about them.

LOL Believe me sweetheart I believe most if not all of this have done the very same thing! Have a close look at other posts you will see that you are not alone - honestly! Our own mistakes are glaringly obvious and make us shudder while we think nothing of other peoples mistakes! Be kinder to yourself sweety and don't sweat it! xxx

When I post my discussions, I never want them to be deleted. I hope they can be in Mylot forever:) But as to your case, I think it's better that you just keep one discussion. As they are the same, no need to confuse people for the same topic.

I believe we all try as much as we can to avoid our discussions getting deleted by mylot. That is why we "read" the guidelines and regulations and stuff. But I think if you make such a serious mistake in the discussion you have started then you may really wish you could get it deleted. If only there was a delete button or may be at least an edit button, then the problem would be fixed very easily. I guess the only thing you can do is write to mylot admin and request that they delete the discussion on your behalf if they can not edit it for you. Alternatively, you could just let it go and then for all your subsequent discussions, you make sure you check and double check then triple check and then check again before you post it. I think the second alternative is the more practical one, lol. Happy mylotting.

I haven't run up against that yet, but I have seen a lot of discussions that probably should have been deleted because of errors, and total lack of understanding of what the person wanted to say. I imagine that if a discussion was full of errors, or there was an unnoticed typo, the person would probably want to have it deleted.

Hi Miamilady, wheres that edit button when you need it. lol. I know what you mean, whenever I find that one of my posts having a spelling error or bad puctuation they glare at you, taunting you. Theres really nothing you can do about it other than contacting Mylot and asking if they could take care of it for you. When I do it I just tell myself to ignore it. They dont let you fix it so you just have to move on. All my best, Terry

Hello miamilady!
I did have some discussions with some spelling errors which I didn't like but still let it go. I hoped people will forgive the mistakes and will concentrate on the matter inside and I am glad that they did and responded with enthusiasm. Though I edit my post after writing but it seems that somehow mistakes remain there (look I wrote their instead of there here, lol!)especially when the mistaken word is itself right, I just gave you an example:-)
I did have a discussion which had some grave problem. It was about the identity problem of a friend. Identity of one of my friends was revealed somehow and I didn't want people to see it. I requested mylot admin to remove the discussion and they did remove that discussion in a couple of days or so.
I find that editing after writing is the best way so far, I have been able to avoid mistakes with. I wish you best of luck for yours:-)
