Flower and Insect Photography |
| |
| Well I posted one with the bird images yesterday and figured I would try posting a flower shot with a moth on it that I shot a week or so ago. It is a marigold in my garden with a moth on it. I took the image with my new fuji finepix s700 digital camera. I used the super macro setting and it was fairly early in the day and rained the night before. I don't remember the rest of the settings at the time but it is still in the exif/info of the image information/summary, unless when uploading to mylot it doesn't get saved in the same format to save that information. I was farily happy with this shot but every shot can always be better!:) Positive and negative comments are welcome, it is always good to listen to what others think. I always enjoy talking photography and nature photography is a fun hobby in my opinion, | | Moth on the Marigold | | | | |

I'm rather new to the mylot world and I'm not sure what your saying when it comes to download my photos on some pages? Still learning the ropes around here and appreciate the comments. | | Great shot. I love the colors. I think it is hard to get a good, clear, close-up shot of any critter, but you did a great job. Good focus and lighting. I like the composition of the items, also. Do you put your photos on any other sites like istockphoto or fanartreview? | | | | | | |

| | No I haven't placed them on istockphoto or fanartview. I just heard about fanartview in another discussion and I will take a look at istockphoto too! Fanartview looked very interesting and I'm sure istockphoto will turn out to be interesting too. Thanks for the link tips for sure! | | | |

| | Thanks a lot for showing this photo, you are really a professional photographer. I hope to learn to take photos like this some day. It is also interesting to learn what sort of camera has been used for a particular photo. The digital cameras become better and better all the time. The colors in your photo are wonderful!! | | | | | | |

| | one thing i really enjoy about this picture is that the moth and flower are the same colors. it seems like it is using its own personal camo. i love taking pictures of insects but my camera hasn't been quite as good at the insects as i had hoped...maybe if i get a new lens for it. as i said, LOVE THE SHOT! | | | | | | |

| | A good macro, tripod and shutter release help greatly. When using a good macro or telephoto it is difficult to keep that motion blur and camera shake out of an image, but the above items do assist. I'm fairly happy with the macro in the fuji finepix S700 for a non-pro camera. Yes, I would love a much better camera but it is not in the budget. So I'll continue to work on my own techniques, skills and learn the equipment more. I have to do the best with my abilities and hope for the best after that. What type camera and macro do you have? | | | |

| | I don't have a lot of cash right now so I can't do much as far as buying equipment but right now all I have is a Kodak P712 and it's internal macro mode. I am excited to say I will soon have a tripod though! :) | | | |

| | I understand the budget restraints very well! I still do not have what I would like to have but I just need to adjust to what I have and overcome as well as I can. When it comes to nature and photography I have a real passion for creating better imagery. It sounds like you really want to create those great images too. You can pick up a tripod for relatively low price. I'm going to pick up a small tripod for less than $20.00. It will work well for the low shots I like to take even better than my larger tripods. A monopod can be handy too. If you look at my profile there is a picklerweed shot there that I took with a kodak easyshare digital camera and a tripod a while back. It was only like a 2-3 mb camera. I would add some shots here but I don't see a way for me to add a photo in a response. The motion and camera shake really show up when taking macros in any camera. Anything you can use to steady your shot when you are taking a macro will help. Place it on the ground and use breath control when pressing the shutter. Or turn your own hands into a bipod with elbows on the ground or table etc. for whatever your photographing. Every little thing counts when shooting and that is really what it adds up with little things... :) | | | |
