Why would you ever move away from Hawaii?!??!? |
| |
| Hi All my sis used to live south of Kona, HI. She upped and moved to Sand point, ID. I'm not saying ID is not a great place. But there is no where like HI. So I'm just trying to understand the reasons. Her's don't make any sense to me so I'm hoping some of you might be able to shed some light. Rob | | | | | |

| | Kona is a beautiful place. I have been to all the major islands and Kona is beautiful (and has the best coffee in the world). Now why would you move... there are a couple reasons... 1. some people don't like the same weather everyday. HI has the most temperate climate in the world. 2. the fumes from the volcanoes creates ash that is very tough on the lungs and on cars. 3. the price of almost everything is much more expensive than it is on the mainland. Everyone has their own tastes... some like the city, some like the country, some like paradise... it's a personal taste. | | | | | | |

| | I don't think I can post a better answer than the person above me. I agree with everything they said. The first thing that popped into my head though was the volcanoes. Those would scare me wayyy too much! | | | | | | |

| | OK, I'd have to go with the others on this one. Especially if family is so far away. I had a friend who moved here from HI and he desperately wanted to move back. His wife was from VA and that made it difficult. PS - nice to see ya!!! | | | | | | |

| | My daughter and her husband lived there for three years. They totally got bored with it. On sundays they said all you could do is the same ole same ole. And it cost a fortune to fly places if you needed a change. It is beautiful...it's the perfect weather, and I think if you have family there it would be different. | | | | | | |

| | Kona is nice...I was born and raised in Oahu. After graduating HS I moved to cali. I know i always wanted to move. Hawaii is a great place, but the opportunities there to become successful are slim to none. I moved to make something, build a family and just have more. I would love to move back, but living there is really expensive. my parents worked REALLY hard to afford the middle class living we did have. like most people, I wanted more for my children and for my life. living the mainland isn't that bad. i did marry a local boy who lived 20min away from me...he followed me up when he found out i was moving. my kids were born in the mainland, but have been back to hawaii more times then i have. i miss the place...mostly the food...some things are so hard find. | | | | | | |

| | People tell me I am crazy all the time... I moved from Kona to Bowling Green Ohio two and a half years ago. But, I had my reasons. I was born and raised in Ohio, and lived in Kona while attending high school. to be honest, island life just wasn't for me. the big island was too small. the fact that if you drove more than 2 hours, you were on your way home really started to get to me. Plus, as a redhead, I don't tan... I burn. So, being in the sun is literally a painful experience. Don't get me wrong, I love Hawaii, and cannot wait for my class reunion so I have an excuse to go back, but i would never live there again. ...unless of course i become rich and can afford many houses..... | | | | | | |

| | All i have to say is thatit's a bit different living in a touristy area, which most of hawaii is. It's a beautiful; place but most of the jobs are in hotels and some peaople just arn't all for that. I personally would work almost anywhere just to live in paradise though...and I don't even swim. | | | | | | |

| | Hi. Most of the other answers on this page are good, & I agree with them. I visited Hawaii the summer of my HS graduation, with a group of friends. We went to Honolulu, and it was just great. I dream of living in Hawaii someday, there;s nowhere better. The weather's perfect all the time, & the people there are awesome. I would never move away from Hawaii, I'd want to be there for the rest of my life!! | | | | | | |
