Yesterday I took my kids home to their Mother, the trip is a full day trip, so my brother took his mp3 player filled with music.

One group of music was pop music from when we were kids in the 60s. We got talking about the music we remembered. Such groups as the Archies, the Monkees, and Josie and the Pussycats had their start on Saturday Morning TV. Music by Tommy James and the Shondells, and Neil Diamond, and other groups that in those days would record 45 rpm singles (for those that remember single records).

What was the pop music that you listened to when you were a kid or tween, and what was your favorites.

I guess I am in the same age group as you. We also in our latter teens listened to the Beatles, Jethro Tull, Yes, The Who. But then they (other then the Beatles) probably were not considered Pop. In my early teens it was Neil Diamond and Neil Sadaka who I favored. My favorite when I was in my latter teens was Rick Wakeman. I played the Wives of Henry the Eighth and Journey to the Center of the Earth albums over and over. I remember having those 45 rpm single records. But we lived out in the middle of now were and purchased most of our music from a catalog.

I would like to listen to some country music than pop music. I am born in 80s. The country music is my favorite, and they can give me some peace and nice mood.

When I was in my teens much of the music here in the UK was from the Merseyside. The two "biggest" groups were The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. This was in the early to mid 60s. I was a pro. musician myself for around 12 years and I was member of a one or two soul bands which was a great experience, but my first love was for modern jazz (piano). When I play now, I am often "transported" back my youth and all the rebellion that went with it both in myself and the music world. Yes, I remember 45s and LPs. Though they were great, because they wouldn't break if they were ever dropped..
