Do you think I'm a bad daughter? |
|
Here's the situation, I am working with a very low salary but I don't give all of my salary to my parents. I only give a part of it to my mom and then the rest I keep for myself and deposit it in the bank. I don't buy anything for myself, I just save my earnings and give the rest to them. Do you think that I'm a bad daughter because I don't give all of my earnings, even if life is hard these days?

| 21. paychecks (72) | 3 years ago | I do not think you are a bad daughter. When I was of age and still living at home I did not have to pay for room and board. My family never asked of me to do such a thing, only thing I was required to do was pay my cell phone bill, buy my toiletries and my own clothes. Other then that I didnt have to contribute anything to the house. If my family was struggling then I would have offered.

22. jeanena (832) | 3 years ago | No you are not a bad daughter because you dont give all your earnings to your parents. I think they are lucky to have raised a child who helps them with money at all. One who is smart enough to save for her future so she wont be depentant on them later. Life is hard now, but it could be worse in the future who knows.

If you are earning in excess of your immediate needs, which appears to be the case you should give enough to your parents to pay for your food and also contribute to the cost of running the house in which you live. I mean the bills. You say that you don't buy anything for yourself but I presume you buy your own clothes and sundry items?
all the best urban

26. Ricko82 (407) | 3 years ago | I know why you feel like so, but it's never bad to save up for yourself even if it means giving only some to your parents. It's not your full responsibility to give all your salary to them and leave you with nothing. I think I know where you come from. And may I add, if your parents thought the same when they are able to work and earn income, they might not have to depend on their children so much to fend for themselves now. You are just breaking the cycle or children taking care of parents financial needs. But don't get me wrong, I am not saying that you do not care for your parents all together. They are our parents, they brought us in this world, and we owe a lot to them. We have to care for them. That's the least we can do, but to the extent where in you'll let them own your salary. If you're confused with my response, please PM me, and I will clarify it further.

28. alfecris (165) | 3 years ago | certainly you are not a bad daughte. the reason why you have job on your own is for you to learn how to make a living. it is not necesary to give all your income to your parents. good for you that you give a part of your money to your parents but sometimes you may not. it is better to give 10 percent as tithes to God for that is your obligation. why won't you spend some it for your needs and wants atleast you would be happy to see what you have worked on. so don't you ever think that you are bad because you are not unless you are doing something wrong to your parents than thats the time you will yourself bad.

29. nmhschic2004 (1097) | 3 years ago | No of course not. Your parents shouldnt expect you to give up all of your salary. Its nice that your even helping them out. Most kids wouldnt even do that. And the fact that your not buying yourself anything says a lot about your personality. You should buy yourself something nice once in a while.=)

| 30. mbilagan (60) | 3 years ago | No, you are not a bad daughter. The fact that you are giving them a part of your salary I can consider you to be one of a kind. It is not your obligation to give them but still you gave then a part of your salaray. I think that is enough. You also have to think for your future and it is good that you are saving. Dont feel guilty. You are doing the right thing.
