Why do all the best musicians die young?  

I really wish i knew the answer for that question.

That is a question that only they could answer. But you are right. I am older...we had Buddy Holly died young..he set a presidence for rock and roll. Along with him went Eddie Cocharn...and the big bopper. A great loss to society all of them.

Maybe because they abuse there self by drinking and taking a drugs thats why they kill so early at a vey young age.Some people don't know how to handle there life get in to trouble about drugs end up to die so early.

Maybe so, you know they live so hard, with the fast life and all they probably do some things that keep them up for

days and do some other crazy things drinking and killing there liver which is already bad for you anyway. All the

traveling and stress levels must really be hard on them. This picture of Meatloaf probably discribes best what your

i am a musician, but i am in my middle age already. i think the reason why the best musician dies young because they used drugs. maybe because they can be more creative when they are under the influence of drugs. it is true a lot of musician died young and in the peak of their career... wasted.

That is a dreadful thing to ask. I just hope there are no family members of the deceased you are referring to ever hear such a stupid question. BTW there are many musicians and singer who live to a ripe old age.

I don't think that all the best musicians die young, they become more famous/iconic because they died young, people always wonder what they would have done. Drugs may play a part but many also die from accidents(Richie Valens, Buddy Holly)etc. Also how young is young, below 50 below 30 Freddy Mercury which was a excellent musician died at 45 but for me even at 100 he would be too young. On the other hand great musicians like the Rolling Sones are all in their sixties and still going strong. Then there is Kurt Cobain who was 27, which is very young, then the no less amazing Dave Grohl who still has great music.

Then the one artist that was both, love him or hate him Elvis who was young at 42 yet whose life and career were on the decline near his death became more famous after his death.

These are pretty recent but this has been going on for centuries, Mozart the wonderkid died in his 30s whose career was on the decline whilst Beethoven lasted into his fifties getting better with time.

Now for the cliché : All musicians live forever as long as someone
listens to their music.

I am not sure i personally do not believe that the devil works that way! But you never know! Its funny I doudt the excistence of god but rarely do I question that Satan exsists! Funny ha!

Well, I was a pro musician and in my late teens/early twenties, drank far too much. I don't think it's the music so much as the lifestyle. Way back when I was on the music scene (talking here about mid 60s - 70s)the pressure to drink and smoke pot amongst musicians was strong, and yes I succumbed, but fortunately met a girlfriend who was a nurse. She told me in graphic details what could happen to my health. I quit drinking completely and didn't touch a drop for 2 years and since then in moderation.

I later got involved with Zen and saw how stimulants were blocking my consciousness, not enhancing it as many believe. So, whilst I am paying a little for my youthful indulgences, I am still here alive and kicking. But there again, I did not become famous and find incredible wealth landing on my doorstep! Maybe then, without the struggle to survive as most unknown musicians do, things may have been different and I would not be writing this right now. LOL

A found a Brazilian musician I liked very much and his name was Baden Powell, even though he has nothing to do with Boy Scouts! I first heard his music on the radio and then I bought a few of his CD's. When one day I mentioned him to some Brazilian friends, they were the ones that told me he was dead. There won't be any more music coming from him, but he is so well known that one still hears about him anyway, as he is a Brazilian classic!
