toddler's and sippy cups or bottles in bed  

I never put my kids to bed with a bottle or a sippy cup. My step-daughter was used to taking a cup to bed with her when she was 6. I said not in my house. If your thirsty in the night get up and get a drink. She is 9 now and hardly ever gets up in the night. I think it is a bad habit to start,because you have to break it eventually.

When my son was younger he is now 14 I used to send him with a bottle to bed and no it wasn't because I didn't want to get up with him for him it soothed him enough to fall asleep he decided at 9 months old he didn't want his soother anymore so he threw it away....I would take his bottle away when he was done drinking when checking on him...But with my 15 month old I give her a bottle before putting her to bed as I remember how hard it was to take away nap and betime bottles with her brother although my son was more of a bottle drinker then my daughter we have alimated most of her bottles a day she has her morning milk now in a sippy cup the only thing she still has for nap time is her soother...But she still has a bottle at night.

Nope, never did. My son used a pacifier. My Mom and MIL would want to give him a bottle to help hom sleep,but I fought it.

It would just be one more bad habit to break. The pacifier was bad enough.

I've never put my daughter to bed with a sippy cup or a bottle. I've never seen the point, and always thought it was kind of lazy. I always fed her her bedtime bottle while we cuddled, and always tried to put her down in her crib awake so that she can learn how to fall asleep on her own.

In the middle of the night if she needs a bottle or a drink, I get up with her, give it to, and then put her back to bed.

I never sent my kids to bed with a bottle or a sippy cup. My son never woke up for a drink, my youngest til she was about 2 would wake up and need a bottle. I would give her the bottle in the bed and wait til she drank it, then i went in and got it out of the bed and went back to bed.

My son gets a drink of water from his sippy cup before we brush his teeth, and then again after, if he wants one. Then he gets in bed and we read stories and he goes to sleep.

I stopped nursing him when he was 6 months old, and from then on, he never had anything but water if he woke up during the night. Now he wakes up during the night, but he just plays and doesn't cry or ask for anything. He stays in his room until I get him up in the morning.

LOL. Well obviously, the way this is phrased you are going to say if we did this, we are bad.

Yes, I did do that with my daughter, maybe it was a bad thing to do but I was young and I was really tired and had to get up for work in the morning.

I never gave my daughter a bottle of anything to go to sleep. I would be right there is she fell asleep while she was using her bottle. I took it away at the point she did fall asleep. My daughter never woke wanting it at any time. My grandmother always told me to make sure that my babies mouth was clear when she went to sleep. She said that milk or water or food laying on the gums could cause my child problems later with her teeth or gums. I always figured grams knew more than me so I did not let her go to sleep with bottles. My daughters teeth are pretty good and her bite is good too. When my daugher got older and was potty training she did not get anything to drink a half hour before bed and she was fine with it. She also never wet the bed either.

Not only are sippy cups bad for kids teeth - in bed and otherwise but they can choke on it while sleeping. Thanks for the discussion

ya sometimes maybe, but not regularly.
I think this is not a bad habbit because if you take some drink before sleeping then you must sleep very well.
