Preventing Drops In Stars and Ratings---Rate...Rate...Rate!

You are a conscientious gal and I am not surprised that you rate fairly and often. I decided to post this topic because it surprised me how many members do not rate their respondents. I like to do it right away..because of the quality responses I see here..but also it helps me to keep track of comments to my comments when I come back the next day.

It is beyond me why Mylot doesn't have a way of tracking those who are using the system to back stab others for expressing an opinion. So much for free speech! If mylot can delete..and use the system to rate members surely they should be able to go back and see what caused a sudden drop in a members rating..and who did it.

It seems that when it happens the members just take it...maybe the movers and shakers we are need to take on another cause eh Shannon? As if we don't have enough to keep us busy already!LOL Thank you for the lovely post on my Blog..much appreciated.

Thank you for your kudos. I am not sure if members making sure there are no loopholes for trouble makes to rate others negatively. However, all we can do is try. I am sorry to hear about your rating not coming back up. With the number of posts you have made you would think it would by now. Perhaps we need to contact Mylot and encourage them to find a way to reinstate members stars that have been degraded through attacks or for their own agendas.

Good to know your rating has not changed. Seems that quite a few members have had the unpleasant experience of having theirs go down. The un-rated responses are how members with an agenda go around and rate their targets negatively. Hopefully a tightening up of the openings by all members working together might help to prevent that from happening.

So if we rate a plus whenever we see unmarked responses..it might change the dynmaic.

Your approach is a good one. I wish everyone rated everyone else. I am always surprised to see how many members do not rate..even during their own discussions. I see site and site with unmarked ratings and know this is how members who are annoyed with each other go back and abuse the sytem.

Your approach to ratings is like you, fair-minded, honoring and respectful. I know if we all work together to rate in that way we can hopefully prevent those with other goals from lowering the stars of those who least deserve it.

Nice of you to stop by and add your experiences; thank you. I agree with you that best responses are wonderful to receive...a nice little gift from a member when you least expect it.

Hopefully the shared agreement between all Mylotters not to allow 'gaps' in the rating system...anytime...anywhere will create less opportunity for othres to use the system against members they are unhappy with.

I value the fact that you have offered your perspective on the challenges you and the other member have found yourselves in. I posted a response to the chat you had between yourselves on either page one or two. Sometimes people have a rough time taking a self-responsible, accountable approach to the cause and effect of the choices THEY make. My philosophy about life is that others make the choices they feel is right at the time...if it is an error in judgment that creates a wonderful opportunity to find a better way to do it...if they choose to.

If not, they will keep repeating the cycle until they find a way within themselves to change it. In our work as a life coaches and group leaders my hubby and I consistently see people who would rather be 'right' than happy. They have a big investment in maintaining the way they see things...and it is very hard for them..or others to convince them there is any other way. So be it.

So whenever I hear the loud clunk of anyone's mind closing I gracefully back off and let them think and be whatever they choose. Saves a lot of time and negative energy...and this a tough lesson for me to learn...but it sure works for me now!LOL

Anyway, after reading what has been going on with the ratings and star system I cannot see any way that anyone will resolve it unless Mylot provides some direction and explanation to members. I hope they do...otherwise we may lose some very valuable contributors and that would be unfortunate indeed.

Thank you so much for your insight..I do not want to cause trouble..I welcome everyones opinion..It is sad that some have to do it the hard way...It doesn't prove anything, just that they are stuck in a rut and can't get beyond it...If that is what they choose then I can't say anything different...I do wish Mylot would let us know what is going on.....Thank you again....

Agreeing to disagree..respecting differences and allowing others their right of free speech will hopefully reduce conflicts here. Those who have different agendas will hopefully be held accountable by Mylot if enough members complain. Nothing changes without awareness...maybe the members who have had negative incidents need to keep standing up for their rights.

Anyway, I am glad you found my comments useful...and I appreciate yours here as well. If we keeping rating our own sights then there wouldn't be a chance for anyone to abuse it.

Thanks I am glad you like the idea of rating before you poist...it is an easy habit to get into. I like the fact
that it gives members their just due...and helps me make sure I do not miss a chance to comment on their valuable input.

I was on a couple of sites today where the ratings were wide open...so I went along and click, clicked clicked the plusses for them. When they are not inclinded to do it..those of who choose to can close the gap for them. Hope our joint efforts protect valued members from those who 'neg' out of spite. That is not the kind of energy we want here...there are so many wonderful people living by right principles that I hope the others will decide to change over and participate in more longing, honoring ways.

All we can do is try and see what happens...I'd like to believe the ripple effect will be a win-win for all.

I've finally finished with the rating system. I "dig deep" for my old discussions and checked them out. Because I wasn't sure if I gave a rating at all. You see, I was still a newbie and totally unfamiliar with the ratings system.

You are right though. I've checked other discussions and most of them are left without any ratings at all. I guess we're going to start a crusade here.^_^

Well good for you! I am impressed that you went back and confirmed my observations about the way many members leave the ratings wide open for anyone to come along and use it to degrade solid member's standing.

Thank you for your cheering section appreciation for this topic..I appreciate that. We have so many wonderful, responsible members here and it is disheartening to hear how so many have lost what they worked hard to achieve. In reading over the posts here and responding to them there are more whose star power has fallen too. We need to be each other's 'champions' to keep the site happy, harmonious and fulfilling so we do not lose any more members. Thanks for doing your part!!

Your encouraging words are of great value to me. I am still a relative Newbie here compared to numbers like yours and other 'senior' members of Mylot. So the fact that you and others thought this was a good idea means a lot to me. Maybe it is the type of work my hubby and I do. We are always interacting with people and assisting them in improving the quality of their lives by making different choices.

It seem tragic that a few with more self-serving agendas can disrupt the harmony and satisfaction of Mylot. So hopefully we can look towards creating a site that works for the highest and greatest good of the all. Anytime there is duality and 'them against us' thinking there is bound to be conflict. Goodness this is not a warring between nations...we are just everyday people having everyday discussions about how we see things. I truly hope we can resolve these conflicts and move on to happy, harmonious Mylotting! There is strength in numbers...so lets rate and keep Mylot informed of the trouble makers and just get back to enjoying our experiences here.

You have the most wonderful outlook on life, and you are such an inspiration to me. Thank you for that. Unfortunately today, I came across some of those troublesome people in a couple of my discussions. But admin straightened it right out, and to me it feels like things are "back to rights" as my grandma would say. And thanks for the compliment on my avatar. I just love it. I had changed it at one point, but I got in so much "trouble" with friends here that I ended up putting him back. Now he's my official mascot. LOL Thanks again hon.

I am not going to flame at your...because I respect your integrity. Your already know how much I value your open, honest response on any topic. So you go girl!!!
Where I sit on this topic has no right/wrong position to it. Even if you mark something..it is still YOUR choice...not some other member using the system to fulfill a vendetta. So for me the idea of rating is more about not leaving the field open for abuses than it is WHAT a member decides to do for themselves. At least if is checked off...no one else can do it.

It is not up to me or anyone else to tell you not to vote your conscience. Perhaps I haven't been here long enough to have to rate someone for an abuse. But believe me I will if the need arises.

Your position and perspectives are always welcome here Lecanis because I value who you are...and how you have the courage to walk your talk. Differing opinions is the very thing I love about Mylot discussions. They hopefully assist us in keeping all our minds open!

I've answered a couple of other discussions about ratings, and I think people have taken my answers the wrong way, so I guess I expected mean comments. Honestly though I have NEVER rated anyone just because they disagreed with me, or I didn't like them. In fact, there are a couple of mylot members I disagree with on just about everything that are my friends.=P

Thanks for coming back again...I truly enjoy our chats...on most anything. My comments to you are genuine and sense you know that. You appear to have a build in c@%#p detector swirling around your head and within your field. I know you'd quickly pick up on things that were offered to try and win brownie points.LOL
That is not my style anyway. To the best of my ability I endeavor to walk my talk and keep my inner and outer worlds in balance. So my friend, offerings to you are simply what I perceive through my interactions with you.

For those who disagree with your truth and the way you speak it...that is there issue to resolve...not yours. As you have found with what you shared about your family...the more investment people have in their beliefs the harder it is to change them. That appears to be what occurs here when members bump into other people's prejudices..they lash out, condemn, cause trouble or whatever else they have to do to avoid the possibility that they may need to tilt their own lens.

So as I said in one of our other discussions we all need to have enough self-worth to not allow other people's rejection of our beliefs affect the way we feel about ourselves. I sincerely hope that by working together all the valued, responsible, ethical members will be able to reduce the negative impact of a small few. All we can do is keep trying...and with the power of joint intent it could conceivably happen. Lets hope so anyway!
