Preventing Drops In Stars and Ratings---Rate...Rate...Rate!  | |  I have been noticing a number of members saying that their stars changed colors and ratings dropped without any indication why...or by whom. Then sunshine posted a discussion saying that Mylot uses the rating to allocate earnings. So if this is true it is not only frustrating and disheartening to have a well-earned blue star and then have it change without provocation.
I read over Mylot's position on this and if they can track the ratings to determine earnings...wouldn't you think they'd be able to track who was responsible for giving a valued member negatives and dropping their rating? I have had mine go down as much as three points overnight...without knowing who I might have offended. I don't mind people if people do not agree with me...but to my understanding we are only supposed to rate negatively when there are other implications.
Another thing, if we all worked together and were very diligent in never leaving a rating 'un-designated' and made sure to give pluses in the greatest majority of cases there would not be an 'opening' for the trouble makers to rate others unfavorably...unless they really needed to be. I am always surprised as I move around from site to site how many members do not rate on their sites and others.
My system is to rate before I even respond...anytime...anywhere. I have never rated anyone with a - or! so far. I do not get involved with 'hissy-fit' discussions and so far have had no reason to rate anything but +. So fellow Mylotters and friends what do you think about the idea of being fully committed to keeping our ratings high by caring enough to rate each other on the plus side?
We are, by and large in each other's cheering section anyway...so why not go that little extra mile and RATE, RATE, RATE! It would be a way of covering each other's backs and hopefully reducing the chance of any other valued member's ratings...and earnings going down because someone took advantage because discussions and responses were not rated. I am committed to do it...I'd be interested to know if anyone else would be willing to commit to looking out for the best interests of the all.

| | | | | | | | 51.  liranlgo (2887) | 3 years ago |  I do understand your point pers, and i can tell you that i also had this natural habit of pressing on the "+" button before reading the post, just to give a positive rating to a person that took his time and opened here an interesting discussion to talk about.
Lately i have my school and job in the top of my priority list in life, so i am in here about once a week, somtimes less.
I know that when i signed in, i did that because i knew that this site is a discussion site, but now days wherever i visit here, i do notice that i really have a hard time participating a discussion, because there is no discussion.
Yes, there are people here that do have interesting posts that i can react to, but the other posts usually ask me questions like: "what is my favorite color" for the 20's time that month.
It seems that people do not obey the rules here, they open the same topics, they open a lote of topics with a "yes" or "no" question, and that lowers the quality of this site.
So, i do have a hard time rating them positive.
But i do not rate negative.
i just hope things are going to get better here.

| Perspectives (2264) | 3 years ago | I guess it depends on where one looks and certainly have seen a lot of the 'light' topics you mention. However, within the circle of friends I have found here there are more than enough thoughtful, interesting discussions for me. I stick pretty much to regulars and sites like yours and others where I can trust that there will be something of interest to comment on.
Those who are not following those guidelines do not deserve a plus..so I am with you on one. I leave them blank in those cases too. So far I have rated everyone who comes here with a plus because they absolutely deserve it.
I would not hesitate to rate someone negative if warrented..and I will report abuses. So you have added some valid perspectives to this topic...all of which are well taken. Thanks for making time to contribute here within your busy schedule. It is always good to hear from you my friend.

I try not to get involved in discussions, that would warrant a negative response, but I must admit, that sometimes, I accidentally come upon some, and I can't help myself. Anytime someone seems ok with animal cruelty, that fires me up and just infuriates me. It's hard to keep my mouth shut, then. lol

What I was trying to indicate here was not to rate positives if people did not deserve them...but to keep rating so the ranks aren't left open for anyone who is abusing the system or using it as a self-serving vendetta as many have for someone who they were having a hissy-fit with. So standing up for what we believe and stating our case to each other here...great! It is a discussion forum after all and sometimes all it take is one person saying the right thing to create a positive ripple effect that goes far and wide.
So I am with you rate pluses whenever we can...but for sure...rate negatives or abuses with a sense of fairness and responsibility. That works for me too.
