1. poohgal (2953) | 3 years ago | Hello there. One of the most disturbing movies I've watched is called Nightmare Detective. It's a Japan film about 2 guys who have the ability to enter dreams. One is a bad guy and the other one a good guy. The bad guy makes use of his ability to go into people's dream to commit murder. His victims appear to have committed suicide instead of being murdered. They stab themselves in their sleep and the scene is bloody. I forgot the director's name. But I find this movie too bloody.

|
|
acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | Hello, poohgal!
Nightmare Detective seems to be quite gory, considering that it involves murder of the strangest kind.
I would definitely try to get a copy of this so that I could decide for myself whether it's truly disturbing.
By the way, what's the spoken language in this particular film? If it's Nihongo, is the subtitle in English?
Thanks a lot and Happy myLotting!;)
| |
|
|
poohgal (2953) | 3 years ago | Yup. It has english subtitles. So don't worry, if I can understand the movie through the subtitles, I am sure you can too.=D
| |
|
|
acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | Most certainly, poohgal!
Thanks a lot for the assurance. lol...

2. overdosed (149) | 3 years ago | I've heard from friends "HOSTEL" was very disturbing. That's why I didn't watch it, hehehe.
But there is this Nicolas Cage flick "8 MM" which I did watch. I find the subject matter (snuff films) and the story very disturbing. It didn't show too much violence, only suggestions of it - but it was very effective in bothering me 'til night time (I found myself lying in bed wide awake, trying to erase what I've watched).
Also, there's The Exorcist (old one and new one) for reasons of creepiness.
..... and any movie with Paris Hilton in it is extremely disturbing. Hehehe.
| |
| |
|
|
acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | Hostel was indeed disturbing, overdosed.
I've already watched 8MM and, like you, I find it disturbing as well, but it didn't bother me as much as it bothered you, since I didn't find myself lying in bed wide awake after watching it.
Exorcist was really freaky and it really spooked me out, to be frank, though it may not be as extremely disturbing as Paris Hilton's movies. lol...
Thanks for your excellent post and Happy myLotting!;)
| |
|
|
AmbiePam (15338) | 3 years ago | I'm glad to see I'm not the only who was bothered by 8mm.
| |
|
|
foxyfire33 (5796) | 3 years ago | Add me to the list of people bothered by 8mm. I can't even explain why exactly, it just did....Face Off freaked me out a little too.
| |
|
|
Foxxee (2633) | 3 years ago | that one movie that Paris plays in, it's called "WAX Museum" right?
That was actually a scary and sick movie... it was sick!!!!!
So is Paris, but for real, have you guys seen that movie she plays in?
| |
|
|
acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | foxyfire33, I agree that the concept of Face Off is simply unimaginably freaky.
Anyway, thanks for participating in this discussion!
Happy myLotting!;)
| |
|
|
acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | Foxxee, I haven't seen that yet. Are you sure that the movie per se is freaky or it's freaky because of Paris? lol...
Wax Museum would surely be included in my list of movies to watch, if only to see if it's really freaky.
Thanks for your much appreciated contribution and Happy myLotting1;)
| |
|
|
acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | By the way, Foxxee, since I forgot to ask it in my previous post, do you know who directed Wax Museum?
Thanks again and Happy myLotting!;)
| |
|
|
rezaferry (122) | 3 years ago | The movie that paris hilton plays in is actually called "house of wax", not wax museum. It is about a wax museum however.
| |
|
|
acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | I humbly stand corrected. Thanks a lot for the clarification, rezaferry!
Happy myLotting!;)
| |
|
|
Foxxee (2633) | 3 years ago | that is right!
house of wax!
lol!
i thought something was off. oh well, i was close.
| |
|
|
Foxxee (2633) | 3 years ago | director is "Jaume Collet-Serra"
from "house of wax"
| |
|
|
acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | Thanks for supplying that piece of all important info, Foxxee.
Happy myLotting!;)

Ravenladyj (17967) | 3 years ago | Hostel is a FABULOUS flick! Certainly not for everyone since some of the scenes are graphic but its a great movie...I cant wait for the second one to come out on Tues.
8MM is also a terrific film...

liperoterachel (10154) | 3 years ago | I think its an independent! I ran out of things to watch and I just grabbed it at my local blockbuster. I wish I hadn't I only made it to half the movie. I was debating between putting that down and Glitter! That was pretty bad.
Jeez I just noticed I say I alot.

Foxxee (2633) | 3 years ago | Almost like the movie called "KIDS"
| |
|
|
acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | Foxxee, was Chloe Sevigny one of the cast of characters of KIDS? If she was, I believe I've seen it already.
Thanks in advance for answering my question!

acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | Thanks a lot for ably clearing that out, Rachel!

Foxxee (2633) | 3 years ago | Yep.
"Chloe Sevigny" did play in the movie KIDS.

|
Ravenladyj (17967) | 3 years ago | I think what is disturbing is its actually partially based on Nikki Reeds (Evie) life..she (Nikki Reed) was the writer for that movie...whats also disturbing is I KNOW teens like that and the two characters in the movie (Evie & Tracy) reminded me VERY MUCH of my best friend and I at that age...alot of teens can sadly relate to it..even those of us who've grow up and away from that time in our lives ya know...
I saw Kids and thought it sucked hardcore...but there is a documentary called I believe, Girlfight, that is supposed to be very good....

4. roniroxas (5937) | 3 years ago | "Copycat" starting sigourney weaver. i dont know who was the director but for me this is the most disturbing film i watched so far.
| |

acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | Frankly, Copycat is also new for me.
Do you know when this movie was released? To somehow give me an idea of what this film is basically about, could you kindly tell me to what genre it belongs, if possible?
Thanks a lot and Happy myLotting!;)

5. raijin (6727) | 3 years ago | Well I'm a fan of documentary films, but I don't watch and am not aware to all of them. I only watch I can and whenever I have time, since I need to be in the mood to stay totally focused on the film.
I've seen the infamous "Cannibal Holocaust" but I don't really know the real story behind it, since I haven't had much time research if the events that occured there where really true. But it seems really true, so I didn't pursue to make a research of it because it's a gruesome film and that I really got disturbed by it..
| |
| |
|
|
acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | The title of the film alone is already quite creepy, to my mind, especially since it seems to involve cannibalism (who in his right mind would enjoy watching a film where a human is devouring his/her fellow human?) and/or the holocaust (a devastatingly horrific period in our history, to be sure).
By the way, if you know, raijin, who directed it and when did it come out in cinemas?
Thanks a lot and Happy myLotting!;)
| |
|
|
raijin (6727) | 3 years ago | It's been a long time since it was made, that I forgot the director's name. But try also the award-winning film directed by Steven Spielberg, "Schindler's List" which starred Liam Neeson. It's also a great film, as it was also based on true-to-life events during the World War II holocaust about the Jews.
| |
|
|
acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | I perfectly understand, raijin. I would just scour through the net to find relevant info about Cannibal Holocaust.
Schindler's List is indeed a great World War II film and it really moved me. It really made me feel like I was likewise in that dark time in our history, experiencing the soul-crushing agony that Holocaust victims were experiencing then.
Thanks for recommending it, though, raijin!
Happy myLotting!;)

6. twilight_75 (312) | 3 years ago | The first movie to pop into my head was, Hostel. This said, i don't think it was a particually good movie, fx were a bit naff, and you don't really see much, it's more implied. What makes it disturbing is the whole idea, Eli Roth your a very sick man lol Don't think i'll watch the 2nd.
The only thing I've ever watched thats disturbed me big time isn't a movie but a short clip on rotton.com. A so called friend thought they'd show me, and i was completly unaware of what i was about to be subjected too. I won't go into it apart from to say, it upset me so much i couldn't see anything other than the image and would periodically burst into tears.
| |
| |
|
|
acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | That clip must really be terribly disturbing, considering that after viewing it, you were so much upset that you "couldn't see anything other than the image and would periodically burst into tears."
I could just imagine how understandably equally upset you may have been with your "so called friend" for tricking you into watching that horrifying clip.
If you could still remember, though, twilight_75, what's the title of that clip? If ever there is one, who directed it? I just want to personally know whether such clip would top the disturbing films I've already watched.
Thanks a lot and Happy myLotting!;)

|
twilight_75 (312) | 3 years ago | It was a clip of a hostage in Iraq I think, who was shown on his knees, hands tied behind his back having his head cut off with what must have been a blunt blade. The executioner held his head forward and cut from bact to front it took ages. I think and hope he was already dead as there wasn't much blood. I was so shocked by what i was seeing, yet was completly unable to turn my head away. It was disturbing because it was real.
| |
|
|
acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | I believe that I've seen this clip already, and I fully agree that the fact that such condemnable beheading was real only made it all the more disturbing.

7. MarieJ23 (484) | 3 years ago | For me, Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the most disturbing movie that I ever watched. It took me a couple of nights to go to sleep peacefully. I don't know but it seems like it's haunting me in my dreams. I think it was the brutality and the plot itself that frightens and disturbs me a lot. After watching it, I did wished I listened to my friends and not watched it. Horror movies, The Ring and The Grudge, bothers me also for sometime but not really the same effect with the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
| |
| |
|
|
acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | Texas Chainsaw Massacre was really chilling and it was simply morbid, to say the least.
It truly must have had a disturbing effect on you because it even took you a couple of nights to go to sleep peacefully.
To help out the other myLotters who would be actively participating in this discussion, would you be so kind to share how you were able to effectively get rid of the film's negative effect on you after just a couple of nights?
The Ring and The Grudge are agreeably bothersome movies, too, but such are not at par with Texas Chainsaw Massacre, to my mind, especially in terms of its disconcerting impact.
Thanks for further enriching this discussion through your much appreciated contribution, MarieJ23!

8. ggaaiill (178) | 3 years ago | The most disturbing film I watch.
Hills have eyes and hitcher. Hills have eyes and hitcher after watching those movies, I am now scared of travelling from unknown places. When we pass some one along the way trying to hitch or need some help, am hesitant to stop. Thinking that person does not really need help, and their real intention would be hurting us.
| |
| |
|
|
acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | Being wary of hitchhiking could perhaps be one of the effective indicators that such a movie really tremendously affected you.
If I may ask, though, ggaaiill, who directed "Hills have eyes and hitcher," if you know?
Thanks a lot for your honest response and Happy myLotting!;)

acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | I would tend to agree with you that The Passion of the Christ was quite graphic and, I would not, in any way, fault you for finding it difficult to watch the torture of Jesus Christ.
If I'm not mistaken, Mel Gibson was even heavily criticized for this film, especially by those who felt that the depiction of the pain and suffering that Christ went through was unbelievably visibly intense.
If it's any consolation, though, as you've said, it thankfully concluded with the resurrection of Christ.
Thanks for your insightful sharing, wisedragon!

|
ljegbers (5761) | 3 years ago | I cried through most of this movie. Then read the history of it. Why Mel producted it and the monk that he producted it for. It had greater meaning for me then. As I watched this and the horrors that Jesus faced...I know it was a bruital time and the way the story played out, it made me even stronger in my faith that Jesus died this horrible death to save us.
| |
|
|
acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | For what it's worth, ljegbers, there were many like you who cried when they've watched this movie. My siblings, for instance, almost cried a river (hyperbole, of course) when they watched Passion of the Christ.
I admire you for taking the time to learn more about it and actually reading its history to deeper understand the movie's true meaning.
But I admire you more for deriving something very positive from such a visibly sorrowful movie. As you've clearly said, "it made me even stronger in my faith that Jesus died this horrible death to save us."
Thanks to your honest sharing and Happy myLotting!;)

onedollar (363) | 3 years ago | In those days thousands have died even more terrible deaths in the hands of the romans. Never crossed my mind that they died for my sins, they just died in vain.

Savvynlady (2973) | 3 years ago | They brought that film to church and played it during the young people's hour, and folks especially the kids, they just cried and cried during that film. I remember it well.

acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | That must really be quite a sight to behold, Savvynlady. I could just imagine how such a compelling film impacted the kids.

Ingkingderders (1069) | 7 months ago | Yep. that was one disturbing film.. I couldn't take my hands off my eyes, cause I couldn't to see the torture.. Mel Gibson does disturbing films really.
