91. nancyrowina (2026) | 6 months ago | I was really freaked out when I saw the film "The Event Horizon" not so much by the special effects but just the idea there is a chaos dimension and what could happen if we accidentally opened it to ours, I don't want to give away too much of the plot so I won't say more. Hostel directed by Quentin Tarrantino is pretty disturbing too, as I bet there really are places like that that no one knows about.

95. mama_bear (602) | 6 months ago | i would have to say saw and all the other saw movies that followed, i believe that they all have different directors. i swear the first time that i watched saw i thought that i'd be sick and half way through had to make myself a stiff drink to get through the rest of it. holy crapola, that movie is intense actually all of them are. now i love horror don't get me wrong, but well when there are things that go bump in the night and supernatural things and the mike myers and linda blair's of the world, that i can handle. the most disturbing thing about saw for me was that the big nasty was not the devil or a demon or some hellspawn, but it was a mere man, ordinary regular almost run of the mill guy. not a guy imbued with superpowers, nay just a normal guy, not mentally of course, he has this misguided notion that what he was doing was okay because he was helping people to value their lives as his was coming to an end and he wished that he had more time. what sort of psychopath spends his remaining days creating elaborate traps and schemes for people so that he can torture them into appreciating their lives. after going through that to be honest i am not sure that i would want to live, i would be so wary and afraid of people. what scares me is the things that people will do to other people. this character had no empathy or sympathy. i remember that somewhere near the end having that WTF feeling, i do not want to spoil it for anyone who has not seen it but would like to.
some of those scenes are so brutal and gruesome, the directors and screenwriters must be a pretty f*cked up bunch. for those who thought that silence of the lambs or hannibal or red dragon was bad, you are sadly mistaken. this set of movies makes humans very scary for me, be afraid...be very afraid.

98. glords (1434) | 6 months ago | I'm not sure which one was the most disturbing. I think there have been several that have bothered me, but I'm not sure if they still would today. For example the movie "Lost Boys" scared me to death when I was a child. I hated the scene where the vampires bit the skinheads neck. As an adult I enjoy this horror comedy and don't find any of it disturbing.
I remember in college the movie "American History X" upset me. I just couldn't get over the ending, but I won't spoil it, you'll just have to watch it for yourself. It was a good movie, even if some of the scenes bothered me... it was well worth it.
