21. AeroChickie (390) | 3 years ago | Hostel is by far the most disturbing movie I've ever seen. It's jam packed with grotesque action and bloody gore. I got shivers watching that movie. Ewww....

acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | I could only fully agree with you, AeroChickie.
Thanks for your concise post and Happy myLotting!;)

22. vokey9472 (1134) | 3 years ago | For me the most disturbing movie I have ever seen was In The Mouth of Madness. I cannot even begin to tell you why it upset me so much, but I had nightmares for months after watching it. Another movie that really freaked me out was Event Horizon. Interesting that both films starred Sam Neill. Maybe it is him that disturbs me and not the movies. Something to ponder.
I was a bit disturbed by 8MM but not like I was over the two I mentioned above. Those two still give me the creeps just thinking about them.

|
|
acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | Sam Neill may very well be the one who really "upset you so much" and "freaked you out," vokey9472. lol...
Do you know who directed In The Mouth of Madness and Event Horizon?
By the way, just FYI, you're now also officially included in the growing list of myLotters who found 8 mm disturbing.
Thanks a lot for your very fine post and Happy myLotting!;)

|
|
acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | Any movie with a theme involving abuse, particularly those between parents and children, are certainly very disturbing, kristrunyr.

24. aracir (357) | 3 years ago | i don't know if this is the most disturbing yet, but this is recently the most disturbing film I've seen. It's called Perfume: the Story of a Murderer.
I just can't imagine how someone who seemed so innocent can kill without really getting guilty just to achieve his goal.
| |
| |
|
|
acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | It seems like the character in Perfume you're referring to is a quintessential Machiavellian, resorting to any means, be it moral/legal/legitimate/ethical or not, to ultimately attain his ends.
I would truly try to obtain a copy of such film to essentially see why you find it "the most disturbing film" you've seen.
Thanks for your sensible post, aracir!
Happy myLotting!;)

25. anniepa (9240) | 3 years ago | I must agree with several others who have mentioned Hostel and The Hills Have Eyes. Psycho still bothers me to this day, I have a fear of taking a shower if I'm not absolutely sure the doors are all locked...lol Two other older movies I found disturbing were Coma and Soylent Green. Sorry, I don't recall the directors of either of these. Annie

acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | Need not apologize, anniepa--no harm done.
By the way, which between the two Psycho films are you pertaining to? Alfred Hitchcock's or Gus Van Sant's?
Could you likewise kindly give me a very brief overview of Coma and Soylent Green?
Thanks a lot for your great post and Happy myLotting!;)

26. Foxxee (2626) | 3 years ago | The move called "HOSTEL" is the most disturbing movie I have ever seen.
All that torture being done on humans by other humans was just sick!
I had no idea that movie was going to be like that. I had a hard time getting over that movie. And I'm 25 and I couldn't sleep! UGH! It's nasty and I regret watching it!
I also heard there was a HOSTEL 2 coming???????
And then the movies SAW! I watched all the SAW movies, it's pretty sick, but for some reason I keep watching, but I can't watch it alone. LOL!
But HOSTEL is the one I feel shouldn't even have been made!
| |
| |
|
|
acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | The sheer blood lust and evident sadism in such movies truly make them very disturbing.
If there's indeed a Hostel 2 to be released, Foxxee, would you still dare watch it, given your obvious disgust towards the first one?
Thanks a lot for your excellent response and Happy myLotting!;)
| |
|
|
Foxxee (2626) | 3 years ago | I would NOT watch HOSTEL 2. It was to sick for me.
But I would watch the new SAW movie coming out. If I had someone to watch it with me and my kids were asleep!
I know the SAW movies are pretty scary and sick, but HOSTEL beats them all. It just seems to real...

acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | If ever you do, have tons of "scary and sick" fun, Foxxee!

27. houndsgood (597) | 3 years ago | Open Water is a disturbing film. No forboding music, no big budget, but it just really gets at you. It was written and directed by Chris Kentis. There were no major stars to distract you. Go see it.
| |
| |
|
|
vokey9472 (1134) | 3 years ago | Open Water wasn't that disturbing to me. Perhaps because things like that happen far too often in real life. It is just a fact of life and a risk of scuba diving to me. Which is why my hubby and I have a pact about scuba diving, we never ever partner up with each other. But it was a good film that really gets you feeling what those characters must be feeling.
| |
|
|
houndsgood (597) | 3 years ago | I think what was disconcerting is there was just no way that these people were going to be rescued unlike other "trapped" or "stranded" type of films where it is foreshadowed, or blatantly revealed to the audience but unbeknownst to the characters that there is a little hope that someone out there is trying to save them and just might arrive at the last minute. These people didn't have the powers or training of ninjas, navy seals, survivalists, etc, and even though they were experienced perhaps at diving, they were people "just like us." It was just a matter of time, so to speak. An audience I think doesn't know how to react when their is no mood music to direct them as well. Not me because I am used to viewing films way beyond the fold of the big blockbuster and mainstream flicks but there is more thinking into what happens next when there isn't. Also, what the psyche goes through - in a more commercial film you wouldn't have seen as much of the "unravelling" that psychologically goes on between them about their relatoonship.
So maybe not "scarey" but very disconcerting.

I would surely try to watch your excellent recommendation one of these days.

28. jcj_111776 (1251) | 3 years ago | hi acmepride. If you can find the documentary film "Faces of Death", then I assure you, once you watch it, you'll never want to watch it again.
This was a film that I literally felt sick to my stomach. Not only was it VERY disturbing, it was horrible.
I couldn't remember who directed it but it involved a doctor who wanted to show the people the many "faces of death". Now, this film should not be viewed by people who has a weak stomach for goriness. Because it is gory and it happened in real life.
I won't go into details of the most horrific scene I witnessed in that film anymore. But as I'm typing these words, I can remember again those disturbing scenes and I feel sick again.

| |
|
|
acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | Hi jcj_111776! I 'll certainly try my best to find a copy of that documentary so that I could see how gory and sickening it actually is
For some reason, I tend to think of the documentary Mr. Death by Errol Morris. Have you watched it already? If you haven't yet, I suggest that you do. It's not really gory, to my mind, but it's quite disturbing since it somehow deals with the Holocaust.
By the way, for what it's worth, I want to apologize for making you remember again the disturbing scenes of such a documentary and making you feel sick again.
Thanks for your great post and Happy myLotting!;)

jcj_111776 (1251) | 3 years ago | if the theme of that movie is like the same as "Schindler's List", then I'll try looking for it.^_^
| |
|
|
acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | It's not exactly themed like Schindler's List, jcj_111776.
To my mind, it's more like the denial of the existence of Gas Chambers, which were purportedly used during the dreadful Holocaust.
It's a good documentary, nonetheless.
Try to watch it, if you want, and you may find it to be interesting.
Thanks for contributing to this discussion and Happy myLotting!;)

29. nielcdg (385) | 3 years ago | Hi there acme its me again, I think the most disturbing film I have ever watched and certainly gives me goose bumps thinking about it is...HEMOGLOBIN!!!
Its in the freaky, scary disgusto meter...right beyond the eew and the "hurl!!"
The movie is about a town inhabited by people who are unknowingly loving on top of a population of cannibalistic malformed inbred exaristocrat humans.
In the past embalmed corpses were their diet, but when the small Island town moved their cemetery to the main land it cut off the source of food to these monsters.
They begin feeding on the living, these eat people while they are still alive and maul them to death and feed on them then and there.
Its really disturbing to watch I couldnt sleep for weeks!!
Please watch it whoa it'll scare you really!
| |
| |
|
|
acmepride (759) | 3 years ago | Hemoglobin seems to really be extremely disturbing, especially since, as you've said, it's "the most disturbing film I have ever watched and certainly gives me goose bumps thinking about it."
Personally, though, I feel that this particular movie seems to be quite similar to The Evil Dead because it also involves creatures that "eat people while they are still alive and maul them to death and feed on them then and there."
It's actually a trilogy of immensely disgusting goriness. If you have not watched it yet, and if you have the stomach to watch it, then try to.
Thanks for your very animated post, niel!
Happy myLotting!;)
