Should media leave stars alone? |
|
The personal troubles of celebrities such as Britney Spears and Amy Winehouse have dominated the headlines this year. Should the press to leave them alone?
Singer Britney Spears has been ordered by a judge in Los Angeles to hand over her two young children to her former husband Kevin Federline.
This is the latest in a series of disasters to have struck the pop princess in 2007 including being charged with hit-and-run and a bizarre head shaving incident.
Meanwhile, the UK's Amy Winehouse has faced similar troubles with concerns over her drug use and cancelled gigs.
Has the obsession with celebrity gone too far? Should the press leave stars such as Britney Spears and Amy Winehouse alone? Is it possible to combine fame with a successful private life?

I truly think that there is often to much made of celebrities personal problems and their personal life.
If they weren't celebrities, their problems would not be making the news like this
I think that what Britney and her ex husband are going through should be kept private and out of the news, its not going to do any good for them to have it blasted all over the papers and tv.
Maybe if it wasn't so publicized she could concentrate on getting the help she needs, and getting her kids back and her career back on track.

2. casablynn (132) | 3 years ago | I think celebrities like Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton want to be photographed and want the crazy coverage until they want a private life and to be left alone. And since they can't have it both ways, we see the pictures of them crying because photographers are following them everywhere. Paris Hilton especially seeked out this type of attention, she has done nothing noteworthy to warrant this type of coverage and yet she gets it. Why? Because she is an attention seeking party girl. If it was all the media's fault and was truly just about celebrity obsession then why do we see the same stars being talked about over and over and over again?

3. wisconsin26 (2006) | 3 years ago | No because these people are just like us but just famous.. They too need to be treated like anyone else.. Britney spears can't take care of herself let alone two little boys.. The judge did the right there to give them to someone who will take care of them...These Stars think just because they are stars they can do what they want and get away with it.. I find it that when someone higher them than step it it's a good thing.. This way the kids will grow up not doing what the parents did in her past.. On a honest note would you want to see these two kids of Britney's like her? A drug addict?

4. happythoughts (2133) | 3 years ago | I would hate to be a star for just that reason. You would not have any privacy. Every flaw would be analized by everyone. It would be a rough life for you and your family and friends. I would not want it at all.
I think that the press will continue to harass tha stars until the news thay create is no longer news. That wont happen until we dont care anymore and we all love to watch the train wrecks as they happen.

5. Rozie37 (7153) | 3 years ago | I do not listen to, or watch the news. The only way that I know what is going on is when I get breaking news in my e-mail box. The way I feel about media and celebrities is this, it is the price you pay for fame. Celebrities are paid to entertain and every once in a while or more often than not in some cases, we get a few real life freebies. I say, it comes with the territory, so suck it up and keep going. As far as I know, it has always been like this and always will be. America loves drama and celebrities are full of it.

9. agnescav (380) | 3 years ago | Many of these celebrities are acting like this just to get the attention of the media. There are plenty of young actresses who have somewhat private lives and are not followed around.
As far as Britney Spears is concerned, I really believe that if it wasn't for the media, she would still have her kids. I have never heard of being forced to meet with a parenting coach and testing twice a week as a determination of custody.
There are lots of worse mothers out there than she is. Now that Federline has the kids, he will be under the same public scrutiny she was. That is what is sad for those kids.

10. Ravenladyj (17982) | 3 years ago | "Has the obsession with celebrity gone too far?"
- No not really...I mean its no different to how it was 20 yrs ago or even 50 yrs ago for that matter its just that NOW we have the internet and tv shows that SPECIALIZE on this sort of thing...
"Should the press leave stars such as Britney Spears and Amy Winehouse alone?"
- Honestly....as much as I think the press is a pain in the butt for these ppl and I do think they cross the line at times..when they got into the business they KNEW what would happen...I think that Spears, Winehouse, Hilton etc etc LOVE the publicity..'any attention is better than no attention' comes to mind when I think of celebs like them....
"Is it possible to combine fame with a successful private life?"
- Absolutely! There are NUMEROUS stars who are A Lister stars but dont go through the same thing as ppl like Spears...I think the key for them is NOT acting like a drunken, stoned idiot on a regular basis out in public while only wearing half your clothes:-/
