My wife and I bought our house just over 4 years ago. We are in our 50's. Well I am she say's, "I'm 49." HAHAHA! Well we had rented for many many years and are very happy with our home. Now this is the strange thing. One of the bedrooms is used as a computer room/office. When we moved we used the closet in this room to store some things that are used all year long. It has about 4 shelves on it. The first year in the house we heard nosises like scratching in the walls. yes IN the walls. Wwell I found out we had squirrells in the attic. Now I covered the hole they used for acess and that problem was resolved withoput ever going into the attic. Now the wierd part I feel. The shelves in the room can be removed and one day I noticed this closet is where the access to the attic is. Now to go up there I have to remove a couple shelves of things as well as the board itself. Now as I said I've lived here 4 years and not once have I been in my attic. I don't think I will until something occurs forcing me to enter that dark dank spot. I hate the thought of going up there alone. I know my wife won't go up there. So one day I'll have to brave it out and face the ever dreaded attic space. HAHAHA! Have you an attic/cellar that you have not been in yet? Or are you afraid of what may be crawling/flying around in this space? After hearing the scratching in my walls I dread going up there. Have not hweard it since so need for me to climb up there. YET!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Today I am unfortunate because I cannot have the photo of that closet, normally I always get nice photo from you and I like all your previous photos..LOL!!! But it is OK maybe you forgot to recharge you camera's battery. OK Grandpa Bob, my house only a single storey terrace house so it do not has attic. In your case I think you have to use poisonous gas type to kill all the living animals (if any, let say venomous snake) before you make entry to that small room. Safety better take first. Something like fire extinguisher cylinder that can blow that poisonous gas into that attic. If worse comes to worse, you can talk to 911 personnel personally to ask for help and procedures. Have your happy day, Grandpa Bob.

HAHAHAHA! Oh ytou will not get a photo of my attic till I climb up there. And as of toady I have no forseeable plans to be going up there any time soon. HAHAHA!! I charged my batteries on the way back from my short trip yesterday. Hee hee! Nope I waited till it got daylight as the squirrels hunt for food during day;light. I closed off the hole and there hasnt been any more scratching sounds so that worked as the graden center employee stated it would. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I have a story to tell ya. Prepare to get spooked! lol My three maiden grand aunts were given a house by their father that was an old old school house that was built in 1776 - of all years. It had one of those lookout rooms at the way top and it had so many rooms in the house that you could actually get lost in it. Even a room for a library and that they did have. (I wish I had taken some when they sold the place but I was too young to know better) Anyway, the cellar was something to talk about! It had a ground for a floor, no wood or anything else, solid ground that never saw the light of day since the house was built. Once in the cellar with the door open at the top of the stairs, one could turn on the light and it would only light up part of the room. My cousin and I decided to use a flashlight to walk around the other parts of the room and believe it or not the flashlight would only work so far! The further we went the less the light would show! I wouldn't venture into the dark but my cousin did and I was petrified for him and begged him to come back but he wouldn't and he was able to cirle the whole wall which took him probably about 15 minutes to return but it seemed like hours to me! I thought I'd lose my mind wishing he'd hurry up and return but he just laughed it off but never did it again after that. At least not that I'm aware of. He is and always will be a thrill seeker - NOT ME!! lol Now another story, my hubby and I moved to Texas and eventually bought a house which had an attic, come to find out we had a snake in it and I would NOT go in there no matter what we had in that attic till hubby killed that snake. No way!! He eventually got it but still, it gave me the creeps to even consider going up there and if I did, I flew like a bat out of hell!! lol

Kewl tales. As far as a snake here in my attic, I doubt very much we'd find one though. My wife and I lived in a haunted house way back in the mid 70's. I might have to start a discussion about that one. Thanx! HAPPY POSTIMNGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I won't go near my attic. The idea of cobwebs & heavens knows what else really puts me off. Strange noises you hear are mostly mice I expect. Fortunately I don't hear any attic noises or wall noises. I remember many years ago hearing mice in the walls during the night. It was very distracting & disturbing. Get your wife to go in the attic if need be!

LOL..I love your story. I have recently moved to a new house with a basement. Now I know theres nothing down there but I still cant go down alone. My laundrys down there so I have to but I take the dogs with me. LOL. In our old house we had a noise in our bathroom. Everynight around 2 am there would be a nocking sound. It would nock 2-3 times then do it again then nothing till the next night. No one ever heard it but me and thought I was paranoid! I know there was something there but could never figure out what. I thought maybe a cat crawled under there for shelter. Who knows.. Two days before we moved my husband heard it! LOL. He was like OH MY GOD...What was that? I told him it was my friend in the wall. He came to say hello!! LOL He looked at me not impressed.

Is your attic large enough to store stuff in? If so, there may be treasures waiting to be found. Be surprised what you may find in an attic that previous owners have either forgotten about or purposely left behind when they moved. We have a crawlspace that we store seldom used stuff in that's not scary at all. Hardly even a cobweb down there and it's dry and clean. I make darn sure it's kept clean too. We lived in several mobile homes over the years and both times, the ppl b4 us left the underneath a total mess and you had to move garbage around to get underneath to work on the pipes and such. I even got pissed at one worker who was just throwing scrap wires and tape to the side and had no intention of picking it all up and bringing it back out to put in the garbage. Called his boss and b*tched big time to him so the worker had to come back out and clean up his mess. lol Now whenever we or someone else has to go into the crawlspace to work, I make sure a grocery sack is taken with for the garbage.

It's as large as the house actually. I just don't need to store anything up there at this time. I've a 2 car garage and only one car. HAHAHAHA! Lots of room out there I say. I hate crawl spaces, always feels creepy to me is all. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I do not mind the attic so much, although we do get birds in there from time to time. It is my basement that I avoid. The house is over 100 years old, and the basement has seen better days. I have had work done to it to help it and straighten the walls, but it is still the least attractive space in my house. I wish it were really a dry, nice basement, as I have lots of stuff that I could store there. I do not go up in the attic in the heat of summer as it gets much too hot.

I'm used to dark, dank and scary places most people won't go at GrandPa. I'm more afraid of those living than those who we prefer to as the unknown, I believe that these live people were the one's who are the most unpredictable!;) We have dark places here in our house, our backyard as one example. I always make sure that I check the door locks, if they are completely secured. I also walk around the house even if it's midnight, to make sure that there's nobody else who would try to attempt and break inside the house!;)

ooh..cover that with a metal plate, trust me on that one. we had quite a few squirrel invasions from our neighbor's trees-they'd jump right over.we tried covering it with wood and they re-chewed the hole.caused $2500 worth of damage:(

The best thing to do is get someone out there to one of those "free insulation" checks in your home. I did this summer and had a bunch of guys in my attic. Now I have new insulation and any can tell me there is no creepy crawly things up there. YYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAA
